Coming from a Hermes via a Blackberry 8300. Dropped the Blackberry in the river and going to try the Samsung.

Looks like it should be a nice change. Will post my thoughts when it gets here.

Hi Guys, in the sounds/notifications setup page I have selected no notifications/sounds for new email message. But I still get a message saying 'you have XXX unread email messages'. I don't want this for my push email but just for SMS messages. It won't turn off. Any ideas?

(Put this in a seperate post to avoid confusion)

My all-time favourite rears its ugly head again, as well. "Cannot start camera device. Camera is already running".... Swine! Taking Panorama pictures then switching back to normal camera mode seems to trigger this abomination.

I just had this happen several times while travelling - first time I have seen it in a couple of months of ownership. It seems to be caused by moving the camera through the various modes other that straight camera. I never took panorama shots but certainly went through that mode. Always took a soft reset to fix.

Does it keep the size of the device still quite small? I bought the proporta case and while good found it made the phone too big to carry round in a pocket etc.

Sometimes it'll work over the 3G and other times it wont. I'm in central London with FULL 3G coverage and find myself stuck on GPRS...

I have just had this happen too. Also in Central london. GPRZS works, but 3G doesn't get past locating. Tried changing the DNS back to stock and avoiding the modaco proxy, no luck....

Good idea. I will give that a try and see how I go. I assumed the device would drop back into 2G.

And yes I am comparing two different networks but I would be surprised if there were coverage problems in the middle of the City to this extent. could of course be wrong.

I have a few instances now where the Vario II on T-mobile has little or no reception in circumstances where a Vodafone blackberry works fine. A couple of instances inside in the city come to mind. Has anyone else had this problem? It is difficult as I am using the push email to replace my blackberry.

I donwloaded the Skype beta and it runs but can't seem to see my definitely active 3g connection. As such, it won't log me on. Any ideas to help?

Hi. with my JX-10 Jabra headset, I used to get a beep after pressing the button to show that the phone was ready for voice dialling. On the Vario II, I get silence. The headset does work and voice dialling also seems to work but it would be better to get an indication that hte phone is ready to listen.

Ideally I would record the voice tags through the headset but I can't seem to get that to work either.

More generally, how can I use the headset to listen to mono audio (if possible). There is no headset profile listed for the headset even though it is supposed to have it along with a handsfree profile.

Any thoughts?

I am trying to make more efficient use of the phone and not rely on the stylus much at all. The board obviously has lots of experts, any tips on how to efficiently make the best of the phone (other than install new software)? What has turned me of these phones before (eg P900) is finding them too cumbersome to use for basic phone stuff. All advice appreciated.

and contacts and for me most importantly allows the calendar part to be used as it should be.
...
they dont overlap and are completely complimentary id HIGHLY reccomend both (ive bought both) install to main memory. if unsure try the trials and see.

JEREMY

Thanks. I did search but there are an enormous number of threads on the SPB stuff. I will give them both a try.

I am a little confused looking for upgrades to the Vario II. The SPB stuff looks great but I an still not clear on the difference between SPB Diary and SPB Pocket Plus. Some differences are obvious but other features look like they overlap. Or are the two complementary?

All help appreciated.

Hi guys. This forum has been really useful for my new SP5. I have utilised a lot of the registry tweaks to enhance functionality. What a great resource.

Not having had a WM device since an old Ipaq device years ago, I was wondering for the SP5, what apps/system enhancements people think are a must to get the most out of the phone. Less focussed on media, more on the organiser/internet side of things.

All advice appreciated.

Jason.
