A few years ago, when smartphones first came to the USA, Modaco released a ringtone pack. Where can I find a link to download those ringtones?

Does this exist anywhere anymore? My phone could really use the update.

Just got off the phone w/ T-Mobile US Customer Care. They're claiming the entire East Coast of USA is experiencing a data outage and has been down for at least a day or so at this point they again have no ETA for repair.

I have had nothing but grief with the WM2003 rom.. Yet one of my friends swears by it and how "stable" it is. I think it's a problem with T-Mobile. He is on AT&T and doesn't have 1/2 of the issues I have during calls. I have problems with the other party not hearing me, the volume on the call just getting softer as the conversation goes on, other weird stuff. So I'm switching back to 2002.

But I do have something interesting to report. It seems that for some unknown reason with this rom T-Mobile's port blocking on their data services gets avoided. I end up being able to use Agile Messenger w/ T-Mobile's service only on WM2003. If I try it under WM2002 it fails to connect. T-Mobile states it's because they only allow ports 80, 25,110. I'm just curious if anyone else is running this rom on T-Mobile USA and having any other issues?

Seriously.... these US providers need to get on the ball. When most providers here are pushing "Free phone now with COLOR screen" as if color was something all so new.

I've got only one thing to say..

Whee.

Remember this is not a WM2003 phone. It's WM2002. There is no "GSM FIX" patch for 2002.

OK.. this is just plain weird. I've tried 4 different batteries in this phone. It seems to favor a 3.6v 700mah battery. It dies with a 3.7 600mah, dies with a 3.6 600mah and dies with a 3.6 850mah. But with this 700mah battery it has been happier than a clam. I'm stumped as to the cause.

BTW All those other batteries are working FINE in other people's MPXs

My wife's MPX is acting up for no obvious reason. She's been having problems with it just shutting off, no warning. She'll go to make a call and the screen will just go black. I've tried swapping out batteries and that hasn't helped. I've tried a hard reset, and I've even tried a different SP2002 rom. (1.12 -> 1.52)

Any other things to look at or try?

Of course these are unlocked phones and we're not with AT&T... :sigh: T-Mobile Sucks in the US for not having nice phones.

I've made a discovery. It seems not MPX200s have the same battery. The manufacturer spec calls for a battery with 860mah. The batteries that came with my phones were 600mah and 700mah respectively. I also checked with a friend of mine who has the same phone. AT&T recalled his phone because they claimed there was a "problem" with the batteries. Turns out they were sending out batches of phones with cheap non-OEM batteries. (This seems to be a local problem because no one else had heard of this.)

Anyhow. I've ordered two replacement batteries of 850mah from this website http://www.power101.com They aren't OEMs but they have the same mah ratings as OEMs So I'm going to give that a try.

I've also found that on E-Bay they are selling a desktop charger that accomodates both the phone and a spare battery. This may be perfect for you roadwarriors out there who suck up batteries like they're going out of style.

Ok.. I've got two MPX200s here both upgraded to the WM2003 Rom. Both of them are suffering from horrible battery life. I've noticed that one does fair a bit better than the other, and I'm not really sure why. I've tried all the different tips and tricks to extend battery life, and none seem to be working. I'm wondering if replacing the battery will have an effect on this?

I hate to burst this bubble but that procedure didn't work for my phone. I can barely make 5 calls a day without charging. Never had this with WM2002. Unless I can figure out another way to fix this I'm going to have to revert back.

I use the MPX200 with WM2003 on T-Mobile and I have everything working fine. I just re-set the unit up using the settings you can find in the threads here.

Honestly the SIM thing doesn't bother me a bit. It makes more sense to me to ActiveSync my contacts so I can change them easily and have a backup of them if I lose my phone.

Thank you @nonymous for developing and producing something that Micro$oft and Motorolla have failed to produce to keep their customer base happy. The rom is great considering all of the things that probably took place behind the scenes to get it to this point. These companies fail to realize the fact that if it wasn't for developers, technicians and enthusiasts like the people here, their products would fail miserably. Again, Great Job and thanks.

Does anyone know of a Remote Registry Editor that works for SP 2003? The one I was using refuses to install saying something about not able to install device support.

Is it better to charge via USB or Wall Adapter? They both seem to charge to the same point.. Any opinions?

I've had some odd issues since I upgraded the phone.

A) Battery Life: I did the upgrade with a fully charged battery, just as instructed. However I can't get the phone to last a full day. Is there a way to "Recondition" the Battery?

cool.gif Callers Can't Hear Me: I've made 3 calls so far where the signal strength was good but the callers couldn't hear me. I could hear them fine. Usually if I hang up and call back it's fine. Never had this before.

I have a MPX200 and a Compaq IPaq 3830. I can't get them to connect to ActiveSYNC at the same time. I never knew ActiveSync worked on a first come first serve basis. Is there anyway around this? It seems dumb that I can't sync/charge both units at the same time.

*** VENTING BEGIN ***

Well it seems that those of us who are trying to use any form of instant messaging on T-Mobile USA's T-Zones are screwed.

Since Agile messenger is no longer using port 80 to connect to its own server and the out to the messaging service it won't work.

T-mobile T-zones is only allowing ports 80, 25, 110.

Now if we want to pay another $19.99 a month we can have access to ALL internet services. This is kind of lame, just another way they try to milk us out of more money.

*** VENTING END ***

I feel better now.. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

T-Mobile USA tech reps admitted to me today that they are having intermittant problems again with their service. Basically you can't get out to the 'net or if you can it's very limited. I'm really getting upset at their lack of service.

AT&T Wireless Merging with Cingular... Maybe this is the road for me.

T-Mobile is also claiming they are focusing on a new campaign this year. They are not going to expand their territory, but reinforce it. They have commited to installing/upgrading 4,500 sites around the US. So, if you have coverage problems in a specific area and feel you shouldn't, call them and let them know. They apparently have a big map of pins where complaints came from and the squeakyest wheels get the oil.

I've now tried this with 2 different SD Cards. Including the 8MB Orange Card it came with. The unit is intermittantly losing connection with the SD card slot. No hope for repair on this thing here in the U.S. so I guess I live with it untill I can get a MPX200 or a E200 on E-Bay.
