I was on the waiting list and was a bit dubious as to whether it would work, but it did! biggrin.gif

Been playing around with it on my BlackJack 2 and works very nicely. Not quite as quick to load pages as Opera mini, but obviously all the added functionality of the full www is well worth the sacrifice!

Cheers for the tip, and hopefully by the time I return to the UK in a year or two it'll be available there too.

UPDATE:

I still have the same battery for my phone, but I have kept my phone out of Silent mode. No freezups whatsoever in over a week now. I've been charging to full the whole way.

Maybe the error is caused when the phone gets a sound event when it's in Silent mode?

HAHAHA some of you are probably saying, "Get a new phone already JBONE!!!!"

-J

i actually had the same freezing issue with mine too in the first week or two of owning it. i don't know if this fixed it, but i did a hard reset of the device and didn't re-install the GPS hack (GPS worked fine without it).

other than that, i had previously set up the phone to collect my emails by doing a send/receive automatically every 5 mins, but after i did the hard reset i started using an exchange server (mail2web). not sure how this could've affected things, but it's the only other thing I did differently.

haven't had any freeze ups for a few weeks now. not sure if this helps but thought I'd share :-)

Some interesting (and mixed) views about this device!

I've currently got a JAMin, and it looks like the Touch is pretty much the same but much smaller and with the touch interface. Owning a JAMin, I've got used to not having a keyboard so don't think it'll be a problem.

anyway, just wanted to ask those of you who have one - in your opinion is it worth someone with a JAMin shelling out the cash to get a phone that has pretty much the same features but just looks cooler / is smaller?? I've moved out to the US so can't find anywhere to have a play with one before I take the plunge, so any advice would be greatly appreciated smile.gif .

QUOTE(smeg36 @ May 9 2007, 23:28) *
You should be able to use it. Whether it's cable or DSL you still get an ethernet cable coming out of the modem to plug into the router.

Thanks smeg36. So it looks like it will at least be of use as a router if not a modem too.

I think this is my final question now: unsure.gif

I've got a 'normal' radio that picks up FM / AM and short wave that I'm going to take with me. I've also got a 'digital' (DAB) radio. Is it worth taking the digital one to the states, or have they not yet got a digital radio system, or perhaps already have a system that's incompatible?

Cheers guys

Once again guys, thanks a lot for your help with my questions about networks - I didn't realise it would start such a lively debate laugh.gif

I've got another question before my move stateside (not much more than a week to go now!). Will I be able to use my wireless modem/router that I currently have here in the UK? I'm no expert (understatement), but I'm pretty sure over here you have different types of modem depending on whether you get your broadband through cable or through you phoneline (ADSL?). I get mine through the phone line if that help.

Hope someone out there has the answer smile.gif

Thanks a lot for your input pdtp, smeg36 and Paul.

I'm not sure which option to go for, but at least now I know a bit better what my options are.

I'm very tempted just to get prepaid to start with and see how it goes. The cingular thing looks a good deal on that. Just to make 100% sure I understand - my imate jamin will work on cingular, won't it??

thanks again guys smile.gif

Hi Folks,

I'm lucky enough to be swapping Croydon for California in less than a month with a transfer through my company. smile.gif

I'm going to be there for a minimum term of two years, and am obviously going to get a mobile when I get there. At the moment, my main concern is with networks. Will my imate jamin work on all networks over there? If not, which ones?

I had a search online and only found T-mobile US. Some of the low end tariffs seem fine for me, about 40 bucks a month or something. They mentioned that they do pay as you go, but there were no prices. Anyone know about pay as you go prices over there?

Hopefully someone can help, even if it's just a couple of links or tips of what to search for.

Cheers
Adam

Anyone had any luck with the 'Grab and Scroll' feature?

Doesn't seem to work on mine, or have I missed a setting somewhere huh.gif

Forget that, it seems to work now after I closed the app and opened it again tongue.gif

I also downloaded this. It's great, cheers mandt for the tip!

I've got a JAMin and it doesn't have this as standard like an M600. I found a program called EZdial that does it, but decided not to spend $15 on it blink.gif

Cheers again mandt smile.gif

Maybe not ditch them.... tweak them up a bit smile.gif

My Qtek 8310 used to struggle with WLM and skype but worked fine when tweaked up a bit to 228MHz with no real effect on battery life. Don't forget the battery life is MUCH better than my Vario II with a 400MHz Samsung in it wink.gif

I don't want to get too far off topic laugh.gif , but was wondering if anyone has had any problems with increasing the clock speed on this processor?

I guess the answer is no, because I would've seen numerous threads about it by now if it frazzled your device, but that just begs the question why don't the manufacturers tweak them as 'standard'?

Any thoughts on this much appreciated smile.gif

Has anyone got a JAMin that they've had overclocked for a long period without experiencing any problems?

I'm tempted to do it on mine, but it's still new and I don't want to burn it out ir anything blink.gif

I used to have exactly the same problem with my SPV C600. I just had to set up the phone lock, so you enter a pin code before the keypad unlocks.

No more unwanted calls / contacts / profile changes......

Hi All,

Had my C600 for a couple of months and have managed to put a fairly deep approximately 2cm long scratch on the screen. I think it was the result of an unfortunate 'keys in same pocket as phone' incident. (Had my C500 for about 18 months with no scratches to report, so it's really annoying!!!)

Anyway, was wondering if anyone has tried using Displex Display Polish - Scratch Remover:

http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/3298.htm

Looks like it might work, but I'm very wary of making it worse!

Any advice would be great.

Cheers

I had always thought that the initial 'message sent' dialogue on the phone immediately after sending a text was to confirm that your phone has sent the message ie you have sufficient network coverage. I don't have delivery reports turned on and I always get this message immediately after sending unless I am in a place with no coverage and I get a message saying 'message not sent'.

I think you're talking about two different issues here. One message is there to tell you you have sent the message, and the other is there to tell you that the recipient has received it.

QUOTE(Dr_StrangeTrick @ Dec 28 2005, 21:29)
Hi LarsDK the cheapest SmartPHone Sat Nav system around is Mapopolis, its not as polished as TomTom but the maps are much better and the 2006 maps are due very soon.

Here are a few other thoughts on Mapopolis.

Hope this helps.
*

Hi Dr_StrangeTrick

I'm getting my bluetooth GPS receiver for my C600 soon and thinking that Mapopolis is the way to go! I've got a couple of questions though:

1. When it says $124 for a year for western europe, presumably that means you can download every single map of every country in europe from their website in the year and keep and use them forever? Or do they 'expire' in a years time?

2. Can you download all maps of the UK counties to your phone if you were going to do a tour type holiday? I've got a 1Gb card, so would that be enough?

Thanks a lot and cheers for recommending mapopolis. I'm going to download the trial when I get my BT GPS!

Cheers
