I apologise in advance if this is not strictly the best thread to post in but I have searched for the answer. I have a T-Mobile Vario III and an Orange TyTn II arriving on Tuesday (yes I love these devices). Can I (officially or otherwise) use the devices with my laptop and wen n' walk? Is there a thread that I have missed that indicates how I do it? An article in the News of the World today states T-Mobile are introducing a £20 per month unlimited laptop tariff from next month but I would like to use my existing account (and equipment) if possible. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Paul |

Hi there guys and girls I have a T-mobile MDA compact II I have bought a spectec SDIO wireless card, one of the 802.11b/g compatible ones. I installed the drivers and turned off the phone and back on again. I inserted the card and got the wireless I thingy. But it doesnt find any networks, and when i manually enter the network details, it just comes up saying the network is unavailable. The little light on the card lights up, and it appears to search, but the information just doesnt seem to get to the device from the card. Any solutions? Adwatkin19 Spectec issued a new driver on the 14th October. My Blue Angel running WM5 can now connect to 802.11g networks. |

The list of free s/w looks very impressive. Couple of questions. Is the s/w covered by a 12 month license or is it all perpetual? Can it be transferred when I upgrade my PPC? |

I have upgraded my qtek 8310 to have push mail. Now, how do i get it working? Do i have to download a program? Or can hotmail use pushmail? is there a good free pushmail? I searched the site but didnt find out. Visit www.mail2web.com for free Pushmail server. I have used it for 6 months, excellent service. Come back if you still need help setting it up. |

Is that working as it was originally with the SSL box ticked, or with it un-ticked? Mine keeps asking for my password to be entered. When I enter what I think is correct it asks me again? What is the password to put in ActivSync. Is it the one I log-in with on my PC or some other? Thanks Chiz I think lescargot means it now works with SSL ticked (mine now works again). Password for ActiveSync is not a PC password, it is the password you set up with your mail2web account. |

ok, thanks. And does it work the same for you since you've turned SSL off ? do you receive the emails as quickly as before ? thanks again for your help Receipt is immediate with SSL on or off. As indicated by others SSL now appears to work again. Perhaps mail2web have fixed the certificate issue following the emails we sent them (although they haven't replied to the emails). May just be temporary and SSL may fail shortly but it's operational at present. |

yes, I'm using redirection of my emails to web2mail and I also tried a lot of time to send test emails directly to my web2mail address, and it always takes about 2-5 minutes to be sync with my qtek9100 (spvm3000). oh by the way : are you using SSL authentification ? it does not work for me I used SSL for about a month, 10 days ago it stopped working on 3 different PPC's I have. We are guessing they have changed their security certificate. |

ok thanks... mine is set to "as items arrive" too, but still it does not work quite quickly... How do you know there is a delay? Have you tried sending test emails to yourself? You should arrange for mail to be FORWARDED from your ISP rather than COLLECTED by mail2web. Collection does involve very long delays, I was waiting 30 minutes or so when I relied on mail2web collection. |

dear all, same problem for me so I unchecked the SSL and it works... ...but it takes around 5 minutes to get any new message, do you have the same delay ? I also sent them "a brief email regarding their security certificate". be sure I'll let you know aswell if I get any answer. No delay with my pushmail. There is a schedule in ActiveSync, needs to be set to 'as items arrive'. |

mal2web will issue a cert which must be from a trusted supplier Start->Settings-System-Certificates - Root Tab It sounds like they have changed there cert - has anyone asked them? Following your suggestion I have just sent them a brief email regarding their security certificate. I will let you know when (if) I hear back from them. |

Error 0x80072F17 is a certyificate problem - by turning off ssl it doesn't check the certificate and all your email is not secure. It will work but I'm not sure I'd do it! I am reluctant to operate with SSL off but when I'm out of the office I have no choice (or no email). Is the certificate checking down to the PPC, network provider or mail2web? |

Same problem here. I don't think it is a problem with the mail2web servers though because if you uncheck the ssl selection it works. Unchecking SSL does appear to 'fix' the problem. I still suspect mail2web though as SSL connections were working until recently. Either that or the mobile network operator has made a change at their end. I am with T-Mobile, what providers are others experiencing trouble with? |

I have an Orange M600 and have set up a mail2weblive account. Following the excellent guide (http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=240460), I have set up the M600 to accept push email from mail2web. Finally, I have my work and personal email forwarded to mail2web, which is then pushed to the device. And it worked... for a about two weeks... Now whenever I try to send/recieve mail from the mobile, I get the message "Error Synchronizing". If I have the phone connected to my PC, the sync works fine. I have tried setting the M600 to connect to "The Internet" instead of "Orange WAP or GPRS", but nothing seems to work. Has anyone experienced this, or have an idea what could be wrong? Thanks, Tim Exact same problem here, worked fine for 3 weeks and now only works with WiFi. Think it's a problem with mail2web system as my Vario, Prophet & Blue Angel all now fail with GPRS. Suggest someone emails their tech support. |

Why do you say that? I always soft reset my vario without removing the card and have never had a problem. I'm sure many others here do the same I agree. 100 soft resets on Blue Angel, Wizard & Prophet with SD in place without any problems (until Monday). Also some of my startup progs are on the card so it really needs to be in place on reset. |

Bit more information. I checked with file explorer and even put the SD card in a card reader and half my files 'had' gone, not just in program files dir of SD card. I started to copy some files from PC to PPC and suddenly all the files reappeared EXCLUDING the ones in program files. At least all my backups from the root directory have not been lost. I have now made a copy of the program files directory and transferred my backups to PC. Strangely I have some files TWICE on the PPC, EXACTLY the same name, extension etc. This is from copying the files from the PC when they were already on the SD card (albeit invisible at the time). Deleted some of the duplicates and it only removes one copy. Any idea why the files can disappear and reappear? Really bad news when program dir gets wiped. I have been given a tip to remove the SD during soft resets. |

Using an M600 with a 1GB Viking SD card On Sunday I installed Agile Messenger, all went well. Yesterday I made a couple of registry mods (GPRS timer and GPS icon in settings per Wiki WM5 registry changes). Again all went well. Left the PPC on Monday night and this morning it had locked up. Not too worried at this point as PPC's do lock up (like PC's in the early 90's). Soft reset and all hell let loose, after all it is the devils day today (6/6/6). Today screen missing lots of loaded software, Smartskey not working, Agile Messenger not running etc etc. When I checked the SD card half of my programs AND ALL MY BACKUP files were gone. It will take me hours to set up the PPC again. But before I do can anyone explain what happened to the files on the SD card? As it is 6/6/6 I can't help thinking it's the devils work but perhaps it's somethine less sinister. |

Stop mucking about with mobilemessenger! Get the proper app from here Then get the required patch from here Don't worry that its for WM2003 - it works on the m600. Cheers jimbouk, that worked a treat. I'm logged into MSN now. If like me you were daft enough to install mobilemessenger you need to completely remove it and soft reset PPC before running the 2 files. |

install messenger from: http://mobile.msn.com/ac.aspx?cid=pmsn_requirements Thanks I have done that but I'm a bit confused. I have an MSN account (not a Mobile MSN account) but when I try to use MSN Messenger it comes up with 'to use the product, sign up at http://mobile.msn.com'. What does 'signing up' involve and are there any costs? Edit: Looks like it's a one off £10.99 to activate the software. |

when performing a hard reset on the M600 for the standard rom, what what cusomization cabs it runs there is one to remove MSN from the machine, so the base rom has it, and orange removes it during customisation i guess if you unlock the rom and edit the txt file trhat says what cabs to run after hard reset, you could remove the cab that runs msn removal i also guess someone could email the cab file so that those that dont want msn on the device can run the cab and remove it!! Think you are wrong. The file in the Extended ROM is 'PP_RemoveMSNLink.CAB'. This removes a LINK to 'Pocket MSN' but Pocket MSN isn't present in the ROM. All the link does is take you to a web page about Pocket MSN, it doesn't run MSN. Anyone know where we can get the Pocket MSN cab from? |

MSN is in the operating system. If you hard reset and then soft reset within the 3 second warning the Orange cab that removes MSN will not run. Alternatively unlock the extended rom (search xda-developers.com) edit the cab installation file (config.txt) to remove the specific cab (PP_RemoveMSNLink.cab) and do a full hard reset (without soft reset). EDIT: It looks like I was wrong, the link in programs states Pocket MSN (rather than MSN) and when you click it you are taken to a web page to sign up for the paid for mobile MSN. I believe you can use Agile messenger instead of MSN. I will see if I can find a MSN cab. |

I have slightly changed the topic of this, I hope that is OK. Do I have to use someone such as mail2web or can I used push e-mail on my M600 through gmail? The problems I have are: 1. I don't use mail2web on a daily basis so when I activate DirectPush I end up with loads of e-mails not just the most recent ones I was expecting in Gmail. This is because I don't delete them in mail2web but do in gmail. 2. When I send an e-mail it is sent from mail2web, an address that people don't know or mine and not gmail. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Pushmail is normally a paid for service as it requires an Exchange server etc. Gmail doesn't offer it. |
