Cheers - missed that one Is it worth re-flashing it with Imate rom when done, as I was only after a sim unlock? Cheers I found my C600 (which wasn't AKU2'd) was a damn sight faster with the imate ROM. Loads more responsive and it was good to lose the orange branding all over the place too. Be prepared to mess about with lots of MMS/GPRS/WAP settings though because those are all cleared by flashing it. |

Thanks for treading the ground, the dust from my pockets is making its way behind the screen of my C600 now, getting very annoying. Cheers for the guide. |

Well I've gone ahead and done it now - I felt more confident after I found and followed the guide to backing up the Typhoon ROM here, but I'll answer this anyway. I think the question here is, other than getting the latest, ... What do you hope to gain with an SP5 ROM ? What is it that is missing or ... TomTom Mobile 5.20 runs stable on the imate ROM on a C600. I can tell you from first hand experience that there is nothing stable about running it on the factory shipped Orange ROM. Now having done this, I can also tell you that it is fully stable on the iMate ROM. There's also the added benefit of removing the Orange branding, which makes the interface look a bit neater, and a whole lot more responsive. Shorter startup/shutdown times too. |

I've been trawling forums all day before I flash my C600 with an Imate ROM, and I want to run the procedure past people who've done it before I do because I don't want to shag it up. I've already app&sim unlocked the phone, and the CID is in Super 11111 mode. All feedback on the below greatly appreciated: 1: iMate SP5 ROM or SP5m ROM? (As far as I can tell, the SP5m is the C550 equivalent, so I'd be better off with the SP5?) 2: Are any standard Orange SPV C600 features lost by using the iMate ROM? 3: is there any way to reverse this, ie: is there a copy of the original Orange ROM anywhere? I don't really care unless the answer to number 2 was yes. 4: does the ROM update wipe the entire device? does it affect the miniSD card in any way, or just the internal storage? |

My C500's display became so full of dust that it wasn't usable outdoors during the day. I've now had my C600 for about a month, and I've just noticed a few large specks of dust under the screen. Is it too unreasonable to think that they'd have worked out how to seal the display between the C550 and the C600? |

If there's no navigator.cfg file in the TomTom directory, it'll scan all the voices on startup, which could make it slow. This file isn't created until setup is completed. |

Mine crashes back to the screen i started the tomtom exe file from. I get the legal disclaimer, I agree to that, then I get a blue main screen display with the welcome to tomtom mobile message. This message blinks once, then tomtom freezes and a few seconds later it bombs back to windows. I've tried this: http://www.modaco.com/Trouble_with_TomTom_...52-t233897.html (although I've just got /TomTom/picturefile and /Storage Card/My Documents/TomTom/picturefile - neither make a difference). Any other ideas why it could be so unstable? |

QUOTE(bleep @ Jan 26 2006, 22:44) anyone using tomtom on a c600 ?? Ive just installed it and when I try to change the voices in the menu it has so far taken me over 30mins to get past 7 voice options. anyone expereinced this Yeah, I had this. I wiped out my voices directory and got a different version, eventually it worked and is much more responsive in the voice selection page. |
