Greenturtle,

Are you able to tell us what the name of the "Free internet browsing any time" was called would make it easier for me to get it added to my account when I upgrade next week? I have been in a dispute with Orange for the last 6 weeks (2 of which i have had no service) and am about to go tell Orange to stick their service where the sun does'nt shine. The only thing that will keep me is some unlimited data service an a Touch Dual.

Regards
J

Hey Chucky,

I have been looking at the Jawbone and Panatronics 655 today, while they both can charge from USB they both require some kind of adapter cable/cradle to connect.

Hopefully someone may have some good suggestions soon!

BTW: Jawbone is kinda pricey but the audio quality is meant to be really good.

Hey Everyone,

I am looking for a new Bluetooth Headset, (old Jabra 250v has just died), but have not really found anything I like. Was just wondering what others are using with their WM devices, and if anyone has any recommendations.

I would like USB charging, support for 2 devices and noise cancelling if possible wink.gif

Have already looked at the Jawbone and the Jabra JX10.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks All,

PS: if this is in the wrong section of the forum please PM me and ill move it accordingly.

You can get it on the xda-developers forum. I am unsure if attaching it here is allowed, so I haven't.

I can confirm it's a lovely slick app though wink.gif

Are you allowed to link to the XDA site?

I received a new memory card yesterday (SandDisk UltraII). Completely reset the device and installed it, after a little while the same issue occurred.

I called up Orange (I had not purchased the handset from them) and started off the fault process with them, eventually after quite a few "on holds" they said I would have to pay £100 for emergency care to have it replaced. As I am out of contract I said no, and they gave me contact details for HTC.

Thing is, overnight the issue has not manifested itself, so I am starting to think it may have been the SD card again now sad.gif. Back to sq1, Ill just have to wait and observe, hopefully it won't happen again.

I have this problem too after I replaced my first one. No problems for 4 months, got it replaced and had problems after just a week. Does your serial number start with HT640 as well?

I have a spare 1gb micro SD card I will try with tomorrow!

Hello Fredde,

I assume when you say you got it replaced you mean you had the phone replaced and not the storage card. My serial begins HT636, did you suspect there was a bad batch of handsets in there somewhere?

Hello,

I have had a quick search and couldn't find anything relating to my issue on the forum.

I have a SPV M3100 with a 2gb Sandisk MicroSD card. It has been working well until about 4 weeks ago when I recognised that my emails did not contain any contents only a header. I have setup the device to store all messages (MAPI folders, using the registry tweak) on the memory card.

Further investigation revealed that when I browsed the contents of the card with File Explorer the folders would be listed for the storage card, but no contents were available. Seemed like the directory structure was held in memory, but the access to the memory card had gone.

Upon restarting I would find that I regained access to the contents of the memory card, but of course the messages which arrived while the memory card was inaccessible did not contain a message body, only the header (which i assume is held in phone memory). It seems like the memory card becomes inaccessible after about 20-30 minutes after the restart.

My question is:

1) Has anyone experienced this before?
2) Is it the memory card or the reader component on the phone causing it?

BTW: I unfortunately don't have a spare MicroSD to check with.

Any ideas would be appreciated, otherwise I'll just order a new MicroSD (probably an Ultra II this time). Does anyone know if the phone realises a performance increase using a high speed memory card? ie when launching an application from storage card.

Regards
Jay

Tried updating the ROM but my phone restarts a the first step and when trying ot re-connect i get an error saying "wceusbsh.sys" is missing and it gives me the option tolocate it but i cant find it on my system.

Are you trying to run the update in Vista? Didn't work for me, and is not a listed OS in the support pages for the update.

I had to boot into XP, forgot that i didn't have ActiveSync installed and it came up with a missing file error (though i cannot remeber which file it was reporting missing). Once AS 4.5 was installed worked like a charm.

Is it potentially one of these?

I just updated and I have the 3G icon at the top of my screen.

WRT the today screen, I assume you mean Settings > Today > Appearance. In here i have the Guava Bubbles, Orange2006 and Windows Default themes available.

Did your device run the Orange customization script after you calibrated the screen?

Hey All,

Sorry for bringing this up again everyone must be getting sick of this Orange Unlimited bundle stuff!

I have just had a chat with about 3 CSRs at Orange with regards to the mentioned "Orange World Unlimited", "Orange World Browsing" bundle. It appears that they can't find it anymore. I had a chat with a CSR last week about it and she was looking at the terms etc to find out if I was able to add it to my current talk plan (which i wasn't). Anyway, it seems like between last week and this week it has disappeared.

Has anyone else recently (last 7 days) managed to get the bundle applied by retentions?

Thanks for any input smile.gif

Hey,

Does anyone know if windows mobile features an event log similar to the desktop operating systems. My SPV M3100 has recently started locking up a lot during the day and while on charge at night, and I would like to be able to find some information that may help me diagnose the problem.

Many Thanks

I too have a certificate issued by an authority on my network.

The only times I get prompted for passwords is when the password exipration policy has forced me to change my AD account password and I have done so from winxp.

Just to note, I set my IIS listener connection timeout to 1800 seconds (as recommended here), but I'm not sure how this would cause the device to keep on prompting for passwords.

BTW: Does the device ever ask for a password when you manually run activesync?

I'm not sure exactly what could be causing this, I'm you have ticked the save password option when you enter the password.

Perhaps you could install the Microsoft Exchange Server ActiveSync Web Administration Tool:Download on the front end exchange server.

I have used this before to delete sync partnerships on the exchange server, you could try to delete the sync partnership and then try forcing a sync on the device and see what happens.

Hey,

I have not seen any posts on the hermes and clear type so i thought i would ask the question. Has anyone recognised that clear type is disabled when the device enters landscape mode?

If anyone has recognised, does anyone have a reason why?

Thanks

Hey Everyone,

I just called orange, and the CS rep put me through to the data team, who promptly said that there was no £8 unlimited bolt on. When I asked him to go find out he just said there was definitely not one on the system. (typical orange CS blink.gif )

Im guessing they have not told all the CS reps yet and I got stuck with an arrogant lazy employee. Wozbacca if you got it enabled, did you catch a name for the new bolt on?

Thanks

Hello Everyone,

I have been trying to get one of the new Orange data bundles applied to my account. They are named as Microsoft (Basic | Standard | Extra | Max | Modem) (http://www.coolsmartphone.com/news2295.html). The costs for these bundles are considerably lower than the "Orange World" bundles, and unfortuantly i have about 8 months left on my contract so i can't move over to tmob.

Every time i try to get the bundle applied to my account i get a different answer from orange CS from "it does not exist" to business only. I am a home/personal customer so if there are any of you out there whom have managed to get this applied please let me know.

Many Thanks
Jay

Welcome to the forums jayz1220.

Don't believe that's possible (yet). Besides you need to have WiFi enabled all the time and that's not to good for battery life. You need an application that scans for WiFi networks all the time (again, that would be doing something with battery life) and AFAK something like that is only just around for the PPC platform.
Out of curiousity, what benefit would you get from such functionality?
*

Hello Roma,

Thanks for the reply. You are correct in the battery life assumption. I have been using the handset for a few days now, and it is clear that the battery drains very quickly if it is set to stay on all of the time. I guess its better to state that perhaps the application could just go do it automatically then, maybe when you know you are in a Wifi serviceable area it could find of the access points and login to the service automatically.

You asked why i might want such a feature, simply put GPRS is expensive, and as I already have a bt openzone account for my laptop i thought it would be nice to make use of it on my mobile. These days when i am in the city i am nearly always in reach of a service provider access point.

Anyway ill keep my eyes open, have had a play with the compact .net sdk, never know i might even work out how to implement it one day laugh.gif

I've got ActiveSync scheduled for every 5 mins, but it fails more often than it works.

It is trying to sync, but because I don't have GPRS setup the only comms channel is WiFi, which doesn't wake up when the scheduled time comes around.  I dont want to sync over GPRS anyway (I don't actually use GPRS anymore - Wifi for everything now).

Is there anyway to get it to turn WiFi on to sync, without me having to press anything at the time, so that it can sync even when the device is "off"?
*

I know exactly what you mean there chucky, but i have GPRS setup too. The GPRS counter edges up overnight when its checking for mail from exchange. The wireless network is well within range, and only sometimes is connected. The only way i found so far to rectify this was to disable all the wifi power settings, so it stayed connected constantly, obviously not something that we want to be doing.

I also found that sometimes when the wireless was not connected and i wanted to fire up PIE it would instantly use the GPRS, and at other times it would wait for the wireless to connect before downloading data.

Does anyone have any ideas what it could be?
BTW using Imate SP5.

Hello Everyone

This is my first post smile.gif.

I have been trying to look for a WM5 app that would enable me to enter my wifi login credentials and when the device finds an access point, to automatically login to the providers network.

Ill elaborate:

Say i have a BT Openzone voucher, i would like the app to have a list of BT Openzone partners (T-Mobile, ........) and when it sees any of these networks in the Available Wireless network list, to go away and login to the network in the background using my username/password.

To login to the bt openzone network from a T-Mobile access point i would normally click on a partner link, which would take me to the BT login page, so im guessing that all partner login sites are available from all partner access points.

This probably sounds a bit unclear so if you don’t understand any part of it, or perhaps have identified an error in any of my assumptions please comment. And most important of all if anyone knows of such software that can do this for the windows mobile 5 (Smartphone) platform please reply smile.gif.

Many Thanks for your time.
