No under file, with the phone disconnected I just have, Get Connected, Connection Settings & Close, everything else is grey'd out. If I connect the phone I just get the connecting screen & all the menus are grey'd out |

Ok I'm really confused. I think I'm on modaco. But when I do a search for my posts I find all the stuff I posted on here as well as mobiholics, if I do a search on mobiholics I find the stuff on here. I'm trying to look for my posted that was titled M500 vs Activesync. Nope gone. Why are the forums linked in this way? Does anyone else find it frustrating?? |

yeh I plugged it into my old mans PC & it does exactually the same thing. Just to rub salt in the wounds he's just got a M3100 that he plugged in & it syncs first time. I think the problem might be that the PC knows the phone in a partnership, but becuase either the phones name or the pcs name has changed it cannot connect, unfortunalty I've no idea what either name was before. I han't find anywhere to canel or delete any current partnerships. I thought when you connected it for the first time it would bring up the partnership window & setup what it can & cannot sync with, this doesn't, it automatiaclly selects Guest & then cannot connect. |

This is all interesting stuff. Personally I've never had a major issue with Orange. Their customer service used to be second to none. I've only had one sticking point with them - when I upgraded to my M500 I couldn't have it on the contract I wanted, so I went to Express Communications, got my deal, lost my number though. - Then I had (& still have) a major problem, my contract is double what was agreed. I've tried to call Express but the number no longer works, so I spoke to Oranged & they said tuff luck basicly. About 3 weeks later I decided I really wanted my old number back & was willing to pay for it if need be. So I rang orange, the first guy I spoke to was quite helpful as usual, he explained that the number was still allocated to my name but had been deactivated. He wasn't sure how I could go about reactivating it & replacing my current number, but said he would put me through to someone that could help, well this next guy was obviously one of the new school, very short, very arrigont, very unhelpful. He just said no can't be done. I explained that I was willing to pay for it, he said no, I explained that it was still allocated to my name & could I attach it to another contract - no. He game the impression I was wasting his time & had interrupted his game of minesweeper for something. Then the other day I was talking to my father who is also with Orange & was looking at upgrading to bring the land line on too, he couln't get anyone from Orange to call him back other than the rather insistant salesman that was rather put out when the old man told him where to go if thats how Orange now treats its customers. As far as I can see all their problems seem to have come in overnight - about the time they took over Wanadoo! I'm about to call them to find out when my contract ends, then I'm seriously thinking of T-Mobile |

Hi guys wonder if you could help. For whatever reason my SPV M500 has stopped syncing to my PC. I've spent the last couple of nights trying to fix the problem but have only resulted with less hair than when I started! What was doing was to just not connect, the little spinny green arrow thing would stay grey. Not really a problem as I only used to sync once a month & used the PC to charge the phone. Then the other day I lost the SPV, dunno how it just dissapeared. Thankfully I found it. However the backup battery has gone flat! Erasing all my data & contacts. First I was quite annoyed then though hey, this isn't a problem - its a posh phone I can just resync with the PC & all will be dandy. er no. I've played with every setting, I've disabled my firewall & Windows own, I've disabled my anti-virus, I've uninstalled, reinstalled - even reloaded the pc - & have downloaded the latest ActiveSync software. To startr with I was getting the usual 'bong-bing' to say it was connected & the spinny green arrow thing would spin & spin - & spin, the window just saying 'connecting' although after about a hour I gave up & pulled the plug (Open ActiveSync on the phone & it says connected). Now when I replug the phone in - it doesn't start to sync. So I have to close ActiveSync & restart it, reconnect the phone & we're off again. I've played round with some random settings on both the phone & the PC & all of a sudden it works, sort of. It now says its connected on the PC, but hangs when I try to either explore the phone or restore a backup. I've tried Microsofts website & quite frankly I got more advise from our dog! To top it off my fathers SPV C550 has started to do exactly the same thing. Please help before I go completely bald!!! |

right, oks I think we have one to many terms here. My phone is sync-ing with my PC fine. My phone is backing up to my PC fine. However the last time I had to do a hard rest on my phone I lost all of my contacts. & it did not restore them from the backup on the PC. If I go to Tools > Options in the Synic Options list, Contacts is listed but there is no tick box next to it. I am reluctent to delete the partnership as last time I did this it took me a age to get all the phone name back right again. The only thing I have installed from the CD is active sync. The problem I am having is I don't think its backing or syncing my contacts up. |

I backup my M500 to my PC everynight using ActiveSync via a USB cable. How can I back up my contacts list? There is a option in the configeration of ActiveSynic but it needs to connect to a server?? I could do with backing them up as its just taken me the last 3 hours to program in all the names & addresses, websites & email addresses of everyone in my contact lists, for the 3rd time & its getting a little tiresome. lol |

Tomtom's great I have it on my M500. Used it proper for the first time Thurs & it got the there & back without issue. Before you defect you need to call Express Communications, they did the deal on my M500, undercut everyone & just kept giving me stuff! lol I'll dig out the number if you wish. |

Having got my M500 replaced I reinstalled tomtom & updated the maps no worries. My dad has a SPV C550 & is also running tomtom, but his uses pull postcode's were as mine uses half codes. Does anyone know where the 'zip' folder is for the postal codes on my SPV? I was hoping to just copy his files over rather than buying a update for mine. |

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I run the update & I've broken it! Very dimly like the backlight isn't on & on the screen is USB & V1.00, if I pull the usb cable it comes up with SERIAL & V1.00 I've done a soft & hard reset with no joy, I left it a couple of hours & it rebooted, started to install the software then went back to the above. HELP! Does anyone have the orignial rom so I can try & reflash it that way?? |

I would do mate but I have this thing on a 2 year contract  Right quick update, all seems well *touch wood* I gave it to my father today & told him to abuse the tomtom, being a delivery driver n all lol. 1 hour after he leaves I get a phone call to say it still isn't working. When he got back I had a quick look & remembered that I hadn't assigned the GPS to a comport under the bluetooth settings, that done tomtom is working again. I have given it to him again for another days abuse tomorrow. I'll report back. |

QUOTE(chucky.egg @ Mar 24 2006, 10:49) If you did a Hard Reset you would have had to CHOOSE to re-install PPC Profiles Pro, so if you don't know you probably dont have it. Does the Flight Mode message come up in anything else? Can you make calls out? (I'm assuming yes, as the GPRS indicator would go off too if you were actually in flight mode) Try putting flight mode ON, switching off, switching on, flight mode OFF Right first off I'd like to thank you for your help so far. I have not found anything else which complains about it, other than Tomtom & I think that is due to the bluetooth because if I enable that withou starting Tomtom I brings the error up. Yup I have full signal & am able to make & recivie calls. I have done what you have suggested. I turned on flight mode, took the battery out & rebooted then turned flight mode off, after a while it found some signal so I have turned the bluetooth on, it so far hasn't brought the error up. So things are looking good. Do you know if this is a permanent fix or will I have to do this every so often? Would leaving the bluetooth on 24/7 stop the error? I have the phone chraging / backing up in my PC, the trouble is it has no signal in my office where its plugged in, I wonder if this doesn't help as sometimes it takes ages before it finds a signal if left overnight. Sometimes I have to turn it off & back on again to get it to re-register with the network |

erm I have no idea mate, you'll have to talk me through where I'd find it so I can nuke it. I did a full hardware reset on the phone & lent it to my old man just in case I threw it somewhere I regretted later (there are alot of rivers around here) and I have just heared back that it was STILL coming up with "Turn off Flight mode". I've yet to hear the whole story this time tho. Yeh so if you could just talk me through how/where to find it that would be very useful cheers. |

I have been with Orange for yonks & think they are brill, always helpful always polite always there. I have only had a couple of issues with them, 1 was not letting me port my number from contract to buisness. 2, wouldn't do the deal I wanted. I went to Express Communications, very good people it took 3 days but I got the phone I wanted on the contract I wanted & they kept throwing free stuff at me the longer I took to sign. |

I use Microsofts Voice job on my M500 & yes it can be a pain but most of the time its fine, I find you have to leave a small pause between: "Call" | & then sometimes "Correct" works other times "Yes" So I'd say about 80% of the time it gets it. |
