QUOTE(gibson99 @ Oct 18 2008, 11:05) *
OUt of interest, what do you not like about it? Also, can you use the main phone functions, eg text messaging, without needing the stylus at all?

The main thing to note is, I came to the Pro from the Hermes spv m3100 . . . so the slide out keyboard is the same but the things I don't like are:-
1 no scroll wheel! it would be good if someone could come up with a hack that used the volume keys (which are where the scroll key was on the Hermes)
2 the power key is in a different place (I am slowly getting used to that though!)
3 there's only one programable hardware key!

That's about it really.

As for doing texts without the stylus yes there are several text input methods, it just a case of sliding to messages then the new icon then text away! I personally use the hardware keyboard for text and emailing, which is easy to usse even though the keys are slightly smaller than the hermes

Hi,
If you're on the Orange network there's antivirus software to download on Orange World. It's FSecure Mobile Antivirus, it cost £1.50 a month and this is added to your monthly bill. I know this isn't freeware but at least it does the job.

Hello I used to do it that way too on my C600.

However if it's the same, someone told me via these pages all you need to do is press and hold the *T9 button (bottom left),
then select item 6 ( T9 Settings) then item 2 (My Words)

It certainly is a lot easier

Hi you don't need to go through the menus to lock the keypad, the easiest way is to just press and hold the red end call button.

Hi

go to file manager Then press Menu and select "Find"

type t9 into file name

and change the folder to windows (menu key scroll down to windows then press done)

then press start

a list of all "t9" relaled files should appear

scroll down to "T9MyWord.exe" then press menu and select Run

A big list of all your words will be there

just scroll down and delete the ones you don't want (Menu Delete)

Thanks for your advice

Thanks for the advice though

Hello all you good people.

I've asked this before but no one at the time knew the answers to my proplem.

The problem is my C600 keep beeping and telling me to delete unused or old items.

As I said before all pictures, programs and other stuff is stored on a 2Gb card (which still has over 1.5Gb left unused)
If you go to system info in Task Manager it says I have 16.95Mb of storage memory of which 14.25Mb is used.
I can't send MMS Messages (cos theres not enough memory)
All in all I'm a bit annoyed by the whole thing!! mad.gif

I phoned orange all they suggested was to do a master reset which I did but now after about a month everything is full again.

Please help

Thanks

Thanks so far but. . . I have emptied the deleted items folder and all new applications are on the card and it wont let me delete or move the storagelow.exe file.
Am I just being thick here is there something obvious I'm missing?

How do you go about doing a registry tweak?

I'm at a loss

I don't know you just get one problem sorted, then another one pops up it's ugly head!!

This time (although I've got a 2Gb Memory card) (which I know has nothing to do with it) my bloomin phone keeps beeping and telling me "your device is running low on memory, delete old or unused items"

I have Resco Battery & memory installed and this tells me I have:-

Total Memory 62.0 MB
Program Memory 45.1MB 52% used
RAM Memory 16.9MB 94% used

Storage Card 1.9GB 1% used

So the BIG question is . . . What is causing the memory usage?

I have less contacts than I had on my C500, I've deleted all old text and e-mail messages, there's no pictures or video stored on the phone its self, just on the card.

Is ther anything I can move to the card to reduce memory usage?

Thanks for your help

I'm pleased you've had the same success as I've had. It took a while but I'm a happy chappy now, I hope this helps more people out there. However I couldn't have done it without the tips I got from this thread, so a BIG thank you goes out to all the lovely people who answered my needs.

Thanks again

Neil

Sorry for not replying sooner but I've had the mother of all weeks at work so the computer took a major back seat.

What I did was shutdown Zone Alarm then Synced? (doesn't look right that) my phone then re-started Zone Alarm and went to the program control section and allowed everything ActiveSync related to My Trusted Zone
There were 3 items

ActiveSync Application . . WCESMgr.exe
ActiveSync Connection Manager . . wcescomm.exe
and
ActiveSync RAPI Manager . . rapimgr.exe

Then everything went OK

Good Luck

Sorry again for the late reply

Hi its armsy here again.

After my problems with ActiveSync and uninstalling the Sygate Firewall and using Windows Firewall, I was a bit worried about protection still. So I tried Comodo Firewall which to say the least was C*@p it had all the same problems as Sygate.

Anyway long story short I now have the FREE Zone Alarm available here http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/cata...g=en&lid=nav_za and after a little bit of tweaking everything is working just fine and dandy!! biggrin.gif smile.gif biggrin.gif

I use Sygate personal firewall.

I did read on other peoples post that the fire wall may cause problems, but according to mine it should be allowed.

Would switching to the normal Microsoft firewall make a difference?

Thanks

Ok I may not be the brightest button in the box!

But anyway, I've recently upgraded from a C500 to a C600 and here's where the prolem arises.

when I try to sync my phone with my pc all goes well for the 1st couple of minutes then a box appears saying "retrieving setting" and that's it. . . . it stays like this until I pull the USB plug from my phone.
after I do this another box appears saying stuff about problems and I should consult active sync help, (which I have done but there was nothing usefull).

Can any of you lovely people out there advise me on what I should do?

Please make your answers as easy as possible to understand

Thanks sad.gif

Hi I use a pqi (whoever they are!!!!) card in my C500 and it works just fine. It is only 512MB though (if that makes a difference). So I would not worry too much. the only issue really is the price.
