Alrighty so here we go. I had a T-Mobile wing, kept it in my pocket like I always have, and how I kept my MDA with me for years. Magically, the screen cracked at the lower left side. What gives? I wasn't contorting my body in odd ways or pressing against the screen, but it destroyed itself. I found the service manual online and will buy a new LCD off ebay, fortunately I had another Wing laying around. I also have a couple Dashes. One will turn on, screen lights up, windows boot sounds play, but the screen is solid white. Any ideas? I haven't tried reflashing but I didn't see how it would help. Although, I don't know if it's a physical problem since the screen does light up...it just stays white. The second dash was running unbelievably sluggish and I could not navigate the start menu to format it. I decided to update the firmware to the newest one on T-Mobile's site, which went well, but then when I restarted the phone...it would freeze momentarily at the splash screen/animation, then go to "auto configuring" and when it hit 2% would always turn off. When I restarted the phone, it would give me a BSOD (sweet! didn't know they exist in WM) saying the device was unexpectedly turned off, possibly due to the battery being removed or low power. When I pressed ok (or yes, can't remember), it'd go back to the auto configure and turn off again. I tried a few times, no luck, and tried reflashing but couldn't since it wouldn't load the OS. Oddly, while typing this thread, it fixed itself. |

You're comparing apples and oranges... Sometimes, pulling out a laptop, no matter how small, is not the practical decision. When I'm on the go, it's very nice to be able to pull out my phone and go online to buy tickets to concerts as soon as they're released, bid on ebay, check email, listen to music, take pictures, etc. |

Hey, how yard do you think it would be to put a 3.2mm jack in the MDA? I just use bluetooth headsets so don't really have a use for the jack other than music. I would think the hardest part would be taking the MDA apart then just sodering a larger jack out of some old electronics and maybe having to shave a bigger hole in the case. I'm aware you could just buy an adaptor but I personally enjoy modding crap and cutting back on the accessories. Such as a mod I read about yesterday to build wifi into the old xbox. Any suggestions or ideas? |

grrrrr...why does usa get the crappy end of the wireless stick. Unlimited internet is 29.99 here and no plans for TMo 3G? I understand our network is a little larger and costlier to upgrade than the uk...but we got plenty of subscribers and would like 3g too... |

QUOTE(Webreaper @ Apr 3 2006, 11:33) I'm using TCPMP - I can't get WMP to play video direct from a network share at all (it doesn't seem to understand \\server\folder\file style paths at all). I think it's definitely a network issue - I re-encoded a 600Mb divx file down to a 149Mb 320x240 divX file using pocketdivxEncoder, but when I play it across the network it's still not smooth. The problem I have is that the files play fine for 20-30s, but then they pause - I get the 'spinning rainbow thingy' - then the video continues to play. Whilst it's playing, everything is smooth as silk (even on the full-sized 650Mb divx file); it's the pauses while the player catches up that's the problem. I'm absolutely convinced it's a network speed problem, particularly as it's much worse if I have the wifi setting on 'best battery'. I tried running OmapClock to overclock to 240Mhz, and there was no improvement (other than my hands weren't as cold lol sorry I forgot you were streaming over the network... Not sure what to tell ya on that if you have a good signal. I would just recommend a sd card...I got a 1gb for 55...and you can find them cheaper. Are there any buffering settings you can play with in tcpmp? |

for the guy talking about video...what media player are you using? If it's media player I recommend you get tcpmp...I encoded a file and it was horribly choppy on media player...but on tcpmp was smooth as silk. |

Being that the MDA was just released in the USA, I doubt there are any new roms for it. The ones that are being released are for the UK ones...afaik |

Haha thanks laser, I'll try those out. I figured there was a tool for it Actually our work computers are all connected via ethernet cables so...don't think they'll help too much with the settings? Cingular also has a stupid hole on one of the servers we connect to allowing remote desktop access that I found out of boredom... Interesting amount of ram and number of processors... Also a nice nice connection, I downloaded a 3mb file in less than a second. |

Well I hate paying money of course but this is a bit frustrating. It might not even be possible. Anyway I have a proxy set up with T-Zones so I can use Internet Explorer. Everything else like Opera, WinMobile Torrent, Pocket MSN, and Agile Messenger can't connect. If there's a way, how can I get them to work? If there's a way and you tell me how, and it works, I'll PayPal you $10. |

QUOTE(minty1978 @ Mar 31 2006, 15:17) darn...was hoping for a useful post... Since you asked, dialup is a type of internet connection. It works by using a standard phone line to call a server, which acts as an internet gateway. In some rural areas, and places secluded from cities, it's one of the few internet access options. I prefer to live away from people, such as those that post useless things on forums, and make sacrifices for it. |

Ok, so I'm sitting here at work (Cingular customer service...) and I see wireless access points all over the building. Why can't I even see the network? We have a crazy fast connection and I'd like to be able to download files to my 1gb SD since I have dialup at home. Anyway, I've never had problems connecting to WIFI but here I can't even find the netwrok when I enable WIFI. Any ideas? The other problem. Whenever I try to download a file through GPRS it says the file is too big. I'm not sure what the limit is but I'm guessing it's around 500k. Any fix for that? Thanks |

Hmmmmmmmm weird, do any of you have the USA T-Mobile MDA? I can find the setting, but it's already set to false (0) and whenever I turn it on, it actually enables a second notification. I get the usual "Message has been sent" then I get the one from "system administrator" that also tells me the message has been sent. |

hey, just as the title states I'm trying to figure out how to diable the notification you always get when a message is sent. Not only is it annoying, I send a few hundred a day and sure the extra ring/vibrate doesn't help. I know there's a registry setting, I tried searching the forum but couldn't find the information on it and didn't notice it while browsing the registry. thanks! |

I have a T-Mobile MDA...I figure if I use this ROM I'll have to manually enter a lot of the T-Mobile Settings. Which ones should I back up and should I just stick with the current ROM? |

Ok so two or three people have mentioned in this thread that you can access regular pages through changing the proxy settings...what changes need to be made? I remember seeing one of the settings set to port 80...going to try changing to 8080 |

Actually I've used the opera browser for ppc with wifi, but can't use it over gprs/edge because I can't figure out how to access the regular internet with the T-Mobile Web crap. This is why I want to try the java browser because supposedly it reformats the pages and sends them through wap which I supposedly have. Thanks for the help! |
