QUOTE(Ves @ May 25 2008, 23:07) *
Have you tried this If you haven't make sure you check the IMAP option in your Gmail account options

QUOTE(Ghost_1 @ May 26 2008, 04:21) *

I have done both. the thing is, is that WM6.1 has removed the check box for the manual configuration. sad.gif

With regards to your gmail problem (If you've not got it sorted yet) I managed to get gmail IMAP to work by inputting a fake e-mail address at the start of the process.
(item 3 on Google's link above "Enter your Google Mail username (including '@googlemail.com') in the E-mail Address field.")

You then get the option to input your own manual config and select IMAP. You can then change the address back once the account is created.

Hope that helps

They need to make it a consumer offering, and introduce a decent consumer data plan.

In my experience previously, you have been able to get smartphones in the business section from Vodafone on a consumer contract, I got the V1240 just by asking for it by name when ordering (you can't do this on the website though) I agree about the need for a decent data plan!

To scared to try this without advice, but has anyone tried to charge their Vodafone v1240 (Qtek) with a C500 charger?

If it worked this would save me on buying more charging accessories!

Both the chargers have the same HTC Model number - ADP-5FH D made by Delta Electronics.

The only difference I can see is the C500's is 5.15V and the v1240's is labelled 5V, is this enough to kill the v1240?
What does the USB cable charge at, 5V?

Both batteries are the same 3.7VDC but with different Model numbers ST26A & ST26B (1050mAh and 1150mAh) which are apparently interchangable, as you can buy both as replacements.

Would be chuffed if someone has tried this, if not I won't risk breaking my new phone . . . cheers!

I've just purchased Pocketx Photo contacts pro for my Vodafone v1240 and it is very good.

With a bit of messing around you can get it to display the full image resolution in full screen 240x266 (minus the top and bottom bar)

The only thing I don't like is the large yellow text you are forced to have when in full screen mode, does anyone know how to change the size, colour, or even remove it altogether to just display the image? I can't find any settings to do this!

cheers

Is the v1240 available on normal contracts with Vodafone or just the Business accounts? It only appears to be listed in the Business store on their website.

I think many blueangel users from all networks have experienced this problem, mine did from T-Mobile (MDA3) I don't currently use my MDA as a phone (use my SPV C500) only use it for satnav. I have just updated the MDA3 rom from t-mobile so may try to use it as a phone again to see if it's made any difference to this issue.

Help! I'm tearing my hair out here trying to get the T-Mobile UK GPRS and MMS settings on my C500 correct and working again (wish I'd took note of them before apyling the C500 update)

Here's what I've got now -

GPRS Settings -
Connects to: The Internet
Access point: general.t-mobile.co.uk
User name: user
Password: wap (also tried one2one as I've seem both mentioned!)
Primary & Secondary DNS & IP address: (left blank)

MMS settings -
Description: T-Mobile MMS
MMSC address: mmsc.t-mobile.co.uk:8002
Data connection: MMS Network
Gateway: WAP 1.0 Gateway
IP Address: 149.254.211.010
Port: 9201

Please can someone check the above incase I've made some foolish error! Is there anything else I've missed (do I also need MMS setting for a GPRS connection in 'Data Connections'?)

When sending an MMS I instantly get a failed message report (that can't be opened) and when trying to connect to the Internet I get the "Unable to connect" message. (I do have a [G] displayed at the top of the homescreen.)

Thanks!

After my MPx200 I decided to leap to the PPC platform and got myself the MDA3 on T-mobile, it is an impressive device but is just not practical to take with you all the time, so I got a C500 off of eBay to use as my second unit.

I was intending on switching between the two, but to be honest I've been using the C500 for weeks and only occasionally using the MDA3 at home with my wifi router for occasional browsing (don't even put my sim back in the MDA!)

Text messaging and general phone functions are a lot less fiddly on the C500, which is why I've stuck to it for my most used phone, the MDA3 is a great show off device for videos and web browsing etc. . . I will still bring it out now and again and I'm considering using it for in car GPS soon.

Yeah, I've had this a couple of times,

You don't have to soft reset, just stop other running programs in the memory and try again (effectively the same as what doing a soft reset does!), That works for me!

I got Sky+ installed the other week and the Sky engineers use a similar system on an XDA2. I too had to sign on the XDA and the software sent the info back to base

Cool! 8)

Something I noticed yesterday, I received a photo message while my MDA3 was in my pocket, the device was in button locked mode but when I received the message it unlocked the buttons and had turned the screen on (as it does for texts etc.) but also had remained connected to GPRS!

Fortunately I hadn't pressed anything while it was in my pocket and acidentally done some covert browsing!

If you did disable GPRS would this stop you receiving MMS messages also? or are these separate settings?

Let me know if this works for you.

Ricky.

You're right this does work Ricky, you can also get the contacts by tapping on the "To:" at the top of the message. This puts the correct ";" punctuation in for you, but just displays the number not the name of the contact for me.

Only thing is I think the contacts list is awful to use without the stylus, is there a way to increase the size of each contact so you could use your thumb?

Infact, just answered that myself, you can change the whole system font size that does make it easier to use contacts, but everything else on the device is huge too!

I suppose the only other thing is to edit in the punctuation myself when using the keyboard (I always use the keyboard for texts) Bit of a pain but I don't send mutilple texts that often (no mates smile.gif )

When sending texts to multiple contacts on my MDA3 It often only goes to the first contact I select and I then get a not sent message for each of the other contacts

Is this something to do with the way the contacts are automatically separated, should there be a space between contacts or any punctuation ; , ?

Has anyone else had this problem or am I just making an obvious error? The way I select the contacts is by typing the first three letters of the name using the keyboard and then selecting the contact with the directional pad.

I meant Photo contacts caller ID apps, is there any software that displays a full screen image when someone calls instead of just the pop up small photo that I have on my MDA3 photo contacts?

Is the MDA 3 update available officially for download yet, I haven't bothered trying to ring them back yet?

Seem a bit strange that it's not freely available!

What's the best caller ID program available for the PPC?

I currently have the unbranded "Caller ID for pocket PC v1.17" that came on the MDA 3 as standard, but I'd prefer a full screen option, similar to Smartface for smartphones, that was a great app on my SPV and MPx200!

Any suggestions?

cheers

This happens to me too with my MDAIII!

I don't have a bluetooth headset (just use BT for activesyncing with my laptop)

People call me I can't hear them, so i hang up and try to call back, but still no sound! My mates all joke that my phone's crap (spent all that time showing off with it and then they can't call me on it!!)

As with everyone elses here, Only a soft reset works!

I did update my BT to the 3500 build, but I'm sure I had this problem before that.

I'm starting to get this problem with my MDAIII on T-Mobile.

Just tested it now, I've got only one bar of signal (crap signal at work) but surely I should still receive a call?

Dialled twice from the land line and it went straight to voicemail, third time I tried it rang!

anyone else getting this?

I only got one battery too!! Got mine from Onestop aswell.

If this is correct, do you think I could say to T-mobile that I didn't get a spare battery, or would they know I didn't get the handset directly from them?? No harm in trying I suppose?

Anyone else get 2 batteries with their MDAIII??

Concerning OneStopPhoneShop, the only issue I have ever had with them is when it comes to claiming for any free gifts that ship with the phone

I'm also a bit confused with Onestop. Just got my MDAIII and got connected no problem, great phone / great network coverage.

I'm supposed to be on half price line rental for six months as a free gift, but on the "My T-mobile" website it says I'm on full price line rental.

E-mailed Onestop to confirm whether I need to send off those vouchers they sent with the phone, no reply yet, . . . might have to give them a call.

Martin.
