I have finally lost patience with my i300. It crashed for a 3rd time in a week, losing me a couple of very important numbers I aquired on Saturday night. I have asked for an alternative handset from the place I bought mine as I dont believe this is fit for the purpose it was made. Such a shame because potentially this is a great handset, but Samsung refuse to ackowledge there is a problem and I simply cannot live resetting the phone 2 or 3 times a week for the next year. I also think the battery life is shameful, I dont get more than 12 hours out of the slim one.

Hopefully I will be using a different make of phone shortly and I can wipe my hands of this complete sham.

Excellent! I'll give it a go. I was pretty handy on symbian (I used to watch films etc on my 6630) but I dont really have any idea about this smartphone stuff. Thankyou!

No probs! I'm also led to believe all the settings should be pre installed.. This might be the case, as my wap and IE and Messenger have been working fine for the last couple of days, then spent about 6 hours today telling me to check my settings as they were incorrect. I have just tried to connect now and everything is working fine again.. Very strange.. its not like I work down a mine.

I have yet to use the bigger battery.. sounds like I have more fun in store!

I find the software regularly freezes for 2 or 3 seconds, even when I'm just browsing through menus.

I also got an incredibly strange thing happen to me yesterday.

I had been listening to some mp3's earlier, then went to make a call. The call seemed to play over the loudspeaker, but the recepiant couldnt hear me. After hanging up the phone was buzzing from the loudspeaker and it wouldnt play any sound files whatsoever.

The person I had run rang me back, and after answering the call, again I could hear them through the loudspeaker but they couldnt hear me.

Again I hung up and the phone refused to play any sounds but the loudspeaker was still buzzing. I switched off and on again and its been fine since.

Strange!

QUOTE(Pondrew @ Mar 7 2006, 11:53)
Well, the fault is identical to a fault experienced on the Voq Professional Phone (which also runs Windows Mobile 2003 SE) and that doesn't have a hard drive so I'd be inclined to think that while it could be related to the remaining space on the device that it isn't specifically a harddrive fault...

Forgive me for being a newbie to this! I've never dealt with Windows Mobile before, I've been Nokia all my life so cant really comment, all I know is that it has happened twice on two different handsets, and both times after totally filling the HDD.

Whilst this error was on screen it would also intermittently come up with an error saying sms space was full. I presume this was because it was attempting to receive a text. Also if I held down the voice command button I found it said RELEASING RESOURCES but then nothing else happened.

Thanks for that, I thought I was alone - or at least that's how O2 have made me feel...

I was in the exact same situation until a few days ago. The 'tech' dept at Samsung themselves never even mentioned a hard reset to me. My replacement handset did the exact same within 36 hours. I have held back with filling the HDD more that 5/6 full and it seems ok, but that kind of defeats the point.. I would love for there to be some sort of software upgrade that fixes this issue.

Hi all

Does anyone now how to change the sms message LED colour.

Note:I also noticed that when I started the windows mobile 5.0 for PPC it got the details for the I300 and gave me the option to continue. However I didnt continue because I didnt now if it would srew my device up. Just though I would post this info, though i might be usefull somehow.

LED is start/settings/phone/more/service LED

or

START/8-1-0-2

No idea about for sms messages, I've not really noticed.

I had the same problem with my first handset. I admit I didnt fully read the manual on the cd, so rang Samsung for advice. They were clueless (the operator actually said at one point OK, IM GOING TO NEED YOU TO PRESS UNLOCK, THEN THE HASH KEY).

Eventually they said I had to take it to a Carphone Warehouse quite a way from were I live, as they were the local Samsung repair centre

I took it in the next day and was told bluntly they couldnt do anything with it and to return it to were I bought it.

I sent it back to mobileshop.com (Who I must add are fantastic) who sent a replacement handset the next day.

Once again I ripped and added about 55 cds to the handset which promptly did the exact same thing.

I finally discovered hard reset (which wiped every single one of my 100+ contacts) and once back running I deleted some albums from the HDD. It seems to be working ok so far since I lightened the load on it. I have had problems with speakerphone and playing sound files, but thats a different story..! I can only suggest not overburdening the HDD. I'm assuming this is the cause of everyone elses handset locking up?

I got my settings from o2. I rang them and asked which to download from their site, as they didnt list the i300

The lady I was talking to assured me I had the wrong model number as there was no i300 either in current or coming soon models on her screen.

After I pointed out they were selling the handset on the site, she put me on to a tech guy who talked me through the settings manually. Bit of a pain but its working fine now.
