not really. im using a sim free one from clove, tomtom worked with the following: start>settings>system>gps > first tab: program port: com 8 second tab: hardware port: com 9 tomtom: gps settings: other nmea gps receiver, 4800, com 8. that actually worked. make sure u are outside, the gps in samsung takes ages to find something. ive moved on to garmin xt as i got bored with tomtom now (using for the past 2-3 years).... |

I got the greek version of the phone. It has a builtin hard reset function which is activated as follows: 1. Power off the phone 2. Hold down the begin call and end call buttons (green & red) 3. Press and hold the power button 4. Once the phone's status LED turns red, RELEASE the power button but KEEP the other 2 pushed 5. You will get a prompt to press the space key to format, or any other key to continue I took the above from a post on XDA Devs, and it WORKS on a greek-localized Samsung i780. It is possible that other versions use different bootloaders, which do not have support for this combo yup yup yup.just got my sim free i780 tonight. i can confirm if u do the above, they work, as in the 1. press space and it will format. 2. any other key to continue. now waiting for my micro sd to come in to know if gps works properly.wohoo. need to get used to the small screen. been using rectangular htc screens to now... |

Great thanks for replying! I'll check out Fonezone once my phone arrives (looks like it's going to be Friday) - I'll see if I can get the GPPS working - will update here. Maybe I'll need to app unlock the phone too - I'll see. Munzab - the phone is too new to get a free workaround for the sim unlock. The only other way I can think of at the moment is to flash the Samsung original ROM to the phone -I did this with my HTC Touch (flashed with cooked ROM - which was locked to T-Mobile. However I don't really want to do this yet as I want to play around with the phone first. thanks. any particular sites recommended over others?in terms of speed of getting codes?i dont think at this stage money is an object. want to use it.... |

right. upgraded to: Rom Version: 2.17.7.2 WWE Rom Date: 2/10/06 Radio Version: 02.07.10 Protocol Version: 413.1.03 ExtRom Version: 2.17.7.102 What ive noticed so far: 1 much much quicker interface, with no lag when opening keyboard 2 battery in taskbar at top, but in programs, only the time appears, so thats really really good (set it in start>settings>system>clocks/alarms>more to show clock all the time) 3 hasnt gone into flight mode for no reason, and i did leave it whole night 4 alarm clock works, brings the device out of standby and vibrates and rings like crazy ( by standby i mean the phone part is working but screen is off) Cheers, i highly recommend this version! |

i didnt realise there was this thread for help and advice and posted this in the htc wizard section, hopefully anyone could help me quickly enough? Thanks hi there, i have a question: my qtek 9100 drops the carrier very often. it turns on flight mode on its own... ive noticed this twice now after the phone is left on its own for about 4-5 hours... i dont realise that has happened until i look at the phone and notice the signal LED isnt flashing anymore. then i have to press the icon, turn off flight mode and input my pin again... is this normal?anybody heard of that? i am running the rom i got when i got the phone which i think is pretty old... Rom Version: 1.1.7.5 Rom Date: 9/22/05 Radio Version: 01.01.10 Protocol Version: 4.0.13.16 ExtRom Version: 1.1.6.105 should i upgrade?ive downloaded the 186504-ruu_9100_2170702_21707102_20710_qtek_wwe_ship .exe file from xda-developers... i was hoping to wait to get a mini sd card first before saving the rom, is it worth the wait? Thanks for answering and helping![I] |

anybody please any ideas for that?id really really appreciate a note plugin like that... in fact, even just a little bar in the homescreen with the note title that u can click on to open that note... Thanks for helping! Edit: looking around i found the oxios program. not too bad at all, however, is there a way to use the oxios plugin with the imbedded wm5 task manager, barring that, any other note program that is free? at www.oxios.com - oxios to do list and oxios today plugin because even if u uninstall the todolist, the plugin still doesnt show a note i have in the imbedded task program, even if i try to select it.. the homescreen just shows: "Oxios Today Plugin installed ! " <----that's it Thanks! |

Cheers for helping... (i searched and searched and havent come up with anything)... |
