Sorry All, but iam superconfused with all tha unlocking thats needs to be done to get full value out of a phone like the BJII. So may i humbly ask for some guidance and clarification about unlocking types:

1. "Carrier" Unlock
First of all the phone needs to be unlocked to work with any SIM ? I read something about a code you get for free from ATT for that ?

2. SIM Unlock
Same as 1. ??? If yes, which procedure is this ? Reliable or good chances to brick the pone?

3. App Unlock
Same unlocking we did since the beginning of WM time -setting some Reg keys to allow installation of all available apps. However, do we have a Registry Editor for the Samsung that does it?

4. GPS Unlock
Also a Registry patch that lets the GPS be usable...

Hope thats it. Can all the above be done by somebody without a nobel prize + 50 years of mobile device experience ? I am planning to buy a BJII in the US and use it with a german T-Mobile SIM in Germany. Any reason to not do that? Can the phone be the standard ATT thing like from Newegg.com or do it needs to be especially unlocked, cause it cannot be done @home?

Thanks for any help...

great. why are there no new WM clamshells coming?

Clamshells are great or at least a SMALL WM smartphone which fits in the pocket. S710 was kinda ok in size but now the S730 is too fat and heavy for me. I even tried the Samsung i620 but thats a brick too. I like the BJII, but also not really pocket compatible... As small as Notebooks become these days I even don't need a keybord or such.

I don't understand why there is no market for a real small WM phone ??

There is already a beta build of wm6 for the dash around the net. xda-developers.com has a chat about it in their excalibur forum.

Will the Update be available for the MDA Mail too ?

Sorry for bump, but this problem is very annoying:

Every time I boot the phone AND every time I connect the phone via Activesync, the phone (tries) to start apps. The problem is that these are old entries somewhere, I get multiple error messages that the phone cannot find these apps.

The entries are NOT in the \Startup folder and Smartione cannot find these entries (path) anywhere in the registry. The apps like Newsbreak are related to an active connection so my feeling is that there is a special entry/trigger/path stored somewhere which is related to a 'connect event'.

Any ideas ?
:??:

Hi Guys, i have been away for a while and seem to have lost lots of really good programs that i used for my C500.

I had a program that allowed me to change the first 10 programs in my start menu.

if anyone can let me know the name of the program or anything similar i would be most greatful.

If anyone can also post me to a topic where people list some of the best applications as i am eager to show my new phone off.

Thank you in advance and hopefully i will stay now smile.gif

I have some old (uninstalled) apps coming up when an activesync session starts. Can anyone tell me where that startup list is stored ?

Thanks!

OK, that seems a good plan in principle but what of those apps that will sit in the background using plenty of CPU, such as media player? It seems odd that those apps don't have a CLOSE option, no?

OS kills the least used background process if memory is needed. Get busy processes back to top is surely tricky (if they still live) ...

V3 works great - but I still don't know the righ ICONSIZE setting.

The clock is still distorted and the Icons in the bubble look a bit 'special'. Any setting i need to add on the C550?

(sorry if i missed something here...)

Hi all,

i recently got a car kit for SDA and still have problems, e.g. it seems that the Car-Profile is not very usable. When I dock (real car kit with wiring, power, radio connect etc, no bluetooth) the phone in the car, it

- still stays in keylock mode (if locked before docking - al other phones i had automatically unlock while in fixed car mode)
- still blanks screen after standard time out
- if phone was in quiet mode before docking, I get no ringtone although profile changes to "car"

--> It seems as there cannot be much configured to avoid the above, especially the screen time out in profile options. Any ideas how to change/fix any of the above behaviours ?

Thx!

Since some time I am proud owner of a car kit for my SDA. Everything works great, but now i cannot get my phone back out of car mode. It stays in car profile or changes to headset. If i try to go to normal or any other profile - it doesn't work.

Anyone seen this ?

Cheers + Thx !

No matter what you do, the guys at work won't allow you to use your phone, as it is a camera phone. Same applies to any location the camera phones are banned from.

Now... think for yourself, if you owned the place, would you trust just anyone who says their phone camera has been disabled? Would you just believe that the lens has been scratched with sandpaper and it's not only a sticker? Maybe you would believe one person, but it's too complicated and too risky to check every phone that comes in. And... the security guys at the entrance are not forensic detectives to be able to tell if it's a clever sticker or the camera is really not usable.

Still, is there any soution to remap that key on the right side ?

My problem is not that camera is not allowed, it's more that i accidentially press that key all time

I tried some of the Tweak prg's surely also SDA Tweak, but hevent found a solution yet - that doesn't say that its somewhere in the Settings and i am too stupid to find it...

Any ideas ?

Thx

Hi all,

this might be a dumb question, but is the Motorola cable used to sync and load the phone a normal USB cable ?
F.e. my Canon IXUS has the "same" cable, dunno if i can use that :?:

Cheers,

With MS Mobile Information Server you can sync your EMail, Calendar + Contacts with Exchange also via Standard Internet (or through GPRS Conn to Internet)
This is included in the MS Exchange Server 2003 product.

Overall pretty good functionality our company uses this, i can sync my phone via GPRS on the go or Sync via pass through internet connection when cradled.

My StoragewindowsAppMgr Folder gets filled up, although i uninstall correctly stuff stays there
The problem seems to be that the remaining files *.tmp are marked "system" - there fore cannot be deleted. I tried from PC or locally with Resco Explorer 2003

Questions:
1. Is there a reg entry to move this directory to SD Card ?
2. How can i unmark the "system" flag of a file ?
3. Any "brute force" delete available ?

Thx in advance + Greetings
