The MDA Compact is crazy!!! - This is the craziest SmartPhone!
If they only had added the cradle, Wifi, and changeable OS language (without burning the ROM) then it would be already on my desk. - For now the SDA Musik will do. Only until sommer, then it should be out in the UK and I can get it for cheap under contract.
Hopefully until then the WIFI Cards are smaller too. Just cant stand that it sticks out two centimeters. Ruins the whole form factor of the phone. Hopeful they can reduce it to a minimal bump. - I SAY just add it on to the mini SD cards and make it for the big SD slot. the technology is certainly here already, right?!

I just saw the news on coolsmartphone.com and though I get some more information on these phones.

After being on the phone with their rep I got this information:
The phones are in existence and in working condition. They are expecting these phones to come to the market on Spring 2005. They are waiting for providers to pick up this project and already selected which ones they are going to be (he wouldn't say which providers though). No infos on the price either; he said it is up to the provider. TV is going to run over TV airwaves, thus the same as a normal Antenna TV. Besides that he confirmed that the rest of in the information is accurate.
About the Microsoft PPC PE 2004 - The rep said that the hardware is able run on the different MS Operations Systems, depending on the provider it can be changed.
In addition I asked him about processor speed. - He said he could give me specifics about the other three yet, because the info is not released; however he did give me some information about the one mobile (with the fish!). He said it is running at 633mhz however its power Consumption is like a 400 mhz. - I dont know, but hey doesn't that sound good ,-))) - In addition he said the three other phone are faster, but couldn't go into details. - He says they are using / testing Intel xscale and Samsung processors.

well the whole reason I asked was that I am reading through the forum post on my lunch break and in case you didn't know every company/country draws the line differently with pornography / erotic pics. - Anyway, it is just embarrassing to me when coworkers walk by while your irritating pics are flashing on my screen. and to top that you seem to post in every thread I open up. (Sometimes I think you live here ,-) - little joke - I guess I just notice because the flashing pics are annoying). - Besides I already had some wired faces looking at me; especially from the ladies in my office. They don’t seem to appreciate it very much, in large part because they see the flashing pics faster then the text I am reading!

So I thought I might ask if you would be so kind and change it to something more appropriate. Given that this forum is not focused on pornography or erotic, but on a technical note, right? - if you like erotic pics so much that you cant live without then maybe change it to something more tasteful like good looking models or something similar. To be honest I am a little suprised that AT&T took in a 3rd Party to distribute the phone. - I really thought that they would put their AT&T logo on it and sell it for themselfs.

Anyway, cool that it came out so fast. - It was kinda sneaky. Not much talk and all of a sudden. Hey it is on sale. Not like the C500 with Orange and the SDA with T-Mobile, which was lots of talk and took forever to come out. AT&T did no talking and just get that little devil out there. - I like that better ,-)))

Anyway, Great for Smartphones and great for the end consumer!!! -> More will follow. <- Then everybody will haves it, like back in the day with the Nokia phones. - I think I gotta watch out for Apple now, so I will be one of the first one that has the IPhone.

I am on T-Mobile with my SPV (GSM 900, 1800, 1900) located in New York. Last weekend I went to San Francisco, and for some wired reason I was roaming on ATT and Verizon. I saw T-Mobile stores in San Francisco, however searching for the network only came up with ATT and Verizon (or was it Cingular). - Didn't check my bill yet if I got charged for roaming.

Anyway to make it short. ATT and Cingular merged their netowrks which gives them GSM 800 (850) and 1900. - T-Mobile is only running on GSM 1900.

If you have ATT (including cingular) then Quad band is of course a lot better because in some areas (metro cities) you will have the overlapping 800 and 1900 networks = better coverage. - However if you are with T-Mobile than it doesn't matter because T-Mobile does not support 800 GSM anyway, thus it only responds to GSM 1900.

Hope that didn't confuse more than it shoud have made sense. ;-)

I live with a APPLE addict, thus I thought I install the Mac OS X Home Screen and play a joke on her! - She has the IPOD, IBOOK, and IMAC. hehe - So, I came home yesterday and told her I got a new cell phone. - The new IPHONE. - LOL - She was flipping out!!!! LOL - she saw the phone and thought it was a REAL APPLE IPHONE. - immediately she wanted to know where I got it, how much it was and how I got my hands on it because she didn't see it in the news!!! - let me tell you, I got her good!!! SOOOO GOOD!!!!!

Anyway, I like the screen so much that I want to keep it. (besides it is nice to see her jealous eyes wondering over my phone when it lays on the table ,-) ... so here to my questions:

1. I would like to keep all the desktop icons (HDD/Service and Clock/Date) when I switch into the lower menu line. - as of right now these disappear with the top line symbols (antenna, gprs, batter, line etc symbols) when I go the the button menu icons. --- Is that normal? Can it be changed, so that they stay? If Yes, how do I need to edit XML code?

2. When I scroll through the lower menu line and hit the last symbols (starting with Camera), it adds a orange ball with arrow in the upper left corner. --- What is that? Can I take it out? If Yes, how do I need to edit XML code?

3. When going selecting the first symbol of the lower menu line I can select other symbols (the standard MS symbols). --- Is that normal? Should this 'square smile' icon been for something else? If I don’t want it is it possible to take it out? If Yes, how do I need to edit XML code?

4. I saw that somebody posted a very cool SMS/Email Counter and I think it rocks. --- Does somebody have the XML code for that?

5. Somebody added a few different icons in the lower menu line and linked them to programs. --- Is it possible to post the post pics AND xml code for those pics and commands? (at least for the common ones: Tasks, PocketTV, etc)


I love this screen, I cant wait to customize it to all my needs.

I really appreciate your advice and answers.

sorry got the fact wrong with the sim unlock lock. I guess my SPV came unlocked for free!!! - because I only had to unlock it for apps (using it with t-mobile at the moment)
