What's the usual practice in this sort of event? Is my seller (buymobilephones (uk)) obliged to send me a replacement and then I return the faulty one? Or do I return the faulty one and wait till they get their act together for repair or replacement. So far they have suggested I contact HTC. I said this was unacceptable as my contract/purchase was with them?

I'd be grateful for any suggestions on this - and who is responsible for postage?

Gordon

Just like to advise people that www.buymobilephone.net only response to numerous emails and recorded delivery letter is to tell me to contact HTC. HTC of course say its none of their business as its an Orange phone.

I am now having to take legal action against www.buymobilephone.net - their customer service is abysmal - be warned

It's a hardware fault - HTC are replacing the gasket around the LCD. It seems to happen when the device gets warm.

Orange should get it replaced/fixed under warranty.

Richard

Thanks for the heads up, appreciated and have contacted my seller.

How interesting. After about a month of flawless service, mine has developed this very same fault this week. I develop some of my own apps using compact dotnet, but can't imagine how they can affect the registry key found at HKLM\Hardware\DeviceMap\Touch and CalibrationData.

I'm looking at what is happening here. Perhaps I'll write a little app to rewrite my usual settings, or get in touch with Orange.

Yes, I have used mine happily with Orange and Vodafone (UK).  For fail safe setup you can download the CAB file from www.clubimate.com.  All you need to do then is copy to the phone and run the file.  I would attach the file for you but I don't know what country/operator you use.  (Club membership is free if you have purchased a new device from them.) laugh.gif

Cheryl, you might just be "the one".

the settings (orange) from imate don't work on my sp5

I'll stick my current setting here and if you could check yours against these perhaps I could get somewhere...

As a follow up to a previous post,

Does anyone actually have GPRS working on an imate SP5 for any operator? (or even mobile 5?)

You could try these settings for 'GPRS Internet' on Orange PAYG...

These are from my O2 XDA Mini S on Orange PAYG...

Thanks for replying ...

Uhmm interesting, however...

On the sp5 there is no Connections->Advanced->Select Networks (windows mobile 5) ?

On connections I can right click and get Advanced.

This brings up:

Internet Connection
Orange Internet
Work Connection
Automatic
WAP Connection
Orange WAP
Secure WAP Connection
Orange MMS

There is a Connections|Proxy
and on this I have

Orange Proxy
Connects from:
The Internet

Connects to:
WAP Network

Proxy (name:port):
192.168.71.35:9201

Type:
WAP

User name:

Password:

Which is similar I think.

I have spent about 3/4 hour with orange and we couldn't get anywhere

What bothers me is the proxy.

I don't understand how the link from explorer to gprs to proxy to web site works.

I suppose ie selects Orange Internet? This selects what? proxy?

It's all very wierd.

There is very little on how the Connection Manager process works. Without this knowledge I'm just trying everything in hope.

mms works so I think the gprs or wap is working - the phone can send and get data and it puts the little G above the strength meter anyway so gprs?

So anyone got a working sp5 on payg?

Just for anyone I've put my current settings here:

Hi, new to this forum, but couldn't find this info

I have an imate sp5 on an orange payasyougo sim

I have downloaded the official orange payg connections cab from clubimate, but the gprs settings don't seem to work. mms is okay

I have the large G at the top and get the small G above the strength meter, but then I get a Connection Failed, Check that you have network coverage. My strength meter is on full. I have had gprs working on another phone previously (or was it just wap?)

Orange tell me that I am set up for gprs, but who knows...

Anyone have orange payg gprs working on this or any smartphone ms mobile 5 edition

And/Or

Can anyone point to where I can find info on how the explorer - gprs - wap -proxy system works so I can try and trace through what is happening.

btw the sp5 works fine with wifi.

Regards
