It is located in the \Windows directory on the phone, but by default it is a hidden file. Thus, the reason you need to load Resco Explorer and turn on View Hidden files. Once you do this, you'll be able to find the gpstest.exe file in the Windows directory. There is also another program called GPSTest, which works very well and is free. The link for it is in the above post. Ooops, hehe. You were the one that posted the link!! Sorry. |

You have to copy the google.xml file and the homescreen you want to use to your computer. Actually, here's the code from the Google xml. Just copy and paste it into the home screen you want to use. (Important: Make a backup of your home screen you'll be copying to!!). Then copy it back to the phone and launch. I edited mine and it works great. Here's the code: <plugin clsid="{A5CE7B87-DC8C-474d-855A-270DEB26515A}" name="Google Search" height="15" autoheight="true"><background><format bgcolor="COLOR_HOMEHIGHLIGHT" state="selected"/></background></plugin><plugin clsid="{25997777-A9C7-4a44-AEA6-BE5EB0D97B81}" name="voip" height="25"> <background> <format state="selected" bgcolor="COLOR_HOMEHIGHLIGHT"/> </background> <label> <text singleline="true"><voip/></text> </label> </plugin> The xml files are in the Application\Home directory. Copy it for instance after your Calendar entries. Look for Calendar then the end of the plugin labeled like </plugin>. Put your cursor to the right of the > then hit Enter. The paste the above and save. If you know how to do all of this sorry, just thought it would be easier to explain. |

You don't. That's why you install Resco. Once you say show all files, the program will continue to work after the trial period. But, you won't be able to change the rights back or do much of anything else but view and launch the files. As I said, perhaps there's a hack to allow the built in File Explorer the capability to show hidden files, but I haven't looked into it as Resco works just fine. |

Download and install Resco Explorer. You get a free trial and you'll be able to show all files, hidden, system whatever. Get it here: Resco Explorer 2007 for Smartphone As far as I know, the built-in File explorer doesn't have the option to view hidden files, unless there's a reg hack of some sort. |

I'll take a look in the Registry tomorrow for question #1 but for #2 you should be able to go into Good Preferences, select Phone, then choose "Use System Dialer". Now when entering in numbers it won't go to your Company list. I edit my Home screen XMLs all the time to incorporate on the Good mail icon and my calendar. What exactly are you looking for and I'll give it a shot. |

Wow, not sure what to think on this. I applied the BBII patch yesterday and was able to quickly get Google Maps up and running. Now upon downloading and installing this new file, I can't connect to anything. I've loaded GPS Test and while it sees sats, it never locks onto them. Same thing now when launching Google Maps. Everything worked fine after the original cab hack, but for the GPSID hack, it's not working, for anything. |

I actually change mine a different way. \HKCU\ControlPanel\Power. In there I create a new DWORD called Display and enter in 20 for 20 seconds timeout. My screen dims at 15 seconds and then turns off at 20. The only thing is if you mistakenly go into Power Management and change and save any settings, it reverts back to whatever is in the menu. |

Not sure how or when it happened, but there are two areas on my d-pad that the silver has come off. I have one of the S710's with the silver keys not black. Has anyone tried to touch up their d-pad or keys with silver paint? If so, I'd like to know what paint you used. Thx. |

Nice job! Looks great on my Vox. I tweaked the Custom xml to include my Goodlink email and calendar instead of the Outlook. Also added Fizz Traveller instead of weather. Now I'm in business!! |

Brand new phone on the way... (not a repaired one for the records... I had (all defective or malfunctioned within 6 months) - 5 * c600 (two failed comletely 1 with defective keyboard and 2 with joystick problems) 3 * C500 with dust and 2 * c500 with defective joysticks so you see it must be me.. I love the phones but the reliability is shocking.. I've not had a single one last 12 months yet!! Well that sucks and I feel for you. No way you should have had that many devices. Never had that issue. |

so much for reliable phones.... I had all sorts of problems with my c600's and now the vibrate has stopped working on my 5 day old E650.. when will they make a reliable phone.... No offense, but I don't think that's a fair assessment. I own several HTC devices and don't have a problem with vibrate. I also own many other S60, Moto, Nokia, etc. devices and have no major issues with them either. I think you have a defective device. It happens. Go back to Orange and exchange it and then see how things go. |

I'm using CoPilot 6 right now. It loads and works fine, although today I found some mapping issues but I don't think it has to do with my Vox. Smart2Go is great on my MTeoR and S60 devices. Working with it briefly last Friday was terrible. Very slow to update (granted, I didn't download the maps ahead of time using maploader so that may help), couldn't really be used. Someone mentioned Route 66. I'm a fan of this app. I've used it on S60 and Pocket PC platforms and it just works great. I think I'll have to buy the smartphone version to complete my package. |

Alright, sorry for the delay. Here's the screen shot: ![]() I'm running Facade so I've moved my Provider/Date to the bottom. As you can see, it says "Get More..." instead of "T-Mobile". Nothing I've been able to do will change it. I've gone in and changed Network to Manual. Upon doing so it shows available Networks as T-Mobile and Cingular. Selecting T-Mobile then results in the network name going back to Get More. Don't care really, but it is bugging me that I can't figure out how to change it......!!! |

The title says it all. I'm on T-Mobile US and that is what's displayed on my phone. This is a first to say the least. Very strange and can't figure this one out. It should be displaying T-Mobile but where the hell is Get More coming from? Anyone else have this or can explain? |

Got mine today. Very nice device. So far all my apps are working, Fizz Traveler, Fizz Bill, Facade, Smart2go, but one of the most important isn't. Good email won't load. The OTA program will download and install but once it starts talking to the Good server, it gives me a "Your Device isn't compatible, please contact your administrator". Pity. Looks like I'll have to use Direct Push for now. |

There is a new ROM available over at XDA Dev. Here's the link to the thread and you can find the new ROM on their FTP site: HTC MTeoR ROM What's the deal?! No interest in this phone any longer? I've read on many boards the issues with this device, but it is still improving. This latest version boots as a Test ROM. No matter. It's quite stable and improves the battery life on GSM, at least for me. Quite pleased thus far. I am still a little peaved that it doesn't display the "E" for EDGE but I'll live with it. The ROM is quite stable. Call quality if great and loud. It's now almost Midnight and I still have 2 bars of battery. Quite an improvment from the previous version. I'm running Good email for work and direct PUSH for my personal email. My GPRS is always connected. Definitely think it's worth the upgrade. |

Just got my MTeoR this week and I'm on T-Mobile U.S. I've had no problems sending/receiving SMS messages. Sorry this doesn't help you but thought I'd confirm SMS is working on T-Mobile. What ROM are you on? I upgraded mine from 1.13 to 1.30 prior to testing. |

XML files in \windows folder determine the linking of hardware buttons. Good luck I've gone through all the files in the \Windows directory (meaning I opened each *.xml as well) and I don't see anyway to change the IE/Mail button to something else. I also went through the registry last night and while I came close to finding a way it wasn't it. Has anyone one discovered the hack to change these two buttons? |
