When ActiveSync gives you the error, click on the "Fix the Problem" in the Activesync window. It should give you an error code. What is that code?

I have had my SDA for 1 week and have identified a major flaw. Besides the long (5-7 minute) time required to get a signal after dropping the signal. My SDA in specific locations will continuously search for a signal. The time period is between 1 - 10 hours to lock onto a signal. Both Cingular and T-mobile phone of different models work in these locations. The T-mobile coverage map identifies these areas as strong signal. I have soft reset, hard reset and replaced my SIM card. The phone works in other locations just fine. Actually, I love the phone other than this problem. It is well documented in this thread at HoFo
http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php...11&page=1&pp=15

I am reaching out to Modaco for a solution. From experience, Modaco users tend to be very technical and creative. I hope that I can use the SDA in the future. I don't want to have to switch to SE.

Problem Areas Identified by me
San Jose, CA
San Francisco, CA
Santa Clara, CA
Omaha, NE
Fremont, NE

Working Areas Tested by me
Denver, CO
San Jose, CA (home zip code)

You definitely get around a lot in the US. I have the same problem as you (I live in Seattle, WA), although to correct the problem a little quicker, I go into flight mode them back out, and it usually fixes it. Granted not quite the fix, but a quicker one than turning everything off, and such. I hope someone has a better solution.

On the side, did you only go to Omaha, NE, or do you know if T-Mo reaches down to Lincoln, NE. I'm going there for the weekend and wondering if I'll be able to do work there.

Good luck

I tried mapopolis, which is OK and I already have pocket streets which is pretty slow when it comes to locating business or locations and spotty.
I was wondering if there is any other one I can try? Tomtom does not have SP version for US, I didn't see any on their website.

The thing you might want to try is Google Maps. It runs off of Java script and works great for me. www.google.com/gmm

What made you decide to use those GPRS/Proxy settings? And why two GPRS?

Not quite sure exactly where I pulled them from, but they work for me.

I'm having the same problem. However, your suggestion doesn't correct it.

Okay, sorry, keep your MMSC settings the way they are. Here's my other settings.

Access Point: internet2.voicestream.com
User name: (blank)
Password: (blank)
Primary DNS: 255.255.255.0
Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0
IP Address" (blank)

Name: T-Mobile WAP

User name: (blank)
Password: (blank)
Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0
Seconday DNS: 0.0.0.0

Connects from: WAP Network
Connects to: The Internet
Proxy :216.155.165.50:8080

Now under Settings->Connects->Menu->Advanced

Those are all of my settings, including the above MMSC settings. Let me know if that works, because for me it does.

Ok, so i have my phone set up using these settings..
GPRS Connections
Description: T-Zones GPRS

Access point: wap.voicestream.com
User name:
Password:
Primary DNS: 216.155.165.50
Secondary DNS:
IP address:

Proxy Connections
Description: T-Zones Proxy
Connects from: The Internet
Connects to: WAP Network
Proxy (name:port): 216.155.165.50:8080
Type: HTTP
User name:
Password:

Now, i jsut flashed it to iMate, and works fine.. but i need MMS working.

Most of the settings i have found don'e work.. is there a conflict using the 5 dollar work around and MMS?

if so any one of you SDA Brothers want to help me out with the tmobile settings?

I assume you are on T-Mobile US.

Go to your MMS folders and click on MMS Options.
Click Menu and go to MMSC Settings.
If you don't already have a setting, add one. Name it something like "T-Mobile MMS"
Under MMSC URL: 216.155.174/servlets/mms
WAP Gateway:215.155.165.50
Port:8080
Connect Via:WAP Network
Max Sending Size:Doesn't matter, but I have mine set to 1000K (after registry tweak)
WAP Version:WAP 2.0

I hope this helps, but these are the settings I have AFTER the update.

you'll have to go into the settings and manually setup the MMS and GPRS stuff.  I had to do that when I flashed to the I-Mate ROM.  T-Mobile has the correct settings on their website.

Unfortunately, I did go to T-Mo's website, input the settings they provided, and still nothing. Anyone else?

For some reason, after I updated my SDA, I can't receive anymore MMS messages. It goes into the inbox, but yet it won't connect and download it.

Does anyone else have this problem with the SP5 update on the T-Mobile US SDA?

This LONG_POUND.lnk file work for you??

Nope, no good. It's still registering the pound key in the dialer, rather than registering as a long pound press.

i'm experiencing the same problem after i was able to flash to the new sp5m rom.

is there a website that list useful applications, shortcuts, or what ever for the sda?

thanks.

Until someone finds a solution, I think I have a workaround. Create a shortcut link to the executable mute.exe in the Windows DIR, and place in the Start Menu folder. Then set a speed dial number to it. Shamefully, you will still have to exit out of the Dialer. Anyone else?
