QUOTE You will be charged one way or another for using GPRS - even if there are no emails to download, or you only download headers. Just checked out 1 or 2 sites on the net and it seems not so. You are only charged for what you actually transfer and not charged for just being connected. On the o2 website it discribes how to setup the Blackberry exactly the same way I set up my SP5. It even says to set it to check for emails every 15 mins. By just downloading the headers you are reducing the information sent over GPRS in turn reducing the overall cost. I just want it to tell me there is mail there. |

I have setup my Imate SP5 to check for emails every 15mins. The account I have this setup on is only used on my mobile phone so it would not get much mail. When it dose receive an email it only downloads the headers. At this point I will turn on the WIFI and download the entire mail that way. I am on the o2 Ireland network. Is there a charge for checking your mail or is it free until you actually download something like the headers or the email itself. When I am charging the phone at the computer the check is carried out using the broadband connection on the computer. |

here in Ireland I've only ever seen 4 smartphones/ ppc phones and they've all been mine lol we're usually about 5 years behind the UK and none of our operators really stock them (yet!) gR I'm in ireland and I have the Imate SP5. It has to be the best phone I have ever had. I haven’t seen anyone else with them. A funny story I had problems getting my MMS working on my SP5 so I went to Car Phone Whore House (Yea you heard me) “Excuse me can you help…. I am trying to get MMS working on this phone” as I hand him the phone. “WOW Mary look at this. I have heard about them but just never seen one” It was at this point I asked for the phone back and left the shop. To date I still cant get MMS to work reliably on the o2 network. Sometimes I can send MMS but never receive them. As of writing this I have noticed Vodafone Ireland are now supplying the SP5 (Under there own name) to new bill customers. O2 will be supplying it in the coming year as the o2 IQ. |

Phone: Imate SP5 Op SYS: Windows Mobile 2005 Can someone please help!!! I recently installed then deleted the Onix Task Manager on my phone and now I am having a real problem. I can’t sent MMS messages as I keep getting the message “Your message is larger then the sending limit you specified under “MMSC Settings” I get this message even if the MMS message is only 2k. I have Max. Sending Size: 100K I have tried it with 250K and still get the same message. I also noticed that there are now two extra settings under Start>Messaging>5 MMS>MENU> 8 OPTIONS > 4 ACCOUNT OPTIONS > 3 MMS >MENU > 1 MMSC SETTINGS I did have: GPRS MMS I now have Default Default GPRS MMS If I delete the two “default” settings and turn my phone off and back on again they reaper. The setting inside the “default” are both the same. Name: default MMSC URL: http://vxpix.com/servlets/mms WAP: gateway: 63.73.9.22 Port: 9201 Alan |

Finaly found the settins to get the Imate SP5 working on the o2 Ireland Network. Here is the link if anyone is looking for it. http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread....nd+MMS+Settings There is a slight differance in the WM2003 and WM2005 settings. Another thing I noticed was, If you have bluetooth switched on or WI-FI switched on then the phone will not connect to the MMS network and download your message Its not that big a problem as the SP5 has a button on the side of the phone that opens the connection manage. so turning Bluetooth/WI-FI on and off is quick and easy. |

Can no one help with this problem. I am begining to think the SP5 will not work on the o2 Ireland network. All the settings on the MoDaCo site have failed. There is not even an option to inform the mods that the settings don't work for Windows Mobile 2005. Imate have no support for Ireland. (Not important enough) What a real pain in the neck this is. |

QUOTE(butcheredboy @ Apr 13 2006, 16:55) I have a small question about Activesync. First let me detail the steps I'm taking. 1. I sync up my contacts on my phone and PC 2. I disconnect my phone and delete a contact on the phone 3. I reconnect the phone and PC, then resync At this point, Outlook then deletes the contact that I erased from the phone. Is there any way to prevent this? It appears that if I accidentily delete the wrong entry on my phone, then I can't recover it (and ultimately lose it on my phone and PC). How would I just resync the Contact from my PC to my phone? Also, is the "Settings..." button (when you right-click the mouse on Contacts) ever accessible? If so, how or when? Thanks in advance. To stop the delete of the contact on your PC; before you connect your phone, open the contact inquestion and click save and close. this will make the file the most recent file and copy it back to your phone. The same works from phone to PC Alan |

I hope someone can help with my problem I am having trouble getting MMS working on my I-Mate SP5 with the 02 Ireland network. I have contacted o2 Ireland and they can’t help as they don’t have the settings, I tried clubimate and they only have the settings for o2 UK and not o2 Ireland. I had the SPV C500 and copied the settings exactly as they where in that phone but still nothing working. I tried the settings in the MoDaCo site and still nothing. Is this an Windows 2005 issue or have I just got it wrong!! Here is the setting I am using on my I-Mate SP5 on the o2 Ireland Network. Can't get MMS working but can get Internet using GPRS but very slow. QUOTE(fluffcat1 @ Apr 11 2006, 16:53) You must be missing something - GPRS APN's are not phone OS dependant! It may be you enter the dat in a different field in wm2005, but they are standard settings for that network - if you are entering all the info and it still isn't working you are entering it incorrectly. Have you tried http://web.o2.ie/personal/help/connecting_...ne_settings.jsp to send the settings via SMS? There are various options you could try, such as phone model 'i-mate smartphone' or 'HTC Tanager' or even 'Qtek 7070' ( I notice also they have Vertu models listed !) I setup my wm2003 mpx220 with orange UK's SMS for wm2002 MPX200 ages ago - it may work. Richard Tried getting the o2 Settings from the site. I enter my phone number and the requested settings and nothing is sent. When I contacted o2 they said "Although the phones are listed on the site, we don't have settings for them." go figure!!! There are differances in the setup of WM5 (SP5) and WM2003 (SP3) I noticed that when I was copying the setting over. for Example: the SP5 has a field: WAP Gateway where as the SP3 hasen't. In this field I have- 192.168.90.74 I was going to try and download the settings for o2 UK then change the settings to match Ireland but I am unsure if it will work or cause more problems then I need. |

QUOTE(fluffcat1 @ Apr 11 2006, 16:00) Isn't there an operator cab file at clubimate? IF you type the settings in manually the c500 / sp3 settings will work fine - the networks don't have different GPRS connection points for each phone ;-) Richard Club Imate have no settings for o2 Ireland. I wish they did. I contacted them and they sent me some instruction PDF that was hopeless. I then contacted o2 Ireland and they said they don't have the settings. I had the Orange SPV C500 and copied the settings exactly as they where and still nothing worked. The SP5 is WM5 and the SP3 or SPVC500 is 2002-2003. This is where I think the problems are. All the settings I have tried have failed so far. |

QUOTE(jimbouk @ Mar 7 2006, 11:51) I am having the same problem with WinMob2005 on my I-mate SP5. It downloads the emails regardless of size or hearder sellect. I want to view them on my phone but leave them on the server for later use. I have it setup this way on 3 PC's and 1 PDA. The 4th machine is where the emails will be actully removed from the server. Its it possible for Windows 2005 to leave the emails on the server!! Alan |
