T9ish, i.e. predictive.

P

Can someone describe how the T9ish does work? If it is predictive then it means that there is a dictionary in use. So for people often writing in different languages they would have to switch the dictionary in settings. Or people who are used to enter specific words which are not in the dictionary.....oh gosh if it is really a dict-based system then it is not very different to the default T9 which I don't like - I like FREEDOM :-)

Volume adjustement during call - THING:

has anyone figured out how to do it "officialy" or is that previously mentioned workaround with the scroll wheel the only chance how to set the volume?

just returned home and I again had to take the 503 into my hands :-( Yes it would be THAT device.

guys another interesting thing is the memory, let's compare with your units:

Storage
Total: 192 MB
In use: 156 MB
Free: 35 MB

Program
Total: 95 MB
In use: 71 MB
Free: 25 MB

Nothing installed, it's completely blank.
This topic is being discussed on Ubiquio's support forum as well: http://www.expansys.com/ft.aspx?k=95530

I am really desperate....I WANT THIS DEVICE, but ......

QUOTE(michehrlich @ Aug 7 2007, 10:47) *
I'm definitely keeping mine, as it's the only device on the market right now that can support all the things I need to do with a mobile device. If I were into sliders then I might consider an HTC TyTN or Kaiser, but I find the candybar form factor to be faster.

Basically, it's a mobile productivity tool, so as long as it lets me get the job done quickly then I can live with imperfections.

I'd be happy if I saw it in the same optimistic way like michehrlich. Unfortunately the reliable text entry is Prio No. 1 for me and this is not provided by the 503G at this moment.

I mean I have the Moto q9h as well at this moment so for me it is impossible to forget about that bug. With Moto you're just tyyyyyping...without taking care of anything. With UBI I need to type slowly and watch the entered texty continuosly and just pressing backspace and coreeeeecting.

ok I'm going to send my unit back to expansys. this is too much to me. I get no money for being a beta, or actually an alpha-tester.

Another issue is to set volume during a call, this is a real challenge. Now I've got it somehow, you have to play with the scroll wheel, push it and scroll a bit, then with a bit luck you are able to adjust it, but it is not very clear and easy.

Have they sent me a pre-production unit or what? This is not a realy wise approach for a start-up brand..

My ROM is 02.06.1_S0707161621(12.190)
BSP Revision: 02.06.01_S0707161543(12.190)

it's strange that michehrlich doesn't have the same issue as the ROM seem to be the same....
I disabled the word recognition and auto-correction....nothing helps. Just cannot use it. Or I use it like press A...wait...pres B...wait...pres C....wait... :-)

Hi Paul thank you man.
I'd appreciate if you managed to get a commitment from the Product Manager on when they'll release an update, because I've got 14 days period I can return the device and get back my money.

thanks

my friends I got mine today and although I started to be very happy and smiling I had to stop with it and had to start crying....why?
the device would be just great - the screen with its resolution....wow...BUT - I am not able to use it !!!

The reason is you cannot use the keyboard properly! Typing letters with normal speed (experienced user but no turbo-user) means that nearly every second hit is not recognized so almost every second letter is missing.

Typing e.g. "Ubiquio" in really NORMAL speed will result in "UBQUI" or "LOVE" = "LOV"....oh guys what is this a peace of sh.t or what ???? !!!!
I tried everything, reset, tried with Word Mobile, then in Notes...it seems that the keyboard vs. software part is very very buggy and bad.

Any opinions on that?
He I would hate myself if I had to return the device!

QUOTE(spark9990 @ Apr 24 2007, 10:09) *
you first need an application with which you can emulate a touchscreen on your smartphone. Copy the folder labeled "FakeCursor" to your phone. I like to put it in \Program Files but you can really put it anywhere.

Now you need to map a hardware key to \Program Files\Fakecursor\Fakecursor.exe. Since many of the phones may be different in this regard I cannot offer specifics as to ow to do this.

Most of TomTom6 you can use without touchscreen emulation, but certain things (setting up GPS or selecting from a list) need to use fakecursor. When the need arises, just push the button you mapped fakecursor to and a crosshair will appear. Use the crosshair like you would use your stylus by moving it with the d-pad or phone joystick and you're all set. On my Tmobile Dash, pushing the fakecursor button again to close it will bump me out to the homescreen, but TT6 is still still running. Kind of a pain but still better than Route66 smile.gif

-----
Could someone post their experience about if it woks/doesnt work. Thanks.

I am trying that on my new Moto q9h but I'm wondering how to assign a hardware button to the fakecursor? Which tool are you using to assign keys on Smartphone?

guys as I synchronize emails with my company's exchange server I had to install a security certificate which forced me to set a device-lock password. after that everytime I power on the Touch there is a short delay, the screen lights up but first after 1 sec the display with the UI shows up. This is bit annoying

Any idea?

sorry, that was the first port of call. they don't seem to have it.

I had the same problem just could not find the maps on the TomTom website, funny.
Now I've got it both, TomTom 6.0 with 6.0-maps for Central+Eastern Europe as one single map. But all I can tell is that I didn't pay money for it.

There are so many nice themes out there, but after any applied theme, the screen of the phone application, so the call progress and part of the dialpad screen remains green - default HTC theme.

My phone is CID unlocked.

I tried with the very nice homescreen attached, but when I switch to the dial/phone screen, I again see the default green background.

Any idea?

Hi folks, besides some of the PPC 2003 "old" freeware applications offering some simple stopwatch/counttimer functionality, do you know any which is designed for WM5 PPC? I hate that old design UI and need only simple counting - nothing else.

with Pocket PC you get much more possibilities of using another PIM progs like AgendaOne by Developerone (quite good), but better PocketInformant (.com) which is the big brother of Papyrus and very very good :-)

Hi guys, I've got also one, ordered Friday and got Saturday at 12 (thanks DHL and my favorite shop) :-)
I think its the better Wizard and the best HTC with sliding keyboard.

The cover and materials are nice, the display sliding out part is out of black, cool metal. The keyboard buttons are the best ones at all.

The power performance is more than I exptected, even better than on my Excalibur, better than Treo 750v.

Sound quality of phone application is the best of Wizard and TyTN, I think better than Excalibur, clear and natural.

Overall volume is loud enough, I read about complains which I cannot confirm. Its very good pocketable, ok, little heavier than I expected.

And whats amazing is the general system speed - guys take the Wizard and TyTN and multiple by x2.
I don't know why and how, but it's so fast, faster than TyTN with 400Mhz, faster than Treo 750v with 300Mhz, very usefull. The screen swichtes from normal to landscape without any single interruption or delay, thats fun!

Reception is good, screen also, I'm going to install my TomTom now and will take it with me for the next few days/weeks....let's see what's the next coming to make us happy.

Nice little find i want to share with you all. Enjoy.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you are suffering from missed phone calls that went straight to voicemail despite the fact the handset is on and has a signal then you are suffering from 3G lockout. This is caused by the phone call arriving as the ophone is converting its signal from GSM to UMTS or vice versa. My N70 handset does this to me almost constantly where I live. It's caused by a flaky UMTS signal. You can resolve the problem by putting the phone in GSM mode. You will notice that the problem will stop.

Thank you for this !!
But - what about reception going down and completely off and the automatic reception renewal does not start after lost signal?

Many times a day network goes off for no reason.
I have to turn it OFF/ON or choose select network.

Another problem appearing at the same time is that when I dial a number, there is that normal dialing tone but immediately after it a new much louder dialing tone appears and I need to hold Treo off of my head as its extremely loud. Then the normal dialing tone and again a second very loud one...

I do see this only when I'm in a roaming network, no matter which one (tried many).

like pressing and holding the end key? Or are you looking for something different?

Actually yes. With PocketPC you pres just once the end key (you don't ned to hold it) and its locked. Once again presed and its unlocked. There is no bothering key combination needed to unlock like with WM5-Smartphone.

Except the Maniac's Autokeylock Application - do you see any chance maybe with reg hack how to activate any button to have it working like on many Pocket PCs - so hit only once to lock the keys?

I like that feature very much especialy on Treo 750 but even on HTY TyTN it's more comfortable to switch off the screen and keys while remaining in the same application / menu. This doesn't work with Treo as there you need to hit the switch button twice (1st to leave app and get home, 2nd to switch off).

This is something many people would like to have the choice and should not be that difficult to find out (registry?), but I'm not the big reg-hacker :-)

The idea is how to set the Treo to write, show, send and receive SMS text messages with the standard pocket Outlook application of WM5.

Why?
Because I like to have emails and SMS collected within one application AND I want to sync SMS using Jeyo with my desktop Outlook.

Ideas?
