Try going into the high street during the week and see what deals you can get.

I got mine from T-Mobile on their Web & Walk tariff - currently £27.50 a month - which includes unlimited internet use, and more minutes than I need. The deal was originally £50 for the phone, but then I took out insurance at £8 per month (which you can cancel with 30 days notice) and he gave me the Kaiser free ;-).

Tried Orange before that and the deal was not bad but they give £100 for your old phone (any phone I believe) which made the Kaiser only £125.

Welcome Alex,

you can actually get that mini SD WiFi card from Expansys:
http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=125665

Although I honestly would not know if this works with an SD to Mini SD adapter. It would also seem that the Mini SD card is a little larger than a standard mini SD flash card (a normal mini sd flash card sits in an SD adapter flush with the outer edge so as to appear as the same size as a normal SD card. It shouldn't stick out much more than 5 mm though.

I would be interested to know if anyone has tried the mini sd WiFi though.
...actually, just checked the Expansys forum for the mini sd card and someone has actually tried it already and found that it works:

Thanks to bogblaster (on another forum) we now have a cab file for people who have had to perform a hard reset.

This will make the phone application work correctly again.

You can download the cab file from: http://www.fourpages.co.uk/A701/eDialer.ARMV4.CAB

Hi,

I use mine one handed, but I do have the screen protector installed. I wouldn't like to do it too often without the screen protector.

Oh bummer. Could it be the 'Quick Position' utility then, automatically trying to update?

Hi Paul,

It just wont install from PC via the disc. Keeps saying it cannot find the device. So I installed the Cab file directly on the A701 which installs fine but when running MioMap an error just says 'the UCF-Path does not exist.' with a blue screen!

But I wonder if the MioMap I have is only for a specific device and not generally for all GPS PDAs.

Check the post 'Device 'waking up' at random?', you may have activesync waking up every 10 minutes. I also think the battery life gets better after charging almost every day for 1 - 2 weeks as mine is much better than it was a week ago.

Oh you might want to try some softwar elike 'Magic Button' as well. It properly closes apps down instead of leaving them running in the background.

Hi,

it is actually Activesync waking up every 10 minutes which is a total pain in the rear end. There is a quick fix though!!! ....

Go into ActiveSync on the A701.
Click 'Menu' then 'Add Server Source'.
Add a bogus 1.1.1.1 as a server ... then any letter as the user/pass/domain. Then uncheck those boxes at the end.
Now go back into 'Menu', 'Schedule', and switch to 'Manual' for those options.
You can delete this server afterward from the ActiveSync 'Options' list and it will still retain the Manual setting.

You'll probably find your battery life increases significantly (although I think this is also the case when you charge the phone every day for a week to 2 weeks).

Hi Paul,

Did you get MioMap with the phone? Or buy it seperately? I cannot get MioMap 2.0 to even install. But Tom Tom 5 works fine though.

Shame about the rubber-SD door tho...

Hi Paul,

I bought this one from eBuyer:
http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/in...oduct_uid=89714

Great price, especially as it as WPA, but you have to use the drivers on this page for Windows Mobile 2005:
http://www.ambicom.com/support/installation/wl/sd/index.htm

Cheers,
Pete.
