It exists! I used to have it on my tytn, when I was using the touchscreen dialpad for every number it was vibrating. Don't know (don't remember) if it works also for typing sms / e-mail. Unfortunately I forgot the name of the program, but it was freeware.

Do you also know how to edit the position of the operator name?
I would like mine to be positioned more to the left, as part of the name is missing now mad.gif

Hey there,

For a couple of days now, I have my Diamond. All great, but I can hardly play any streaming content from the internet over UMTS.
On my tytn (win mo 6.0) it wasn't any problem. On my diamond after connecting and buffering, it finally says "playing" but the screen stays black...

-edit- streaming audio is no problem. The problem occurs for streaming video, like live TV.

Does anyone have any idea what could be the problem for the Diamond?

After a ROM upgrade, your whole phone is being wiped. Only the contents on your storage card will remain available.
Thus, you have to create a new connection to the internet. Like you've done before you'd upgraded to WM6. Now there just isn't any connection defined and so your phone doesn't know how and where to connect to. How to create a connection using WM6 I don't know, since I haven't upgraded yet. But at least now you know the reason why you've lost your settings.

Good luck!

What version of Windows Mobile are you running. IIRC the external GPS module is not visible under WM5. You probably need to set the ports in the GPS module. Sorry if that makes little sense, but I have not used WM5 for ages (since before I had a BT GPS)

I'm using the iBlue 747 Pro on my Vario II and it works perfect. After pairing it, have you assigned a COM-port to it?
After you've done that, in TT6 you've got to select 'bluetooth gps' and then click the COM-port it's assigned to. In the manual of the 747 this is all explained clearly. Dunno though if this is being explained for the 737 as well however...

-edit- Oops i've quoted the wrong person lol

It's definatly easy. I'm using a Vario II from T-Mo, but I spose urs is similar cuz of this part of the forum unsure.gif
Neway, make sure ur phone doesnt have a dataconnection already. Disable pushmail and then tap the button for closing ur dataconnection (if any ofcos).
Hook up ur phone by USB to ur computer or notebook, from the programs menu start the wireless modem application. The click menu and hit start.
Ull notice the active sync connection getting disconnected and if this is the first time u do this, ur puter will find some new hardware and will attempt to install the drivers for it.
Ie. ull get to see HTC USB Modem or summit similar. Those drivers came with the CD of ur phone, or can be downloaded from the HTC website as well.
Now make a new dial-up connection, use *99# as the number to dial and there u go.

Bluetooth is possible as well, but I wouldn't recommend the wireless modem stuff. Just pair ur phone, from ur BT settings create an incoming connection. The create an new connection and use Modem over Bluetooth or summit like that.

Good luck!

I've just done this trick as well and it works superb!
Ofcourse I was a lil scared while flashing and all but all turned out working properly. Now I can use my T-Mobile and my Vodafone sim!
Haven't really made a phonecall yet so I dunno if, as stated a few replies back, the sound is more clear. However I can't say I found it bad anyway already.
Anyway I'm happy this works!

My e-mail always arrives, more or less, depending on size, like 10 - 15 seconds after the sender has hit the 'send' button. I've never had any problem with that.
I've set my sync as well to 'when items arrive' and it's never been changed back to manual automatically. If you check your mail account through the web on your computer, do you see items arrive instantly or do they take a while to arrive there as well?

Does anyone know about a way to speed up the refresh rate of the carrier signal?
My old nokias used to have a refresh rate of nearly once or twice per second.
My ex Tornado with WM5 was a wee bit slower already but not annoyingly.
My TyTn IS slow. Especially once it's on UMTS. I can walk down the hall, and by the end of the hall it starts to update to a weaker signal. Quite annoyingly.
Is it a registry hack? I can't seem to find a solution so far mad.gif

If you want to use MSN on your smartphone just with the intention to chat with your mates, you could download Prelude (preludeicq.com).
The newest version somehow doesn't support MSN anymore, but if you take a look at the forum over there you'll find a link at rapidshare to get an older version which does support the MSN messenger.

My smartphone, an Imate SP5m, has Pocket MSN installed already with the ROM.

Is there a way to display the total of sms and the total of outlook messages on your homescreen? Normally they only show the amount of unread messages. I would like to always be able to see how many messages I've got. Anyone?

Does anyone know of a way to update the ROM from Storage card? Is that possible at all?
Reason I ask, is my collegue has a Q-Tek 8300 and the USB doesn't seem to work.
Every computer he's tried does see new device connected to USB, but none of them recognizes the device anymore.

A hard reset neither worked. So, my last option would be to re-install the phone with a fresh ROM.
The only problem is, to achieve that, active sync is needed. Updating the ROM over bluetooth isn't really safe in my opinion. I would go for 'wired'. So, that's how I was wondering if there's the possibility of updating the ROM from SD-card... Anyone?

As for T-Mobile in the Netherlands; yes they compress jpg and gif etc files as well. However, you can enable and disable the compression as you prefer by surfing to a specific website using your handheld and there just switch the setting.

I'm using a 2.5 to 3.5mm adapter as well. Sound is stereo but somehow, if I unplug the adapter like a milimeter from my phone, the music / sound is slightly more clear. Perhaps a short circuit or something, but anyway since I stream the music from the internet into my car it's ok since music over 4 - 5 kb/s is not crystal clear at all laugh.gif

Now, I'm doing it differently. Here in the Netherlands on T-Mobile you can access the internet over GPRS with flatfee. About $11,- a month for unlimited time and bandwith. I now pair my bluetooth PDA with my phone, so I can access the internet on my PDA with GPRS speed. I keep my phone in the pocket of my jeans, plug a cable into my PDA and hear streaming music from all over the world in my car. I've made a little HTML file with extra big letters so I can change channel by just hitting the screen with my finger while driving. Nothing dangerous really. And always great to hear your favourite music station even at places where the station doesn't have coverage cool.gif

Hmmm... So let me get this right, you want to use your SP5m as a bluetooth headset, so-to-speak? As far as I've seen, this hasn't been done before... Obviously you would need to pair the devices, and then the SP5m would need to identify itself as a headset rather than a phone, however, that's just my theory, as I've never used a BT headset in my life.

-pause-

So I just re-read over the post, and turns out I've got it the wrong way around ... Well, in that case, it would be the same, just swap the devices, however, I'm not quite sure what you want to accomplish?

Yes you're right, but the opposite way. I want to use my PDA as a bluetooth headset.
I've got no clue what program I can use, either an emulator which makes my PDA identify itself as a headset or a program which makes me choose on my phone whether the paired device is a phone or a headset.

If anyone knows something, hit in here please. smile.gif

I'm already using it. Running it from my PDA with GPS and WM5, connected to the internet with my WM5 phone over bluetooth and GPRS.

The application isn't very stable on my PDA, it crashes often at the start. The times it doesn't crash, it works as it should.

Other than this, it's a very nice application. One pity: the website to track someone doesn't work fine with Internet Explorer. However, Firefox takes it without a problem.

www.orb.com does exactly the same.
Start the orb server on your computer at home and choose which files to 'share' for yourself.

Login with your mobile device, during login the orb server detects the speed of the connection to your device and spins down the kbit/s on the fly.

Hello there,

I've surfed all over the internet, read like a hundred of pages, but I can't find the solution (if there is).

I own a mobile phone I-Mate SP5m with WM5. And, I own a Mitac Mio P550 with WM5.
Is there software around which makes it possible to let my PDA function as a carkit for my I-Mate?
I know I could use the handsfree function of my phone, but usually it in my pocket or 'flying' somewhere in my car. I don't want to need a 2nd holder, because I'm already having the one for my PDA in front of my window.

So, is there software around that makes it possible to pair my PDA with my phone over bluetooth so I can have a conversation through my PDA? If you know what I mean...

And, my other question... is there software around that when I receive an incoming call, that it displays the number (with or without the name corresponding in the contacts list) on my PDA with bluetooth?

Many thanks in advance!

Hello,

Please don't confuse this topic with the other one having almost the same topic title wink.gif

Okay, I have managed long time ago to internet on my pc using the BT and GPRS of my SP5m. Now, I want to do the next step, but I don't have a clue where or how to start.
How can I connect my computer to the internet using the WiFi-connection of my phone?
If I use the same way for GPRS by dialling *99#, it connects, ofcourse, to the GPRS which I don't want in this case.
If I sync my phone with active sync, the WiFi disappears somehow..... So, I think there should be a way to do this without active sync, like active sync neither is neccesary for using the GPRS.

Why do I want this? Well, imagine you're using a notebook but the WiFi signal is a bit weak. Then you can register your SP5m with the WiFi at a place where the reception is better, then connect your pc to the phone using BT with max 10 meters of distance. This increases your freedom of where to sit much more and it's still a lot faster than the GPRS cool.gif Only thing is you have to make sure nobody will steal your phone laugh.gif .

Anyway, is there anyone who has managed to achieve this? And / or someone who could possible give me hints?

Thank you very much!

Not sure how to do this while being wired by USB, but using bluetooth it's not very hard.
Connect your BT with your phone, and you will discover your computer starts installing some peripheral devices. Next create a dial-up connection, and use the bluetooth dialup thing. You don't need to use a username / password. As for the number to dial hit *99#. Done.
This works for surfing on your computer using your tornado with GPRS.
Don't know if this works as well when your phone's connected with WiFi.

Does any one knows how to change the default URL when you click on the IE shortkey (on SP5M). Buy default it sends me to the imate.com.

Thank you
Alex

Well yes. Go to the Windows map and copy Short_AP1.lnk to your computer.
Change the contents of the file to ie.:
23#\Windows\iexplore.exe http://www.google.nl

Now, if you open IE from the Start Menu it opens Google instead of the standard imate.com website.
Also the file Long_AP1.lnk contains 23#\Windows\iexplore.exe http://www.imate.com
But when I had changed these values, nothing happened. But, I have to admit I hadn't restarted my phone meanwhile. So, perhaps that one does work after a restart of your phone.
