By "sticking", I mean that upon the completion on a word (for example: motorcycle), the "e" key will get stuck and keep on typing the letter so that my word will become "motorcycleeeeeeeeeeeeee" until I am quick enough to hit another key to stop it.

What ROM do you run? T-Mobile Dash WM5/6?
You say it's only when you complete a word - this means you run a ROM with xT9 text prediction or similar, otherwise the phone won't know when a word ends.
This indicates in my opinion that it's SW related.
I haven't seen this on my S620 (WM5 nearly 100% HTC ROM with no text prediction at all) so far for the last six month.

Eek, so I assume it won't boot?

This is exactly why it's risky before a RUU is released. If there was a RUU, you could now put it in bootloader and reflash to revive it.

P

There is a (official Touch ROM) RUU available at pdamobiz:

RUU_Elf_DOPODASIA_WWE_1.11.707.1B_4.1.13.42_02.93.90_Ship.exe

I think this would help to get the Touch back to life if you damaged it with a wrong flash.

I wonder if it is leaking from IE. My Temporary Internet Folder never gets higher than a few k. On WM5 this could be several megs in size.

Have you tried an alternative Browser like Opera or Opera Mini?

@dog, Paul or another happy guy who already has this awesome device in hands:

please can you make a screenshot directly from the homescreen and post it?

please do not compress with jpg but with lossless png format or as raw bmp

I just want to make a homescreen for smartphones with this LCD screen.

Thanx very much in advance

When you are on a roaming network you are supposed to get a white roaming triangle icon at the top of the homescreen page.

I have travelled to several countries recently and the roaming icon has not appeared once.

Is this a Dash bug?

Strange - on my O2 Cosmo (which is nearly the same as original HTC S620) it works as expected

Do run WM5 or WM6?

When i try to charge my dash, the red LED at the top of the phone briefly blinks red and then nothing else happens. I cannot get the phone to power on, either.
Does anyone know what this means?

I think there are two possibilities:
1. (I don't hope for you) the "BIOS" is broken and the phone therefore cannot boot
2. the battery is broken

Dash WM6 is officially out now laugh.gif

It looks like the same as the "leaked" one. They are the same size and Total Commander says they are (binary) identical.

So please go on and post you're experience....

did anybody of you get a software running that monitors the GPRS traffic on the Excalibur?

I tried some apllications but only the special version for QTEK8500 of efficasoft's GPRS Traffic Monitor was able to count the traffic.
The others didn't count anything on my O2 XDA cosmo.

Anybody who found another one that counts correctly or is it just an issue with the O2 ROM version ?

It's the first beta for the smartphone edition of WM5... You should provide this info to the author so he can fix it in a future beta.

That's what I did and the author of pTravelAlarm answered very quickly.
He is indeed working on a beta 2.7.2 and he sent me a drop of his current version.

This one fixed at least the issue on my phone, but he is still working on the software.
So hold one a little bit - pTravelAlarm is on the way biggrin.gif

The grand-daddy of Windows Mobile alarm clocks (having been using this one since the early days of Windows CE) has just come out with a beta for WM5 Smartphones (landscape and otherwise).

pTravelAlarm -- simple, easy to use, doesn't jump through hoops, just reliably wakes you up ohmy.gif

http://www.burroak.on.ca/pta.html

Maybe anyone can confirm the bug I see on my german XDA cosmo (O2 branded Excalibur):

it appears as soon as a lock is enabled:
"device lock" (this lock where you have to type in a PIN to unlock the phone)
or the "keypad lock" (where you have to press left softkey and "*" ).
Now when the alarm rings the pTravelAlarm comes in foreground and you have the choice to "snooze" or "stop" the alarm.

So far so good.

But now the problem:
regardless of which of the two buttons you press you are locked out of the phone. pTA is still in foreground and the left software button says "unlock" but when you press it nothing happens.

In consequence the only possible thing is to remove the battery and restart the phone.

So this pretty software is useless for me at the moment, because I don't want to restart my phone every morning with this rude method.

Anyone else with this problem or is it only the german O2 ROM which causes this problem?

I run TomTom Mobile 5.2x on my Dash, works great.

Can confirm that. Full-screen!!! A little bit crippled menus, but absolutely readable.
I have a German O2 XDA Cosmo which is more like the original HTC S620 than the Dash (no XT9 Text, very few branding, ...)

The only thing is the input of addresses in TT. Only letters which don't have assigned a number, work as expected. The others are like multitap (1-9 -> WER, SDF, XCV). So if you want to type a "W" you have to hit "9" 1 time instead, "E" is 2 times "3", "R" is 3 x "7" and so on

Route 66 should work, TomTom 6 is not designed for the device so it would be a waste of money buying it.
I don't think CoPilot are up to speed with the newer resolutions as yet.

Thanks for the keyword "CoPilot" - never heard of it before

Found a special version of CoPilot Live 6 T-Mobile Dash Software but it's not available yet.

Also found a thread at xda-developers that route 66 still has a keyboard issue and the support said they will release an update "soon"

Hi,

has anybody info about a working navigation software on the Excalibur?

as Paul has mentioned (>here<) TomTom 5.2 and Navigator 6 don't run in a usable way.

Has anybody tried out Route66?
Since they have listed the Moto Q in their supported phones list and show a picture of a Samsung SGH-i320 running Route 66 my hopes are high that it's running on the Excalibur.

Or does anybody know any other solution that works?

Thanks for your help

TomTom6 will not work properly as this is not a PocketPC.
Unfortunately TomTom are not releasing version 6 for the Smartphone at the moment. Hopefully this may change.

So I have to go with Route66 which is cheaper in addition tongue.gif

I suppose it should work on S620, because they list the Moto Q in their supported phones list and show a picture of I320 running Route 66

Has anybody experience with Route 66 on a S620?

The build of TomTom 5.2 i've tried, which I believe is the latest, doesn't like being run in Landscape, nor the QWERTY keyboard

Is TomTom (5.2 is the actual smartphone version) although usable despite of these two restrictions?
Can you choose to run it in Portrait mode and do you get a correct display output?

Or is TT5.2 not usable at all?

The S620 would fit my needs exactly what I've heard so far but I would love to have a usable navigation software on it.

Can anybody say something about the volume of the internal speaker?

Is it loud enough to navigate with TomTom while driving in the car?

Actually the sound level of my SDAII is a little bit poor (especially when I drive a little bit faster over the german highways biggrin.gif )

In TomTom can you type in the city and the streets with the alpha-keyboard or just only with the number keys?

Is the screen still readable in direct sunlight or without backlight (on SDAII I see nearly nothing under these conditions)?

Thanks guys...
