Super Metroid has always worked well for me. Frameskip and all. One of the best running games I have tried on this emulator. If anyone else has any status reports on how other games run let me know so I can try them as well.

Hey, I've been messing around with this new version and I will say that it's great. The speed does seem to have improved a bit for some games. Super Metroid runs almost perfectly along with Super Mario World, Castlevania 4, Contra 3 and Joe and Mac. Street Fighter 2 Turbo works pretty well also. I keep mine on frame skip 4. Any less than that and the games don't seem to run at full speed. I will mess with more games to see. My phone is also overclocked to 264 Mhz.

Also, Final Fantasy 3 runs at just about full speed. Although I heard from someone that you can't get past the part with the snow in the intro without the game freezing. I will try to find out at some point.

Ok, well why would it make any difference then if I open one program, close it, and then open another one. If the program is closed why would it effect another program? Why would that make smartsnes work any better? And Super Metroid works great on Pocketsnes with sound enabled. Very playable.

I tried what you said but I fail to see the advantage. I get better results when I just use PocketSNES. I can get close to full speed out of some games by simply using that program with my phone overclocked. I don't see how running 2 programs at once can help considering the fact that it takes up more of the phones memory and slows it down. I ran Super Mario World with the method you mentioned and it ran very slow compared to the speed I can get out of just using PocketSNES with my phone overclocked.

I have a Cingular 2125 Smartphone over clocked to 264Mhz. Maybe I am doing something wrong, but I don't see the benefit. Please post your results if you have tried it. I am curious to see how it works.

I wouldn't say this thread is "dead" I just think that Picodrive is to a fairly stable point and alot of games work at good speeds (on a C600 overclocked anyway). Masterall is working on 3 seperate emulators so I'm sure he's busy and will update when he has a new version. We did get a lot of updates for this particular emulator in the past month or so. So I'm happy for the moment.

A couple of other things to note, Sonic 3 as a whole runs fantastic! One of the best emulated games on this emulator. Except for 1 thing, the bonus levels are very hard to play because they are a bit garbled and actually run a little too fast so it is hard for me to dodge the balls. Also Phatasy Star 2 and 3 have garbled sound issues but 4 seems to work beautifuly. Sonic 2 also seems to be a bit unstable but Sonic 1 works just about perfectly. Thats all for now.

I have been trying to get my email working with Outlook on a Cingular 2125 running Windows Mobile 5 for Smartphones. I have a gmail account and it automatically detected all the settings when I set it up in Outlook. I can also send out emails from Outlook. However, when I try to receive my emails my phone sits there for a long time and then brings me to this error message:

"The following errors occurred while sending and receiving mail:" "Timed out waiting for a response from the server, try again."

I have tried changing the settings around, I enabled SSL and still nothing. When I write an email and send it though, no problem. Anyone have any ideas? I'm stuck...

I am using this plugin: http://www.airfagev.com/skins1.asp?id=462

It requires Smart Monitor and RJTime in order to work properly. It works great, except that I can't get my clock out of Military (aka 24 hour) time. I have tried the clock settings on the actual phone with no success (the actual phone settings say the time is normal). And I can't find any sort of settings for RJ Time that would allow me to change the clock out of Military time. Any feedback would be appreciated!

Haven't had any problems like that synthesis77. Most games I have work great on startup. And I got Dragon Warrior 2 working, just needed a different ROM. I also noticed that the graphics for level 2 in Ninja Gaiden 2 are garbled. You can still play through the level, just hard to see.

What kind of phone do you have synthesis77?

You don't need to unlock this phone, it comes unlocked (another reason why I love this phone!). All you have to do with the emulator is unzip it on your PC and then copy the unzipped file over to a directory in your cell phone.

Actually, just look on the Nintendo forum I gave you the link for and all the instructions should be there.

Opera Mini is 100% FREE! Just download it, install and your ready to go. It has all the instructions on that site I sent you the link for. It works great on my 2125. The only thing you have to pay for is your internet access through cingular. I believe my plan is $20 a month for unlimited internet access. Which is a great deal.

Here are the links to the emulators on this forum:

You can find PocketSNES 1.52 here: Super Nintendo

You can find Picodrive 0.47 here: Sega Genesis

And you can find PocketNesterPlus here: Nintendo

Those are the forum links, just scroll down to the bottom of the first post and he has a link to where you can download them. Just unzip the files to a directory on your cell phone and then run the executable and they work great.

For Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis to work properly with sound you will need overclocking software called OmapClock v.0.2. I'm not sure where to get it but I do know that it is here on the forum. Try searching for it on here. If you can't find it just ask me and I'll email it to you. It is a small program but extremely useful.

Also, when you use OmapClock the maximum you will be able to overclock your phone to is 264Mhz, if you try any higher your phone will reset itself. From what I have heard it is completely harmless to your phone, just makes the batteries drain a bit faster. Hope all this helps.

I have the same phone you do. It is a GREAT phone. Not sure what problem you are having with the music, I haven't had that problem. Not sure about the wireless router either or even if that is possible. Actually, if you use Opera Mini, it is very fast, almost as fast as Cable and you can go to any website you want. You can find it here: http://www.opera.com/products/mobile/operamini/

As far as games go, there are tons. Just look around the forums. If you are interested in emulation there are some great Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo, Nintendo, PC Engine, Atari etc, emulators here. Just download them, copy them to your smartphone and find a ROMS site like Rom Nation and your ready to go.

Hope this helps.

I've been playing with this emulator for about a month now and I must say it works great! Great compatibility and sound! Now for a few bugs, portrait mode doesn't work quite right for some reason. There are weird lines running horizontally across the screen when I try it. Also I think there is a problem with the vertical scroll. When I was playing through Dragon Warrior I noticed a lot of flickering when I walked vertically, not so much horizontally. It's no big deal though, the games still work great!

I also couldn't get Dragon Warrior 2 to work. It just freezes my phone and I have to pull the battery out to get it to turn off. Can someone else test this for me to see if it has the same efffect? Could be the ROM. I will try some other ones.

Any plans to update this emulator anymore Masterall? It works great as it is, but I'm curious..

Well after playing with the emulator (Phantasy Star 2 mostly, sound is a bit garbled but the game works great) quite a bit in the past few days I noticed that that bug isn't a big deal. If it happends I just exit Picodrive and restart it again and the problem is fixed. So for now it is running great! I'll continue to update if I find any other unusual things. Thanks!

I discovered another strange bug that I figured I'd report. After loading several different games I noticed that sometimes when I went back into the ROM select screen only about 1/3 of my ROMS were present and the games would then run slow for some reason when I select them. When this happends I usually break out of the emulator and when I do that, for some reason Picodrive doesn't show up in my task manager and whenever I try to re-enter the emulator it takes me to the same ROM select screen, except now it is frozen. The only way to fix the problem seems to be to reboot my phone. Very strange.. Just figured I'd share the bug.

Ok, I got Flashback working. The ROM I had didn't work on any emulators I tried. Actually, it was difficult to even get a working ROM. I tried 5 different ones until I got one working on any emulator. But it works great. Now I just need sound in Kid Chameleon and I will be as happy as I can be. Thanks again Masterall. You are a GOD! biggrin.gif

That makes sense because Aladdin and Earthworm Jim are both later generation 24 Megabit Genesis games (the ROMS unzipped are probably around 4 megs each on the PC). So that could be it.

Yeah it's when I go from one game to another now that I think of it. I played Earthworm Jim for about an hour and had no slow down. Then I switched to Aladdin and the game ran slower. Once I restarted the phone it worked fine. Perhaps thats it...

Flashback the Quest for Identity is the game I was talking about. Perhaps I'll get a different ROM and try it. Maybe your emulator doesn't like the particular ROM dump that I have. I'll let you know what I find out.

Version 0.47 works great masterall. Just thought I'd mention a few other things I noticed. I think the program might have some sort of memory leak. If I'm playing it for a while the emulation tends to slow down over time. To solve it I have to restart my phone and then the games run at full speed again. I don't have this problem with your SNES and NES emulator ports. Just thought I'd mention it.

Also, I have tried about 100 games now and about 90% of them work with sound and with good speed. Although I did notice 2 popular games that still have problems. Kid Chameleon works, but without sound. And I can't get Flashback to work at all. It takes me to a black screen with yellow text across it with a bunch of numbers. And I don't think its the ROM because I have tried it on Fusion and GENS for the PC and it works fine. Strange. Just thought I'd mention that as well.

I will try and compile a list of games that still don't have sound if it will help you with your efforts. Thanks again for a fantastic emulator!

I just meant that my phone will crash equally at 252 and 264Mhz (although it only crashes 1 time in every 20 or so). So I figured why not just use the higher one. I don't think it has any detrimental effects on the phone. Just makes the batteries drain faster. I've even been able to get it to run at 276Mhz but it's unstable. So 264Mhz seems to be the perfect setting. For me anyway..

Yeah I have transperecy effects turned on when I play it. I didn't realize you needed sound turned on for it to run... Interesting.

My phone crashes sometimes when I clock it at 252 Mhz also. So I figured I'd just use 264Mhz. Works great at that speed for me.

jutley, your right, I have the same problem. I have a Cingular Smartphone 2125 (which is a C600) so there is a bug. Screen turns black, I can still hear sound, but can't break out of the program so I have to reboot the phone.

Also jutley, I can get really good speed out of a lot of games even with sound on my C600 (overclocked to 264 Mhz). Try Super Metroid with frameskip at 3, regular portrait and all sound settings turned off except "sound emulation" and "Sync Sound". Mine runs very well (not perfect and there is slow down in certain areas where a lot of enemies come on the screen, but very playable). You should be able to get very playable speed with those settings.
