Thank you everyone for the responses.
Chazznet, where do you live? I heard that it is disabled in some areas.. I am not sure, maybe it is because you are roaming and using someone else's network (but still under T-Mo service) and therefore they do not allow data? Do you live in rural area?

Does the proxy trick still work to get $6.99 internet working on Shadow? I had it working on my SDA perfectly fine, now I plan to buy Shadow, and I just wanted to check if that still works?

Thank Y ou.

Just downloaded vtap on my Shadow. That is one cool program. Plays any video you can think of. Just type it in, and it gives a list of those videos from youtube, google, etc. The shadows not on the list of phones in the windows mobile category, but I used the one for the blackjack and it worked perfectly. Download this free program at vtap.com, you won't be disapponted. Very Cool!!! biggrin.gif wink.gif

I have it on my Blackberry, and it is a great application, I agree.

Can I just install custom applications and freewares that I used to use easily on my SDA on Shadow? I had NO problem whatsoever with SDA, and I was told that SDA was app locked as well. I could install google maps, MSN live, mp3, video players, etc. without problem.

Just want to make sure that I won't run into problems with Shadow.

Thank You.

I was wondering what everyone thinks about the carrier they are using or based on what they have been hearing.

I am in NYC area, and generally travel to Long Island in weekends.
I consider getting Blackberry 8820 or 8300.
AT&T is the only one with 8300
Spring and Verizon has 8820

While I would really like 8300, I am not familiar with ATT reception in NYC area. I don't want to end up with no service or slow reception of e-mails while I am in the buildings, and it seems like Verizon is the best when it comes to that.

Just wanted to get some feedback, as much as I can, because I have to make up my mind pretty soon.

Thanks!

Hello,
I have been using my SDA with T-Mobile (T-Zones) internet plan successfully, thanks to all the help on these forums.

I was thinking of upgrading to HTC Touch, but is it possible to use the same plan on this phone? Since both of them are WM platform, I think with correct connection settings, it should be possible. Not only just Touch but on any kind of pocket pc or smartphone. Is that correct?

Just wanted to find out before I seriously consider buying HTC Touch, or any other pocket pc phone for that matter.

Thank You.

Thanks guys.

I went ahead and upgraded AS to the last version 4.3 or something like that. I haven't tried yet, but my other problem was the playlists.. It is so stupid on WMP on WM5 that it picks up mp3 ringtones and all that crap when I search the device and that there is absolutely NO way to create playlists on WM5.

I will install WMP11 and I will try to create the playlist on my PC, THEN sync it to the SDA, hopefully it will sync with playlists.. What is your solution for playlists? I hate having to set up the list each time when I add new albums to my 1GB miniSD.

Thanks again!

I have SDA from t-mobile, and this wasn't a problem until recently. Whenever I am transferring Mp3s from my laptop to the SDA it gets stuck somewhere in the middle, hten I have to disconnect cable, turn off and reboot the SDA and connect, wait for AS to connect then try again, only to have the same problem..

I am using active sync 4.1.0

thanks.

It really sucks.

Is there any RSS client that works same way as AvantGO works, but over T-Zones? I really like the way AvantGo worked because it was very organized and the sites were very good and webpage like.

Do you know if there is any way to view the pages that AvantGo is supposed to synch, but through explorer?

It should work through proxy. There are some softwares that work, some don't. If IE can work, howcome the others don't... I get Error Write Timed Out

It actually works with Proxy, but only to some extend, it does not completly transfer everything..

Check this from AvantGO:
QUOTE
Error Write Timed Out
Question

Why do I get an Error Write Timed Out message when syncing my wireless device?
Answer

We are looking into this issue. At the current time we believe the problem is that wireless carrier you are using is not allowing our large data transfers through their networks. We have seen this problem mostly but not limited to the GSM networks of T-Mobile http://t-mobile.com/ and AT&T/Cingular Wireless http://www.cingular.com .

The workaround in AvantGo 5.7 is to sync less data or use our open page feature which allows you to browse only to the website you want to. To use open page follow the instructions listed here: http://www.avantgo.net/demos/tutorial/surfing.php

Forget it.. It was caused by JEYO.
If you run into the same problem, just hit home or back key after saying OK to the error.. It will keep working fine.. comman.exe caused this i guess..

All you can do is.. when you are on the "initial list" just hit left or right with your directional pad. It will scroll from h/w/m/f/txt/etc.....
I hope that's what you mean.. since there actually no way to get number showing up on "initial list" of contacts... hope it helps.

I know what you need, Sony ERicsson phones will show number if you keep holding in that person's name, will scroll the number, but how difficult is it to just hit the name. wink.gif

You need GPS receiver.. what couple of hundred dollars??
You can get the software + receiver for about $200 instead of using additional one or tomtom go for about $800....

there is a service you can spot yourself using GSM but that's not %100 accurate
