I just got my Cingular 3125 about a week ago and immediately noticed an annoying issue with the keypad. When pressing the buttons (mainly on the lower-left side of the keypad, there is what I can only describe as a crinkling sound. It feels like the keypad may actually be flexing somewhat, I'm really not sure. The other issue I found was with the right hinge (phone positioned as if I was going to call someone). If I press down on the hinge it squeaks (and actually moves/bends down). The entire phone creaks with typical handling too. Is this a defective version, or is the phone really that cheaply made?

I appreciate any feedback.

I just modified the headset that came with my 3125. I snipped off the earbuds at the end, and replaced them with an auxiliary input. Now I can use any headphones that I like, and i still have the button functionality on the earbuds. I also have an auxiliary input on my stereo, which i use a male-to-male cable to plug into my phone. The quality is great.

When you cut the earbuds you will have 2 wires in each one (along with fiberous strands that I cut off). VERY IMPORTANT: All of the wires (even the copper ones) are coated with a nonconductive paint. In order to get a connection to your new auxiliary input you need to use fine sand paper to remove the coating. Just connect the wires (it's very easy to figure out which wires to connect), test the connect, and wrap with electric tape once verified.

Yay.

I'm rather curious to find out if this will increase my overall battery life. I'm not sure if this would have an affect on the battery life. My phone would constantly go into a quick search, and then say "home" followed by "cingular". After this update it seems that I have a solid connection to Cingular (no longer going to a quick search, home, then cingular).

I'll post my results.

Unbelievable difference! I'm using Cingular 2125 in the US and the speed of locating a page is instant. It used to take several seconds. This is using the servers suggested.

I haven't seen a post about this, and I always wondered how to remap the camera button to a different program. If you look in the windows directory there are several shortcuts. There is one called SHORT_CAM

If you edit this file, you can change it to point to whatever program you like. The program will then be mapped to the camera button.

Whenever I try to download a cab file directly to my WM5 smartphone it opens to another page showing text for the cab file. Why won't it download the friggin thing?

THanks for any help.

I just got a replacement 2125 phone. I'm assuming it is a newer revision, as it has the modified power button (easier to press as the button is now raised and flat on top). I updated the firmware to the latest version and I am still having the same issues with typing. I can't type very fast, and i commonly have problems when I press the same key over again. It will act as if I have been holding down the key, repeat the pressing, etc.

I remember reading a post that had a link to another forum topic regarding the recent 2125 update. They have a VERY detailed list of problems/experiences with the update. Please post it if you have that link.

Thanks.

I contacted HTC support about this issue since upgrading to the new AKU2 ROM and they are saying they have not heard of it. I pointed them to this thread so if you are experiencing typing issues on your Tornado device (2125, 8300, etc.) after upgrading please check in. The issue I am experiencing is either unlocking the locked device and when typing in Abc mode, not T9 mode. Occasionally it runs away and acts like I'm holding down the same key echoing out ********** when trying to unlock, most times it just gets confused and puts letters on the screen that I didn't type when I try to do multipress in SMS and Email. Adjusting the multipress timeout doesn't really help at all.

I was looking up information on voltage usage for mini sd cards and there is about a 1 volt range ~(2.7 - 3.6). I am wondering if there is any way to modify/control the voltage that the smartphone sends to the card?

This also brings up the question of whether or not some brands of Mini SD drain the battery faster. I have a Ritek Ridata 1 GB mini sd and i only get about 2 days on my HTC 2125...

I know that several users on this forum use fakecursor (from: http://www.geocities.co.jp/SiliconValley-Cupertino/2039/) with their WM5 smartphone. I just can't seem to figure out how to get it running properly. I have seen videos, and read about people mapping buttons to fakecursor (mainly to exit it), but I have not been able to figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Good point...

Anyone having a similar problem that downloaded/updated the ROM several days after its release?

Just a thought...maybe someone should try overwriting the T9 dll files with the ones from the previous ROM.

If you check the about T9 section (hold down * when writing text and go to settings, about t9) it will list the .dll files used by T9. There are four of them:

T9Ime.dll
T9ImePrefs.dll
t9aw.dll
T9Englishldb.dll

I'd hardly call that a fix.....more like a work-around. I have my Multipress time out set to 1/2 second for a reason. I do not want to have to wait a full second before I have to hit the same key again to start inputting a different letter.

I know that HTC did pull the 2125 ROM for a few days, before putting it back up. Has anyone who had the typing problem loaded this ROM? And is the problem fixed? I don't want to have to re-load everything if the problem still exits on the current ROM that is on the HTS site.

FIXED:

In order to fix this problem you need to be sure that the Multipress timeout is set to at leaset 1 second. I always change mine to 1/2 second, and that is when the problem occurs. At least that's how it is for me.

Go to Settings > Accessibility: Multipress time out: 1 second

yes, I have it too on my SPV C600 after this update :-( hopefully they will fix it soon...

Yeah, I thought it was just me, but I am having problems as well. When typing it sometimes acts as if the key is still being pressed down. Keys will not respond, etc. Really odd and annoying behavior...

This is after the recent HTC 2125 update.

How come I cant find the link on the HTC web site... only through the link posted above? Have they not announced it officially?

I have no idea if it has been announced, but the link is the one for the 2125 if you go to the support section:

Also, the image on the page has been updated to reflect the newest ROM versions, etc. They'll probably announce it tomorrow morning.

I haven't notice much of a difference, but one thing is that the backlight goes off almost immediately when i lock the keys, which I really like.

A new file on HTC's website is being uploaded RIGHT now. This looks like it may be the update we have all been waiting for. You will get a corruption error until the upload is completed.

that sounds like a myth i cant see how a flash update can affect your battrey the rom unstructions when flashing allways say make sure your battrey is at least 50 percent when flashing this is due to if your battrey runs out while flashing your phone could be a brick but your statment i cant see that happening m8.

At the same time, there have been many reports that hard resetting your device locks the current battery state as full. When you flash your device a hard reset takes place. It doesn't make sense to me, but that's what people have been reporting...

I've been reading all about how if you hard reset your smartphone when the battery is not full then it will remember that state of the battery and never give you a full charge again.

I flashed my rom when the battery was at %50, and I only get about 1.5 - 2 days on my phone with normal usage. This seems to be about half of what I should be expecting. Have I messed up my battery by doing this?

I'm still within the 30 days that I received my phone. Should I return the battery and get another one?

Thanks.

So, PIE will allow you to download zip files directly, and probably a couple other file types. Now, is there a registry setting that will initiate the download sequence for other file types? Basically file association for a function (the save function) within PIE. I'm assuming that there must be some sort of registry setting?

Which program are you using to watch the movies on the phone? If you are using TCPMP, there is a preamp option under Audio where you can increase the preamp level and thereby increase the output volume.

Perfect! Works great...really loud now. Thanks :-).

I installed the software today, ran great. I was disabling programs, and I tried to kill the battery monitor. I got a warning stating that it wouldn't close, but task manager could try again. I forced it to kill the program.

Now when I run the software (even from a clean boot), all I get are text square boxes in place of the text that would tell me statistics.

I've tried removing and reinstalling, no luck --- same problem.
