Hi For those of you still asking if you should blow up your SP5, head over to www.xda-developers.com and take a looksy at the stickies in the Tornado forums! i dont know if i'm allowed to talk about it here, but, theres a WM6 that im using for Tornado developed by myself, the doctor (from these forums) and a chinese cooker, i prefer the WM6PEE (perfect english edition!) it solves MANY of the WM5 problems you are having! good luck |

hey had same problem a while back. do the following: 1) download official orange C600 update. see if you can get an older update which you can sim unlock 2) use winrar to extract all the files from the downloaded executable 3) enter your phone into the bootloader screen (the one with the three bands of colour) 4) plug your USB cable into your phone, at the bottom of the screen should change to say 'USB' 5) run the 'upgradeut' program that will be in the folder where you extracted the executable to 6) it *should* update as per normal, dont forget, it WILL hang on certain percentages for what seems like aaaaages! dont take the cable out at all! 7) it should have updated and you'll have your phone back! DONT RUN AN UPDATE WHICH ISN'T DESIGNED FOR YOUR PHONE!!!!!!!!! |

Hey I'd strongly reccomend you get in touch with HTC: phone number is: 01908 556 464 i sent my compact II to them last friday, and i've been told it will be posted today to be back with me tomorrow. according to their website, service.htceurope.com, if you click on 'case booking' it says they do deal with the SPV range of phones. but dont book the case online, i'd reccomend you ring them up, the guys there are really helpful. all you've gota do is, print off the tick sheet they'll email you, post it with your phone to their address and they'll fix it! good luck. |

Hey all I recently bought a HTC Charmer (T-Mob MDA Comp II), i got it pretty cheap, (sub 50quid shall we say! I thought this was initially just a loose connection on the inside, as when you insert a memory card into it, it lit up! so, i rang up t-mobile and they said they couldnt help me because i hadn't bought the phone from them, but the guy gave me the number for HTC repairs. rang them up, the guy on the other end told me to print off the tick sheet, pop it in an envelope and send the phone in. this was LAST Friday (16th), posted it out on friday too, they received it on monday, repaired it yesterday afternoon and i'm just waiting for it to say 'posted'! lol. what im wondering is, do they usually issue a quote before repairing or after? assuming before as quite pointless to send it AFTER repairing! i ask because, i had 'lifted' off the 'void' sticker under the back housing to have a look inside it when i got it and managed to put it back in one piece too (use a hairdryer on 'cold' to blow air onto it and use a compass needle to gently lift the sticker off being careful) also, anybody dealt with i-mate before?! took them 2 and a half months (phone sent in september, received back in late november) to repair the joystick on my SP3i! I always thought they used the same people? obviously not! |

Help please is there any easy way to transfer all contacts from my wizard to tytn maybe by copying a database file or something any help.with this would be very much appreciated as I don't fancy beaming each contact individualy thanks in advance hey 'explore' your phone on activesync and look for a file called pim.vol, copy it over, it ought to work. or, copy it first to on your fone to something like pim1.vol and then copy over the pim1.vol file, rename it to pim.vol and replace the one in the root directory, do a soft reset should work! works with my tornado--> magician anyway! good luck! |

Hey all I've got the following two devices: HTC Tornado, and HTC Magician. i LOVE pocketPC now that i've used one! i've got the chance to swap either the Magician for a Charmer (which is basically an m600 without wi-fi if im right) OR My Tornado for a Wizard/Vario/XDA Mini S. I'm wondering which one people think would be best to go for? i hear theres WM6 for the wizard? true? also, i'd like to know what video playback is like on the device, i.e does it HAVE to be overclocked in order to view an uncompressed 700mb AVI file using coreplayer?! also, people who have one currently, are you happy with it?! thanx. |

Hey all found something quite intriguing yesterday, i had to copy my brothers contacts off his '3' sim card onto his new xda orbit, tried pretty hard to get the damn nokia to sync, wouldnt do. decided to try to see if i could copy the contacts off the sim card onto phone directly......popped the sim card in, and it worked! i could even make calls off it, but obviously not a video call! wondering if the orbit has official 3g support? thanx |

Hey all I've got the chance to swap my sp3i for a XDA II (himalaya) what im wondering is, would this be a worthwhile trade for me? the main use of the sp3i is a 'home phone' in that i only use it to call out when im at home (it doesnt go out of the house!), reading ebooks (which is why im leaning towards a PPC -> bigger screen!) and occasionally watching the odd movie whats the xda II like to use (i already have a XDA exec, which im going to sell soon, would like to know diff between wm2003/se and wm5) any advice on this would be appreciated! |

hey I was looking for a similar thing (mini sd extension so i wouldnt have to take the battery off each time i want to take the card out!) but, the reason you want the adapter, sd to micro sd, so you can use a sdio wi-fi card wouldnt work. you'd be able to use storage cards, but i dont think there are any smartphones that support sdio unless they actually have a physical full size sd card slot. not sure on this, someone will have to confirm. which smartphone are you using? |

Hey Have you tried doing a hard reset? (you hard reset by: turning phone off, hold BOTH soft keys in, at the same time turn the phone on, keep your eyes on the screen, a message is going to pop up saying something like 'press 0 to restore factory defaults' press 0 and it will reset your phone for you!) be aware though that you will lose all of your SMS's and any phone numbers saved on the sim card i came across this neat little trick last week, where, you'll find in the smartphone directory a file called 'pim.vol' if you copy this over to your computer, do a hard reset, copy the file back over to your phone, replace the one thats there, reboot and hey presto, all your numbers are back! it looks more like a software issue i think, best to rule this out before sending it off to be repaired! |

Hey Recently i've had to do a number of re-flashes due to a particular homescreen plugin (lcdplug what im wondering is the following: currently, whenever i install any programs onto my phone such as file explorers, ebook readers and task managers, i install them straight to the storage card as to put it plainly, i dont have much free space onboard the 8310 (something crazy like 10mbs, which is nothing!) how difficult would it be to create a cab file that would either a) re-install ALL the programs i require/like in one go, (so that i just run that single CAB and it installs all the software for my phone in one go one after the other without any intervention from me) or to im guessing it would be considerably easier to do the second? i have a *little* coding knowledge with HTML and i've been able to customise my own homescreens but thats the limits of my 'skills' as it were! if anyone could point me in the direction of either creating a CAB file or even if somebody would like to work with me on this, it would be great! as im sure it would be needed! any help with this would be greatly appreciated! |

hey How can i COMPLETELY WIPE the rom partition and flash a new rom to the phone? namely the vodafone v1240 v2.0.9.0 rom. the problem i've had is that i've tried quite a few different roms and i've noticed that some things like the 'alert' screen is the one which belongs to a different rom! would a repeat update of the rom work? (what i mean is, do the Rom Update Utility 2/3 times repeatedly?) the reason for this is the fact that i'm having trouble changing the homescreen! the layout will stay the same as the previous homescreen but the colour scheme will be the of the new one which i have changed it to! and, once i have changed the homescreen, i cant get back to the homescreen either! HELP!!!!!!!! |
