It seems that any applications that I installed to my storage card do not display the icons properly in either the Start Menu or in the HTC Today Screen App Launcher after a soft reset. They always revert back to the default shortcut icon. Then, if I install something or poke around in the Menu settings they magically display properly again. Is anyone else experiencing this? If so, does anyone have a fix? It's kind of annoying, especially in the HTC Launcher as there's no text description so I'm dependent on the icons for knowing what app I'm launching. |

Finally worked for me after leaving it by the window for about 20 mins. Last time I tried I had Wifi and Bluetooth on and it was in direct sunlight, and it got really hot with no fix after 30+ mins. This time I turned Wifi and Bluetooth off and did it at night. Lots of satellites and no excessive heat. Thanks Neil. |

Just did a test on Rogers in Canada. 1039 kbps on a 1mb file. Too bad it cost me about $3 to do that test. Having no GSM competition sucks. |

It may be worth trying this small free application from the Trinity called GPSInfo It needs to be configured, but will show available satellites, and the data being downloaded Just copy to the Kaisers Main Memory, locate the gpsinfo.cab file with File Explorer, and run it to install. Make sure you are outside with a clear view of the sky when obtaining a first fix- can take up to 10 minutes. It's definitely picking stuff up. When I click Start GPS I get a bunch of lines beginning with $GPGSV, $GPRMC, $GPGSA, etc. However when I click the GPS Info tab the Date and Time are displayed, but the Lat/Lon are blank, as is HDOP and PDOP (whatever those are). Status is listed as No Fix. Do I need to check the boxes for VRG or WAAS? |

I've run the QuickGPS download a couple of times now. As for LiveSearch, this is what I'm doing... Menu > Settings > GPS COM4 > Done Choose a new location > Current GPS Position Then bam! After 30-60 seconds I get that timeout message. Should I be doing something differently in here? |

How long did you give it? Mine took ~5-6 minutes to get a fix the first time, even with QuickGPS. I gave up with Google Maps as it only gives the GPS ~15s to get a fix. Live search picked it up eventually. COM4 is the right port for software which doesn't have an 'auto' setting. QuickGPS doesn't seem to have any sort of GPS functionality as far as I can tell, just an option to Download updated satellite info. Live Search just seems to time out on me with the following error: CODE GPS Error Sorry, could not get the GPS position. This happens after about 30 seconds to a minute. I've also tried this SiRF demo app (http://www.sirf.com/free_demo.html) which picks up the device on COM4 in NMEA mode and outputs a bunch of realtime GPS-related text, but doesn't seem to do anything more than that. |

I've read all the GPS threads in this forum, but can't seem to find anything that helps me. Here's the deal... I got the Kaiser model which didn't include TomTom. It does include the QuickGPS app, which I've run and downloaded data from. I've tried Google Maps and Live Search, neither of which can get a fix. I've hard reset my device after poking around in the External GPS settings, so that's not the issue. I installed some app this morning called GPS2Blue (http://users.skynet.be/hofinger/GPS2Blue.html), which seemed to get a fix, or at least told me it was downloading data. I had set it to COM4, as it didn't have an Auto or Intermediary Driver option. So, it appears as though something is working, but I can't get a fix using either Google Maps or Live Search. Can anyone recommend any sort of troubleshooting measures or free GPS software which would at least confirm that I'm getting satellite fixes and the like? This is driving me crazy. |

Since SOME programs would have loaded and run before App Unlock but not others, how can I KNOW that the reason certain software WONT load and run is NOT because I haven't fully unlocked my Lobby. Is there a sure-fire way of telling that it is FULLY unlocked, please? Try using the Microsoft Device Security Manager PowerToy. It will tell you exactly what state your phone is in. There's a good explanation of how to use it here. |

I couldn't agree more, and was just about to create a post about this. Does anyone have a solution? I've begun using Orb (www.orb.com) religiously, and it's virtually useless with WM6. |

I've applied the new ROM to my phone, and it all seems good. It fixed the problem I was having with my carrier (Rogers) where it wouldn't pick up the time/time zone properly from the network. I'm wondering though, does anyone have a list of fixes/updates that are included in this ROM? |

Well, in case anyone cares, I found a great repair shop in Toronto right on the subway line which fixed my phone in about 2 days. Was a little pricey ($50 for the service and $85 in parts), but beats sending my phone to Germany for warranty repair. www.ic1.ca |

Hi. I purchased a Qtek 8500 through a US reseller a few months ago (I'm in Canada). Obviously, this was not a North American sanctioned purchase. Over the last couple of weeks my phone has started acting really wonky. It freezes up randomly, averaging once a day. A couple days ago it wouldn't turn back on. I'd removed the battery for awhile, removed SIM and microSD, replaced battery and nothing. Left it sitting for a few minutes, and when I came back to look at it about 10 mins later it was magically powering itself up. Very strange. At any rate, it seems more and more like it's a hardware issue at this point, so I'm wondering if anyone's aware of a North American (preferrably Canadian) repair center that can take care of this for me. I paid a fair bit for this phone when I purchased it, and would hate to see that investment go down the tubes. Also, it's a fantastic phone (when it works that is). Can anyone help a brother out? |

W00t! Just tried it out and it works! Did an Exchange ActiveSync (no changes) and it logged 7.9KB. Looks like we finally have a solution. |

Just got an email from Efficasoft... Sorry for the long wait – we are pleased to tell you that your “clamshell” is now fully supported by our Smartphone GPRS Traffic Monitor! The cause is that this "Clamshell" line Windows Mobile Smartphone (Cingular 3125, SPV F600, Qtek8500, Dopod S300, iMate SmartFlip) establishes GPRS connections in a completely different way than others – this is very individual and hence prevents the program from monitoring. We have especially built a special version v3.51w of Smartphone GPRS Traffic Monitor to target the issue. It is available for download at on our website at www.efficasoft.com, as well as a comprehensive “How to Use” guide. Please note that this special version shares the same registration with standard versions, which means if you purchased Smartphone GPRS Traffic Monitor before, you don't need to purchase again, and if you change your phone in the future, you may still use the special version registration for standard versions. Please have a try, and I’m sure you will be pleased! If you need any further help, please feel free to contact us at support@efficasoft.com! Haven't tried it out yet, but figured I'd let everyone know. |

Another bug... If you go in your contacts, press "Menu" with the right softkey and select "3 send contact" (or something similar, I use Italian language). The software allows to send contacts only by IR! How can we send a contact via BT?? Select Beam instead of Send. The phone doesn't have IR, so "Beam" refers to Bluetooth. Odd, I know, but that's the way they've done it. |

Create a new key (since it is non existent after installation): "HKLM\Software\Spb Software House\GPRSMonitor\Profiles\1 connectionentry=Swisscom GPRS > String Value, where "Swisscom GPRS" is the name of my GPRS connection" Unfortunately this key already exists for me, using SPB GPRS Monitor SP1, and is set to the right connection... however it's still not monitoring the connection. You said you were using this on a Qtek 8310... it seems something's changed on the 8500, as it's just not working. |

what problem do you have with SPBs GPRS monitor? I have that and also have a weird problem, when I goto the section to select the connection to monitor there is no option to say "select" the action button does nothing and the prog acts as if you didn't select a connection (which you didnt) is this the same prob your having? gR That's the problem I had with the non-SP1 version. With the SP1 version that SPB sent me I am able to select a connection to monitor, but it doesn't actually do anything. No matter what I do over GPRS it always shows 0 kb usage. |

I'm looking for a GPRS Monitor solution that actually works on the Qtek 8500. I've tried both Efficasoft and SPB, and have even received a beta SP1 copy of SPB's GPRS monitor, but none of them work. Has anyone had any luck with thsi? |
