Sorry guys to keep you waiting. I guess many of you are tired of seeing the black background on the iconbar...colors it has been, and colors it shall be!

I have the update ready. You should now be able to change the background and any of the notification icons you want. I hope that shall give some room to the long standing artists amongst us.

Instructions and download available here: http://shadowregistryhacks.blogspot.com/20...plugin-v20.html. Enjoy!!

great work Rinku

replace these images w/ whatever you want:

a) Start Menu: Chome_Start_background.jpg
cool.gif Phone dialer screen: PhoneBKI1_Port.jpg, PhoneBKI2_Port.jpg

They're in the Windows folder. Just make sure the dimensions are the same. Have fun.

im not using any program to delete the files. i just access the files thru the finder and delete em. and thanks for the recommendations!

oh that's because when you delete files through the finder, it goes to a recycle bin for the micro sd card. To completely delete the files, you'd need to empty the recycle bin. You can do this by simply emptying your computer's recycle bin. Hope this helps. Have fun.

For the future, you can also just delete files through the explorer program on the phone directly instead of going through your computer.

are you using resco explorer to delete the files because it has a recycle bin so you'd also need to delete it from the recycle bin to really free up space.

I also have a mac and currently use Missing Sync to sync my info although the mount feature is currently broken on Leopard. If you don't want to use your card reader (which is probably the fastest way to transfer files), you coud also use WMStorage 1.8. You can get it from here.

You could also try SyncMate. I don't know if it works now though (it wasn't working before w/ smartphones but they just released a newer version) but it's free.

Have fun!

Haven't tried the cab but you can do this:

1. First, you will need to download a Registry Editor to help you do it...
2. using the Registry Editor, navigate to: Code:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Inbox
3. Create a New Key and call it "Settings"
4. Click on "Settings" and create a New String Value
5. Call the key "SMSNoSentMsg" and give it a data of "1"

You might need to restart the phone

Have fun.

Midian, just wondering when we can expect you to make this hack available?

the question is whether there's a hack. I would sure like to see the myfaves interface and maybe use it. Not interested in the free calls since I currently have enough minutes and I see it as cheating Tmobile. But anyways, if anyone has a hack to get the myfaves interface, I'd really love to try it. Thanks.

so I have edited the whole theme to instead use his new background. I have attached this theme. Just follow the same old instructions. Copy blue.scheme.xml to Application Data/Home and copy all the other files to the Windows folder.

To change the comm manager screen to blue, look at the last two posts.

Finally, I haven't changed the icons so you could use badbob001's method to change the icons if you prefer! However, it'd be really nice if hamsuplo could upload his icons. Have fun

A few screenshots of the theme:

I took a quick peek at your zip and noticed you used the background with the shadow on the side. I can post the original wallpaper without the sides if you like.

yeah, that'd be cool.

I have edited most of the brown stuff in the background to blue (new notification icon, caller background, wmp skin...). However, I'm still trying to figure out how to change the comm manager background (some guy at xda developers did it and I'm awaiting a response). However, here are the files I've done so far. Add the blue.scheme.xml to /Application Data/Home and the rest to the /windows folder and replace when asked. You could back up original files first if interested.

I didn't add the icons however. I'm guessing humpsolo would do that later.

humpsolo, I hope this is cool with you. If not, let me know and I'd take it down.

You could also use Paul's cab file available over here: http://www.modaco.com/content/Daily/255032...arch-to-Google/

It keeps the homepage the same in ie but when you search, it searches google instead of windows live. Obviously, that's only for searching google though and you'd have to use the above oted method to change the homepage to something else.

FYI...can't say for voicecmd.exe as I actually use it, but syncmanager.exe will eventually start back up on it's own. I have also deleted the startup link for it but when I open up Celetask (3rd party task manager with processes tab), it's there. It may speed up the reboot process but unfortunately it will start back up later on and stay in memory. sad.gif

I wonder how you can disable myfaves cuz it's always in my task manager also. my5msgcenter.exe, myFavesService.exe

Very nice work! You've really pulled everything together well, thematically and graphically.

As for your question about Comm Manager. I've found that it's background is stored within the program itself, as is the case with My Faves, and a few other programs. You CAN change these, I just don't think it's a good idea necessarily since you'll have to use a resource editor to change these items.

What you said is probably accurate but some guy at xda developers changed the color of his comm manager background. I just asked him for how he did it and I'm awaiting a reply. Here's the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread...549#post1700549

Come to think of it, you started the thread over there. Oh well!

you could also just delete voicecmd.exe and syncmanager.exe from the /windows/startup folder so they don't startup with your phone. This is obviously if you don't use voice command. syncmanager syncs your phone addressbook with your tmobile addressbook online.

I just double checked the zip and it looks like all the basic files are there. Only thing I can think of that could still be brown is the textglow image, which I have attached on this post. It's basically a complete transparent image as I thought the text glow didn't look good even on the original theme. Please note that the files I posted are just for the home screen. I haven't done much anywhere else (ie, start menu background, in-call background, etc.) If I do, I'll definitely post them.

If there are other traces of brown that I am not aware of, let me know or post a screenshot.

Yeah, could you please attach the images. It's obvious you did additional work on them since you needed to make inactive ones also. I downloaded them from iconaholic but it only comes with the actual icons and not the inactive ones. Great theme! Thanks.

Has anyone figured out how to prevent myfaves and voicecmd from starting up?

I removed voicecmd from the startup folder but when I check my process list, I still see VoiceCmd.exe, myFavesService.exe and My5MsgCenter.exe. I'm pretty sure if we could disable them, the phone would even be faster than it currently is.

QUOTE(wazmo @ Nov 18 2007, 12:37) *
I have found that Media Players on the Shadow are seriously challenged, and I'm looking for some solutions. I am coming from an SDA and MDA, and I didn't have these problems with those devices. My library has close to 2,000 tracks encoded in AAC format.

Here's what I have run across to date:

(1) Windows Media will play the tracks, but it takes hours for it to process the library, and in shuffle mode it takes 30 seconds or more to play the next track. AVRCP works to switch tracks, but still has the latency issue.
(2) CorePlayer 1.1.1 takes a few minutes to process the tracks, and it takes 8 to 12 seconds to switch tracks. AVRCP also works, with the same latency times.
(3) PockePlayer: I can't seem to get it to shuffle, and it also appears to be response-challenged.
(4) TCPMP 0.71 works fine in shuffling, but AVRCP doesn't work.

One thing I'm tempted to try is to switch the format into WMA to see if the media format is a causal element.

Somewhere I recall seeing some posts about identifying what is in the startup and removing processes to try to improve performance. I'm also looking to see if there may be some registry hacks that may ameliorate the above issues.

I also had the exact same issues. However, all my files were in .wma format so I went ahead and converted them to .mp3 format.

(1) Coreplayer 1.1.1:- works very well with mp3 (I'm not sure about AAC) but completely sucks with wma (it skips after about a minute). It is also fast and only takes about 1-2 seconds to switch songs. Also, AVRCP works well (without skipping) with mp3 files but has the latency issue (it just stops working after sometime. I wonder why)

(2) Windows Media is horrible on the shadow. In shuffle mode, it takes forever to change to the next track and with AVRCP, the music goes blank after sometime. It also has the latency issue.

(3) PocketPlayer 3.2: I hated myself when I tried this player. It is dead slow (almost unresponsive) on the Shadow and when it's running, the phone becames very slow. AVRCP also didn't work for me and also, disables AVRCP on both WMP and CorePlayer when it's installed.

(4) TCPMP 0.81 :- Was very good with all types of media. However, AVRCP doesn't work on it cuz it uses the Widcomm Bluetooth Stack.

Therefore, till there's a registry hack, I'd recommend converting all your media to mp3 and using CorePlayer. The only issue was the latency of the AVRCP.
