Well it IS an unofficial battery, maybe you'd be better off with the official one?

P

Any idea when that's due to land?

See the following XDA Developers thread

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread...0995&page=3

Apparently, it knocks out the GPS.

Have received mine but not tested that yet. If this is true, it's going back, and the phone is going on ebay as this is truly ridiculous, I put up with the rubbish battery life in anticipation of an extended solution, but if this doesn't work ... then I am going to a Nokia E71!

Does Onebridge use some sort of custom connection or proxy? It may be that Voda IT don't allow the connection. Does you Mobile Web use the same connection?

Irrespective of onebridge, the internet is not accessible either which leads me to believe there is a more fundamental issue of general data access whilst roaming which I would assume there must be a setting for somewhere.

There are a few things to check

1) Make sure you are connecting to an Italian service that has a data roaming agreement with your UK operator.
2) Make sure in ActiveSync/Menu/Schedule that 'Use above settings while Roaming' is checked. You should still get a data connection even if not checked, but you never know!
3) Find out if the Italian operator was having technical problems. I've found in Italy and Slovenia that sometimes the data component is just not present for a few hours at a time.

1. UK operator is Vodafone and in IT the preferred network is Vodafone IT
2. Don't use ActiveSync for email synchronisation, use a product from iAnywhere called onebridge
3. It's happened on 3 occassions now, all different days ... would be too much of a co-incidence me thinks!

There must be something, or some setting somewhere that isn't picking up a data roaming change ....

Have a look at your connection settings, and compare them to the "official" settings for your network in the UK. Also, can you browse the web? It could be a problem with your mail server instead of the connection.

Yeah, have found that I can't surf the web. Very odd as the settings are the same as for my old touch dual. Shouldn't be a problem, but is ...... ???????

Interesting, received an email from Expansys this morning saying mine had been despatched (but, sounds like some landed this morning, so, wonder if it was despatched last night or this morning!!!) ... very excited to get a way of cleaning the finger print magnet!

A UK / Euro targeted ROM update won't flash on a HK device will it?

P

Paul, I have absolutely no idea! I'm a mere novice to all this flashing business ;)

All I know is, that I am a tad unhappy at the performance and bugs with the WWE edition that I have. A few of the tweaks work, and some have no effect at all. If someone could walk me through a ROM flash I'd give it a go, but it scares me a bit that I may brick my device!

Over at XDA they have a version of the European ROM but I think I'll wait and see what happens with the UK device ROM's. See if there are any improvements.

Didn't expansys get in trouble for selling grey imports before? I think I read something over at coolsmartphone about it.

I raised this with Roger Butterworth, CEO eXpansys, and discussed the issue over the phone. He has promised (and I have it on an email!) to put any ROM updates on the Expansys website as and when they materialise. Will hold him to that ... I have his email and mobile ready just in case he doesn't hold up his end.

That's exactly what I've found. It's very shiny and is fun for stomping on all those iPhone applephiles out there, but it does slog every now and again.

I'm similarily interested in a neat solution, my software skills aren't up to much (hardware designer you see...)

There are some excellent fixes for the 3D TouchFlo lagginess over on xda-developers. I've installed the main one and it's made a huge difference and the device is still working absolutely fine. It veritably whizzes along now.

Hi, ever since the time change on Sunday morning, my Touch Dual has repeatedly been setting itself to GMT+1 (Prague etc etc) despite repeated attempts to set it to GMT and manually adjusting the time.

What's the problem you might ask ... well, it mucks up my diary!!! When it changes it resets all the times of meetings to -1hr before their scheduled time.
mad.gif

Anyone else experiencing this???? Or, better still, a permanent fix!!

Many thanks, M.

Uhm... that's strange. Can you post a screenshot of both devices?
Check the homescreen settings under Start -> Settings -> Home Screen. Probably two different themes are set.

Hi, no they're identical setups in terms of the settings / home screen etc.

I tried taking a photo, but it didn't show the difference.

Is there a particular file (application data/home) that might have the theme in it that I can simply copy across??

Thanks, M.

Ok, this is a bit odd. I now own 2 E650's that have been un-oranged courtesy of the de-brander and fixer (highly recommended by the way!).

Now, looking at both devices, the blue 'default' theme looks different on the two devices. One is a darkish blue and the other is a much brighter blue.

Has anyone any ideas??? I quite like the darkish one and would like that on the other device. What file do I need to copy across between the devices?

Thanks!

I've just bought an e650 to run as my personal phone (I have an S710 for work) and just went to the imei-check website. However, their security certificate flagged a problem on my browser, none the less, I continued to the page, entered my imei and it didn't do anything. Anyone else experienced a problem?

M.

OK, THEY HAD A PROBLEM WITH THEIR SITE, EMAIL FROM THEM. NOW FIXED, AWAITING MY UNLOCK CODE.

I've just bought HP Ipaq 514 (510 series) and I wonder if somebody found a solution to following issues:

 - I cannot set the VoIP client to connect to my SIP VoIP provider. There is no documentation or error messages around this, it just says "No service" for whatever I try. Is there some diagnostics?
 - Somebody managed to install Skype on this device?
 - Somebody managed to install other T9 dlls?
 - Is there a soft which can reassign HW buttons to some useful apps?
 - Is there a way to let the WiFi auto-connect every once a while? (There is a pretty convenient timeout to switch off WiFi when there is no netowrk for some time, but I want the phone to periodically switch it on for a while to check if Iam within the range again)

In addition to this, I would like to know if there is a way to remove the rubbish Cyberon Voice Commander software in preference to MS Voice Command 1.6.

Thks ... M.

In response to mjt2810's original post - it never does appear in Programs IIRC, only in settings - you need to use the 'Buttons' applet to map a button to 'Voice Command'.

P

Hi Paul, thanks! I have now managed to install it, and assign to the camera button. Thing is, it only works once ... after that, whenever the camera button is pressed it just beeps.

Same problem??

You can install HTC Phone Pad on the Touch. You can download the .cab by searching for "PhonePad.rar" on google. should be the second one.
Don't know if it's allowed to upload it directly here or post the direct url.

Screenshots from another user using Phone Pad on the touch:

Looks good smile.gif

EDITED: OK, should check google for advice on how to use RAR file types first!! Working now ...

OK, so, I am having some problems with my new Touch. Have installed tonnes of apps and all work well, but now, I try and install Voice Command 1.6 (for PPC) and it comes up with an unrecoverable error. I have tried to restart, reload etc, never works. Any ideas anyone? Left the details on the Touch forum, but it looks like I'm the only user there so far .... no views!!!!

OK, just started to load up my new shiny and very usable Touch. Everything is going on well, and then I get to installing Voice Command v1.6.

It goes through the installation routine, and right at the very end ... POW! "An unrecoverable error was encounterd during installation. Please reset and try again".

Then ... the cab installer says it's installed! I can't see VC in the program list, but I can in the settings. So, I reset, remove and re-install ... same message!! mad.gif

Any ideas folks????? rolleyes.gif
