Great thank you, but I have another idea, because I don't want to destroy my original headphones.
I want to buy the motorola miniusb/jack 3.5 adaptor like this one:

or this one + jack

than I want to open the miniusb connector and cut & sold skills, but I dont know the SPL connectors.

Can you tell me something about this project?

Marco

shame, I had bought connectors for motorola AND HPC something, but trashed them as they were useless.
one thing I can tell is official motoroal usb to phone cable charges the SPL fine. I'm doing this right now with a colleague's cable

yes, it is a valid solution.
just have to find which wire connects to which pin.
I could try to find out. what would be really cool, would be to make a connector that charges and allows headphones at the same time. but I doubt it is possible. (5pins: 1 common, maybe 2, 2headphones (left and right), 1 microphone)

I think my solution fits my needs better, I as I can make use of the microphone for calls too, rather than just listen to music.

If I had to do it without cutting my original headphones, I'd rather start from scratch. you may need to get thermoshrink sleeve to make it look ok-ish. the motorola connector doesn't have much lenght, it may make the process uneasy, + if you badword up ....

Can you post some pics or scheme for this mod? Thanks

here you are:
http://spl.fotopic.net/c1237139.html

RED wire goes to copper side of the connector
GREEN goes to steel side of the connector
Both ~grounds go o middle (underside of the connector)

Yes, I am a micro-electronics engineer, but it is so easy, just soldering skills.

Have fun

battery life isn't that good
plus if you're concerned about that, do not turn on bluetooth ... now I understand why it doesn't have wifi...

>Not being able to use proper headphones with it is a real pain

you can. I did it. I'ts cheap (99p connector at Maplin). just requires 10 min (cutting original cable, stripping insulator, soldering to new connector et voila ...

Had to do my own. not very complicated.
cut the original headphones.
solder a 3.5 jack from Maplin on it.
easy. works well. cheap.
only problem: the phone switches to headset by measuring low impedance of headphones. so it works with my headphones, but doesn't if I put a cable to my hifi...

Or you couild have linked to the story ->

http://www.modaco.com/i-mate-expand-SPL-ra...33-t251974.html

The WM6 hacked ROM for the Universal has been reported as being much faster than WM5 ROMs

sorry. saw the news on the front page, but couldn't find WM6 as well on it.
I really hope a little bit of speed can be gaine. This phone's nice, but a bit slow.

I cant find anything referring to this...can you post a link?

http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2007/02/12/i...lor-wm6-to-spl/

shots of the phones bearing Windows Mobile 6 Standard, and while no announcement is being made at 3GSM regarding available of the re-upped OS on this particular device, we reckon it's a good sign for the future.

but, will it be in any way slower???

OK, found out why.
When the phone is rotated right, (volume bouttons facing up) a slight tap (very gentle) near the battery will turn the phone off.
The same happens when I leave the phone in my jacket pocket start running, or go over a nasty speed bump.

There must be something loose inside the phone or inside the battery. Could anyone try it, just to see if it is my phone or all SPLs?

Hi.
My cute new phone sometimes switches itself off. for no apparent reason.
battery full, keypad locked.
I've posted a thread on expansys: http://www.expansys.com/ft.aspx?i=139937&a...ad=6&page=1
as I told them I tried soft and hard reseting the phone.
They suggested I return it, but I like it, even if it start annoying me, and it seems to be the only phone close to what I want.

Any advice?

Thanks motin. That is very good information.
Which sources?
How can I see my ROM number. Ok found it.
I have 104. but I have installed lots of 3rd parts that work. only some won't work. the one that require app unlocking

I have had the phone for a week, and really like it.

only thing, sometimes I had the phone switch off on its own for no reason (even with key locked)
was it a bug, or something?
