I'm on my second (Orange) Touch Dual. The first one started making 'static' sounds/noise whenever I made/received a call.

However, my new one has been perfect (touch wood!).

Hey Paul.

I know you posted this a long time ago, but I am experiencing a very similar problem with my new HTC Touch Dual on Orange UK.

I have only had it for 2 weeks, and the 'noise' has only been occurring for the last week - but is getting worse.

However, I don't hear the noise, but people I speak to do! It comes and goes, but sometimes could last for up to a minutes, and is very very frustrating.

I have just spoken to Orange who recommended I take the handset back to the Orange retail shop and have it replaced. This is annoying, but I will be happy to do so if it cures the issue.

However, it is very strange that you say it continued to occur for you with different handsets.

I had a similar - but no where near as bad - issue a few years back on Vodafone UK with a Motorola SLVR. That time, 'I' heard the noise.

Anyway, could somebody please offer any advice.

Many thanks!

How do!

I appreciate this is probably more of a WM6 question...but, I am having great difficulty finding info on how to have my Hotmail emails 'pushed' through to my HTC Touch Dual. (I can access them through Pocket IE obviously).

Ideally, I'd like them to be automatically retrieved and display via HTC Home - as my Google Mails are.

I had the same problem with WM5 on my MDA Compact III, but never got round to finding out how it can be done.

Do I need to upgrade my Hotmail account to a premium account to take off the restriction that MS place on it (or similar)? I'm happy to pay for it, but would prefer not to have another program to do it (I tried Pocket MSN on my MDA III, but only Messenger worked).

I've read that Windows Live apps come as standard on some HTC Touch Duals/WM6 devices - but not on my Orange UK one.

Also, is there any way I can change my home/today screen 'soft keys' - default showing "Calendar" and "Contacts". On WM5 is was possible under "Settings>Soft Key".

Any advice would be great!

Many thanks.

Yes, you need to use the stylus to text. Its a pain in the arse! I can cope with it most of the time, but if I'm out and about and need to send a quick text, it isn't easy - especially when you're p*ssed!

When I first got it, I looked for an app that would display large 'normal phone-like' buttons on the screen so that I could text as-per-normal with my thumb....but never found one.

So far (7months-ish) - that is the only drawback of the MDA Compact III.

I wish they supplied a clip on keyboard (or similar) like the Sony-E's P900 series.

(Just realised how long ago u posted...this reply may be too late!)

Forgot to reply to this.

Pocket MSN is not on the supplied CD. It is a link to the MSN Mobile website where you can download it for £10.99.

Anybody discovered if Hotmail app works yet?

For a couple of weeks now, the F-Secure software on my MDA Compact III has been displaying the following error when attemptig to update and/or scan:
______________________________
(Title) Ant-Virus.exe

A native exception occured.

ExceptionCode: 0x80000002
ExceptionAddress: 0x00ff83238
OK to terminate
CANCEL to debug
______________________________

OK'ing or CANCEL'ing end the application/update/scan. I have attempted unistalling the software via add/remove programs using ActiveSync, and manually by browsing to the F-Secure folder and deleting it...but am unable to do so as the files are in use/read-only/not accessible.

Please advise.

(Note: the software was working fine - scanning/updating - for a week befor ethis occurred).

Apologies for being so hasty. I have since managed to remove the software. In hind sight, I should have figured it out sooner - I had to launch the app and quickly exit it before it attempted to update and crash. Once exitted, I could remove it via ActiveSync.

Cheers.

This was in a thread for another device... maybe worth a go as they are both wm2005

http://www.coolsmartphone.com/news2266.html

I have done the above and managed to get MSN Messenger on my Compact III (cheers)....but is there any way I could get Hotmail on there? (Apologies if this question is constatntly being asked elsewhere). If not for free, would the software work on the Compact III (with T-Mobile) if I paid MSN the £10.99?

Many thanks.

How do.

Even when my MDA Compact III is on silent/vibro mode, each time a call is ended (or more likely when it is ended by the other person first), the device beeps 3 times. I have been unable to change this via "Sounds & Notifications", and unable to locate the wav/wma file (as I could just delete it). That said, I haven't had time to go through all the sound files in the \Windows directory. I considered it could be a system beep - sounds more like a sound file.

Could somebody please advise on the filename, and/or a way of disabling this.

Ending a call when in a meeting and having to muffle the sound in my jacket pocket is not ideal! wink.gif

Many thanks.
