I know your message is old, but I wonder if you (or anyone) could elaborate on how to use the voice tags via a BT headset and the 3125. There's nothing in the instructions for my headset regarding making outgoing calls at all, much less being able to use a voice tag. I have a Plantronics Discovery 610.

Thanks,
Cinnamon

OK, like lots of you, I've been disappointed, nay angry, at having bought ANOTHER HTC phone from Cingular that didn't have a voice dialing function despite it being advertised. angry.gif (my first was the MPx200, which never was fixed - Cingular still owes me $300!) angry.gif

Many have found it hard to get a Voice Tag into the beast, but this seems to be an issue that can be solved by finding a lower ambient sound level, and/or insuring at least one 'hard' consonant in the Tag word.

Great, I can record Voice Tags, but can I use them?

Well, if you follow the directions in the Cingular Manual, very carefully - No

Here's what it says (from Page 150)

"On the Home screen, press and hold the VOLUME down button on the left side of the phone for two seconds."

In the Getting Started Guide, this is expanded upon a bit (Page 13):

"When the flip cover is opened...press and hold the Volume Down button to launch the Voice Tag feature."

Do either of these, and all you get is a lowered volume on the earpiece.

Bummer

Look out Cingular, I'm feeling a little Postal ninja.gif

but...

If instead, with the flip open, you QUICKLY press the "Comm Manager" button...

Tah Dah!! It opens the "Recognizing Audio Tag" alert Dialog. A couple of seconds later, you get the "beep" and if you speak your Tag, it dials!!! or launches!!!!

And BTW, the voice Dialing/Launching works just fine over my Moto HS820 Bluetooth Headset.

So, the hardware works fine! biggrin.gif

Someone forgot to read and TEST the manual in galley proof. Almost makes me want to dig out the old MPx200 to see if just maybe... rolleyes.gif

Hope this helps!

I just got a 3125 to replace my MPX 200 (loved that phone). Got it unlocked, got BT headset and am playing with it to learn the ropes for it.

Every review I've read said that it doesn't have wi-fi, however, the .pdf manual refers to it in a couple places, i.e: "When the GPRS and Wi-Fi connections are turned on at the same time,..." . When using my phone at work the network status shows 'E'. My MPX 200 used to a show a 'G' (definitely no BT or Wi-fi).

Sorry if this sounds dumb (not really a gadget geek), but I'm wondering if the phone is detecting the wireless point (Exchange Server). If so, can I use my phone for web access without being charged by my phone provider?

Thanks

I had upgraded my phone to WM 2003 a long time ago. I liked one of the original WM 2002 ringtones, so I got a copy of it and put it in my phone. The ringtone stayed just fine and was used for a couple of years.

I successfully unlocked the phone with these instructions, however, ever since I unlocked it, it resets my ringtones. I reverted to WM 2002 to unlock, then upgraded (agaiin) to WM 2003. After unlocking I copied the ringtone over to my phone again. It accepts it and works fine - until I restart the phone. Then it deletes it and sets an entirely different tone for the ring - which I can't hear. I've missed a bunch of calls.

Does anyone know what is causing this and how I can fix it?

Thanks,
Cinnamon

As they have 2003 this may be the issue, most people SIM unlocked before upgrading to 2003.
If you can find a 2002 ROM it may be worth downgrading to see if this makes a difference.

I just had great success with the unlock kit. First I rolled my phone back to 2002 - so not sure if the 2003 would have worked. I ran into the problem of the ???? button being unavailable and tried a dozen things with no luck. Then I went to my XP sp1 laptop just to see if the problem was sp2. Sure enough - it worked exactly as as the tutorial said-not a single hitch.

Thanks Rasoul, biggrin.gif

Has anyone been successful using this unlock process with a 2003 upgraded MPX200? If so, was there something different you needed to do to accomplish it?

Thanks,
C
