QUOTE(Dead Cell @ Aug 11 2007, 12:51) *
Guys just upgraded my Orange i600 to WM6. Thanks to XIPPON and everyone else involved in making this possible.

Everything seems nice and fast but I'm having one big problem which is bugging me and I thought I should mention it.

I use a software called HTTPMail Provider 1.5 which allows me to access my hotmail account. On WM5 along with POP and IMAP, HTTP was also made available thanks to this software. But since upgrading to WM6 and installing this software again, I am no longer able to select HTTP because it doesn't exist ohmy.gif

The PPC version of this software works nicely on my HTC Touch which is also a WM6 device but what am I doing wrong here!

Just in case you don't understand what I mean, I'll explain...

When you select NEW EMAIL ACCOUNT in MESSAGING, first you enter your email address etc, then you select the EMAIL PROVIDER, and here you select INTERNET EMAIL, usually only POP and IMAP are available under ACCOUNT TYPE, but after you install HTTP MAIL PROVIDER, HTTP should also become available, so that you can use Hotmail. But it doesn't work, and all you see is POP and IMAP!

This works brilliantly on WM5 and I was wondering is there any way I can go back to WM5 should I not find a solution to get this software to work on WM6?

Any help would be greatly appreciated so please help me out here.

Regards and thanks in advance.

D.C

Thinks it does not work as WM6 has quite a bit changes on the PocketOutlook side.... (see the HTML Mail reading, more handle on WindowsLive and more on Exchange mail)

Thanks to you and D for the solid reply and confirmation. Tahnks all. I am ready to upgrade, but one last doubt. Will TCPMP work with WM6. TCPMP is a video player

Yes I confirm TCPMP runs correctly, better than it was in WM5 (There was a bug which makes the homescreen acting strange uner WM5... and now in WM6 problem seems gone)

Ok, no luck on the phone side, lets see how this updater do checking....

Opening the updater exe i600UXXupdater.exe (90.5 MB (95,001,535 bytes)) by tools like exeScope, we see the rsrc, forms, alert, header and diff resources in the exe...

by extracting a binary in the i600UXXupdater.exe under BINARY>158 (222 KB (228,344 bytes)), which seems to be an app on i600 side to let it goes into bootloader mode as the following screen
http://www.samsungmobile.com/promotion/i60...howto_img14.gif

the binary is actually a exe for SP, transfer it into your i600, I tried running it with my default region, no luck, so switching to Dutch(Netherland), and it did run asking user to hold 2 buttons as the above screen, 2 seconds later, phone reboots..

Afterwards I get to the bootloader screen on the i600, I am stuck at this point here where my XP side claims found new hardware, but fails to go ActiveSync (I suggest it is my XP problem, it does have problem on new hardware from time to time...)

*USB Downloader - Open v1.1

USB Initial: OK.
PC Connection : FAIL.

[Phone] Active OFF
[PDA] USB Cable Power OFF

and the updater on XP side complains active sync error (not connected)....

Anyone who did the update, can you confirm you get a black screen with text on screen says "USB Downloader - open 1.1"?
Can anyone please post more details procedure on steps during the update? (loading ROM)
Can anyone please post more details during the upgrade?

is almost 2am here, sleepy.............anyone wants to continue on the hack?

Little bit more thinking, as other suggest, ActiveSync from Samsung must be used for the upgrade, may it be related to the current problem XP side cannot connect to the device? as I am running M$ officials ones? (The FAQ of upgrade points to M$ officials ActiveSync 4.5 site anyway...)

Hum............can I please ask did you unlock (applock) your i600 yet? I can edit this field and in the version it does show phone version i600UXXGC4 after the change (Of coz I will suggest, if machine is resetted, it should get back to org. setting i600XXGC4)....

I am currently at work so I do not have the cable to try it out yet...

But wonder would this do the trick?

\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\State\MITsMan\SWversion to i600UXXGD1 (or G Whatever your version is.)

Use at your own risk, as I stated, I do not have the cable with me and I haven't tried it yet...

Wonder anyone notice or have discussion on this issue....

The PIE that comes with the i600 GC003>+ (no idea on 003- as my i600 comes with 003) is actually very similar or same to the ones that comes with the WM6 on Dopod C730 WM6 releases, I can confirm basic AJAX works (XMLSocket works, but very limited DHTML, especially limited CSS style of DIV layout)

I have a personal media stream server to work with the i600, was base on HTML only due to limited support of AJAX on prev. PIE WM5, and now the AJAX version works good on the i600!

just my 2 cents.

function sendxml(xmlurl, func)

var http_request = false;
try {netscape.security.PrivilegeManager.enablePrivilege("UniversalBrowserRead");} catch(e) { }
if (window.XMLHttpRequest) {http_request = new XMLHttpRequest(); if (http_request.overrideMimeType) {http_request.overrideMimeType('text/xml');}}
else if(window.ActiveXObject) {try {http_request = new ActiveXObject("Msxml2.XMLHTTP");} catch(e){try {http_request = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP");} catch(e) { }}}
if (!http_request) {alert('Giving up, Cannot create an XMLHTTP instance'); return false;}
http_request.onreadystatechange = function() { func(http_request); };
var parameters = PARA_GOES_HERE;
http_request.open('POST', xmlurl, true);
http_request.setRequestHeader("Content-type", "application/x-www-form-urlencoded");
http_request.setRequestHeader("Content-length", parameters.length);
http_request.setRequestHeader("Connection", "close");
http_request.send(parameters);
}

Confirm this works.... rolleyes.gif

ive just found this quote below here http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb278115.aspx

"AJAX
Windows Mobile 6 has an updated version of Microsoft Internet Explorer® Mobile that includes the XML DOM and javascript support required to run basic AJAX applications. This allows you to leverage your existing ASP.NET, XML, and javascript skills to build rich browser-based applications that run on Windows Mobile 6 devices."

So does this mean i would need WM6?? if so, can the I600 be updated to run WM6?

Has anyone had any luck using SmartPhoneTurbo ?
It is supposed to overclock xscale processors but the error message indicates that I have a TI omap.

Maybe the phone needs app-unlocking ...?

Or maybe the App needs a little bit update? thinks these apps do first check Machine ID/CPU type first, which maybe (Maybe....) the ID was not coded in the app when it was dev?

Anyway I rather like an under-clock program than a over-clock, save some juice when low CPU power is needed... wink.gif

Hi,

I been using graphite for few days, im not impressed with the performance/speed of the phone, it dont seem that its got 416Mhz cpu inside it, my imate sp5 is similar performace to graphite, when i overclock my imate sp5 to 240Mhz it runs faster then graphite.

does anyone else performance issues with it?

I too have SP5m (Asia version Dopod 586W) and Graphite.

There is no way the 586W can compare with the Graphite, in most case of CPU intensive work, example EMUs, Graphite does show difference..
But I suggest others like display (Especially when showing Chinese Chars with ClearType Fonts on), loading from storage is still a bottle-neck of the speed issue...

And I also notice that when trying to accessing files in phone by activesync on PC, Graphite give way better response over the SP5m.
