There should not be any need to install any GPS "unlocking" applications. The only reason you should need to install any GPS related hacks is if you need to map the intermediate driver to a COM port (because your GPS program doesn't support the intermediate driver). Windows Live, Garmin, Google Maps, TeleNav, and many more, all support the GPS intermediate driver. As tamanaco described, getting a signal in a sunny day was hard, then in a cloudy was fast. This can always happen. Remember, getting a GPS signal is not at all like getting a cell signal. The satellites are very far away, and somewhere in the sky. Getting a signal depends one where you are in the world, where the satellite is currently at (they move!) as well as current air conditions, if your moving, and basically anything else you can think of. I still advise against installing GPS hacks unless you know you need a COM port. |

Ya know how on TV or in ads they sometimes say "send a text message to 12345" or some other short number like that? Those are setup by the carrier, and that's what the built in IM (OZ messenger) uses. Text messages, and it is specific to ATT's codes. I would like to note though, that you are missing out on NOTHING. OZ messenger has a huge delay in messaging, you're better off either getting another program (I recommend Palringo) or if you really want to use sms for AIM, setup AIM forwarding on the aim website. |

I wouldn't. I'm not certain on their exact functionality, but I once deleted some of the default startup items on another WM device, and wound up having too do a full reset to restore a few things. If you wanna try it out tho, simply backup your stuff, then move them out one by one and see if anything stops working. I'd recommend against it though. |

In order to connect over bluetooth, simply connect to your desktop over activesync, and ensure your desktop's activesync's configurations are set to connect to "The Internet". Also note that sometimes you have to manually ensure your device cannot connect over its GPRS connections. |

No. As has been discussed, the Blackjack II does not have WiFi and is unable to connect to the internet through WiFi networks. You may use wired connections through your PC, Bluetooth, or your cellular carrier via 3G, EDGE, or GPRS. |

I don't know the full technical details, but as I've posted around here before, CoPilot's listing of the BJII as "compatible" is incredibly misleading, and I have made it known to them that this is very dishonest. However, they seem to not be a very user-conscientious company. In the end, their product does not work with the BJII's GPS and from what I've gotten out of them, they do not plan to release a compatible version until at least version 8, thus requiring you to buy a new version. If I were you, I would contact the place of purchase and hope they'll refund it. ALK probably won't help, but if all else fails, fight it as far as you can. If you can garner enough users, a class action would be great to teach them a lesson, but I doubt there are enough BJIIers out there that also purchased CoPilot 7.... |

I'm not entirely sure on this, but I would say they both do the same thing. The fact they both state "Formatting - Please wait a moment" is probably the indicator, but it is possible. It really couldn't hurt to do what Samsung instructs, but in the end, I think they just say this way because if they tell people "Press the up button while turning the phone on" some people just won't get it. This is more clear cut for the majority of users. |

Doesn't matter if you can find a program to display the percentage or not. It will always display it in 4 intervals because of a bug in the system (25%, 50%, 75%, 100% -not exactly those, its a crazy bug, but something like that). The only way to see the exact power remaining is in the power settings, or by pressing and holding the CV button. Don't count on a fix from Samsung. I've contacted them numerous times asking about an update to fix the numerous problems. No matter what I ask, they always say "Windows Mobiles 6.1 is not available for the Blackjack II." Samsung is NO help. |

To enable the Internet Sharing application, use the following link: http://verizonwireless.howardforums.com/sh...mp;postcount=23 (Install the second cab link on that post, reboot your phone, install the first cab link) I can't confirm if that works with Vista or not though. Also, I forgot to mention about my earlier post, using only the ISP settings, you'll have your device assigned its own IP address, but you won't be able to access MEdia NET, CV, and other ATT services. The MEdiaNet with Proxy settings use a shared IP address (behind a proxy), but allow access to all ATT services. |

Use ONLY the following setup/configuration: Start - Settings - Connections - GPRS: MEdia Net (delete any other connections!) Connects to: The Internet Access Point: wap.cingular Username/Pass: (leave blank) Auth Type: CHAP Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0 Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0 IP Address: (leave blank) Then go to Start - Settings - Connections - Proxy: AT&T WAP (delete any other connections!) Connects From: The Internet Connects to: WAP Network Proxy: wireless.cingular.com:80 Type: HTTP Username/Pass: (leave blank) There is only one other possible variation that would work: Start - Settings - Connections - GPRS ISP (delete any other connections!) Connects to: The Internet Access Point: isp.cingular Username: ISP@CINGULARGPRS.COM Password: CINGULAR1 Auth Type: CHAP Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0 Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0 IP Address: (leave blank) With this set, you must then go to Start - Settings - Connections - Proxy and DELETE ALL PROXIES (or reconfigure them to not map to the isp connection). Hope this helps. |

Yep, I told them it says compatible on their website, and requested they explain how that isn't false advertisement. They stated "the program is compatible, the gps is not." I really wish I could hire a lawyer.....a good one....oo well, we'll just have to deal with it... |

I just contacted CoPilot. They state that there is no fix for the Blackjack II, and that if they do fix it, it will not be released until CoPilot 8. In conclusion: Do NOT buy CoPilot for your Blackjack II. |

Ah yes, the animation is in a dll file, that would need to be repacked properly. There are editors that might be able to modify the images in those dlls, but I've not tried. Perhaps I'll look into it sometime soon and let you know.... |

Actually, that's an easy one...you know the hacks used to remove the startup/shutdown sounds? Simple use your own custom .wav files and overwrite with them instead...should work |

Blackjack II doesn't (by default) store text messages on the SIM Card. It's just a bug with something Garmin tried to do that isn't working right. They'll probably fix it sooner or later...but remember you don't need to delete the text messages, just move them to a different folder. |

About the first issue, here's some things that might help: Do you have JBED java installed, or are you still using TAO? TAO will not work (but I'm assuming there's a different message for that?) Did you install JBED to the storage card, or to the main memory? - Try the one I posted on the other thread, even though its heavily outdated, and post here if it's working. About the buttons, mapping start menu items is only possible using AE Button Plus, unfortunately, and it doesn't seem to work with mscr files wither (though using the autorun.exe included in mortscript works to resolve that problem). |

matteandhue, I plan on releasing a new version very soon (probably this week). The new version will have a "Create Opera Mini Start Menu Shortcut" feature which will run a sophisticated/dynamic Mort script of mine. Dynamic because it is not bound to a certain JBed app ID, but rather checks for that ID at run-time. HOWEVER --- I will also add another function (under a menu called "Tweaks / Hacks"), which will parse through JBed apps and allow you to selectively add a shortcut onto the start menu for any JBed app. This function will NOT run my dynamic script but will rather use the old method and create the shortcut straight to jbed.exe and pass the s?_ app ID. I believe this is exactly what you were looking for. For Opera Mini, here's the code I had in the launcher for that archive: CODE utf_file = ReadFile(RegRead("HKCR","jarfile\Shell\Save\Save Location","") & "\selector.utf", 0, "utf") counter = 0 ForEach line in split (utf_file,"^LF^",1) counter = counter + 1 If(Find(line,"suite=Opera Mini, \")) prog_line = Part(utf_file,"^LF^",counter+3,1) prog_line = Part(prog_line,"=",2) prog_id = Part(prog_line,",",1) jbed_params = "-DFile.maxStorageSize=20M -run " & prog_id EndIf EndForEach Run(Part(RegRead("HKCR","jarfile\Shell\Open\Command",""),"""",2,1), jbed_params) ...if it helps any... |

Garmin Mobile XT is the only Garmin application that you can use on your Blackjack II. Once you have Garmin Mobile XT installed on your phone, you can connect it to your computer and use Garmin City Navigator NA NT 2008 to manage the map data that is available on your phone. It will show you a map of the states available, and you simply click on the areas/states you want installed. I wound up putting only the eastern states on my phone from FL to Maine. Just remember you must have valid activation codes on both your phone and computer. |

I really hope I didn't start a quarrel on these forums. I was just sharing everything for knowledge to everyone. I apologize if I have stirred things up. -matteandhue No, you did nothing wrong. If JZ SmartMort has more of an issue with me after what I said, we can talk via PM. Aside from that, I would like to request this thread be locked by any admin/mod who sees this. As indicated by my above edit, this thread has served its purpose, and is no longer of use. |
