Thanks for the replies. The phone doesn't go to G2 automatically, it just loses its connection when the signal is poor. If We try changing the network manually it loses its Internet connection.... I'll get onto Orange and see what they say... Thanks again Liz |

Hi all The reception on the i780 is worse than chronic in the house, it drops calls, muffles them so you sound like your heads in the wardrobe, and misses in coming calls altogether by just jumping right to answer-phone. My own HTC Touch (on 02) has fantastic coverage showing - and getting - maximum signal strength anywhere in the house. I did check Orange coverage for our area before buying and it was shown as *excellent*. Humph ! I've been told that turning off G3 will improve the i780's reception. Could anyone tell me how to do that? Thanks Liz |

So here I am, I have my PAC code from Orange and was all set to go to O2/Vodafone and sign up for a tytn II. (Upgrading from my M3100) (Background - Great data tariff on orange unrenewable apparently, and no Tmob reception) Then all this stuff about the video drivers and lag on the touchscreen comes out. Do I just get myself a new battery and live with my hermes on a sim only contract for a year? It is the comments about how it performs worse than the Tytn that worry me. I would settle for a Tytn with GPS and a bit more memory. As long as the Tytn II is at least that, I will go for it. Please please please remove these doubts from my mind ....or if it worth going sim only for a year as there is a tytn III coming then let me know.....(Have not heard of any such phone) Hi I'm glad this came up as we're in the same position. I just got the Touch last month and its great, I love it. Now my husbands contract is up and he's been looking at the Touch Dual. When I rang o2 to cancel his contract they pointed out the faults and suggested their own Xda Stella, which I *think* is the Kaiser in a different dress. So my question is two fold 1) is the problem that bad? (he wont be using video, but needs the phone to be quick in day to day operation) and 2) Is the Stella the same as the Kaiser? if so, will it have the same faults? Any help/advice appreciated Thanks Liz |

Er, nope! Sorry Presumably your on Vista if you're using Mobile Device Centre You could try deleting the Partnership on the device (Activesync, Menu, Options) and try attaching again. I seem to remember one of the guys on SmartphoneThoughts.com having the same issue - it might be worth checking there to see if he found a solution or has other things he tried. Thanks! Funny thing is, I found out by accident that if I connect the touch *before* I turn on the computer - it connects, and continues to connect each time. If I turn the computer on first - it wont connect at all. Crazy. Esp as there was no problem previously.... |

Hi I've had no problem with syncing since I got the touch in December. But today - out of the blue - I connected the touch, and its not connecting. No error message, just showing in mobile device centre as *not connected*. Tried everything from rebooting both PC and touch, to changing the USB. There is some connection as the phone is charging. Its the Ted Baker Needle one if that helps. Any ideas? Thanks Liz |

[quote name='conan_troutman' date='Aug 6 2006, 14:23' post='756902'] as I am not on contract or probably never will be thhis is the best i can make of what I feel are the correct settings for contract please compare them to your own first. also if you phone o2 customer services and tell them you have a XDA IQ they will help you manually install the coorect settings in the right place so if the menus are the same you can get set up that way..... as for not recieving any MMS messages from your friends get them slapped and tell them youo want more sending a funny jpg or gif always brightens peoples day. Thanks Conan, those are the setting I have so I'm now hoping that when 02 activate MMS I will be up and running.... I'll be sending MMS messages to all and sundry (just for the hell of it) when I get it working! I'll drop by and let everyone now how I go on asap..... Liz |

Are you installing them as a cab file? No I'm putting them in manually. Everything is working now - except for MMS If so you'll need to software unlock your device before you can do it. Not even thought of that yet! Thanks for reply Liz |

Scroll down to required entry and press menu brings up *advanced* I clicked that and then entered the details. Cont see any other way to do it....... I'm off to start from scratch... So will get back this evening with results - hopefully posting from the Qtek!!! Fingers crossed. Liz |

Great - installed, and it's working. However, I think it's causing a bit of a bug in my C550: whenever I want to answer an incoming call or end an outgoing call, it takes a very very long time - 10-20 secons. Most of the time, this means that the caller hangs up or is put through to voicemail. I'm going to email their support and see what they say, because it really is getting to me now. Doing the same on my MPX220 - calls take ages to answer or end. Is this a known problem - anyone else finding this? Will you post back if you get a reply from the support? Ta! Liz PS got the cheque last week - thanks. |
