will this work on an Orange (UK) TyTNII?

..Ran Hard SPL first
..Ran the above ROM update

All working fine, it auto-detected i was on Orange and offered to set the correct network settings for me.
I've reconnected it to my exchange server and all seems to be working fine so far :-)

i'm tempted to do it, but might have to wait till after lunchtime so that I've had a beer for courage :-)

If it turns into a paperweight, is there any way to recover it?

Paul - Absolutely Brilliant - thanks dude

I now not only have a phone that works acceptably (unlike the way you receive it from Orange!), my TomTom is now working again (only just noticed last time i needed to use it that the device code had changed, v0.5 of your software fixes it perfectly).

Oddly I didn't have to contact Tomtom at all when I swapped from my C600 to my E650. I just copied it from the original SD card, allowed it to activate via WiFi and it worked.

I suspect mine might have done the same if i'd first installed my original maps rather than my newer European ones blink.gif

I've currently got an SPV C600 running TomTom 5.200,

does this verion of tomtom work fine on the 650? - are there any issues moving it over? - i guess i'll have to get tomtom to issue me a new unlock code..

what happens to tomtom if you slide the keyboard out? - does it change to landscape?

does the newer tomtom 6 work on this phone?

well to answer myself now my 650 has turned up biggrin.gif ...

I copied across TomTom 5.200 & maps of western europe on to my new MicroSD card,
tried to activate it using www.ttcode.com which accepted my new device code and gave me an authorization number which failed!!

then e-mailed TomTom for their help, and provided proof of upgrade (due to my C600 breaking) - and they are nothing but awkward; they take forever to respond, then need more and more evidence that what i'm doing is kosher even though i provided proof of the new phone in my 1st email along with my own serial numbers etc, and my copy of tomtom and maps are definitely legit as they are linked to the email address I'm using in their system (were bought through their website & registered with them..)

anyhow, after another 48 hours of them ignoring me, I've found that if I install my original GB map that came with tomtom as opposed to my upgraded GB map, then the activation code from ttcode.com now works, then switching back to upgraded maps suddenly works also!! - I'm glad it's all working, but tomtom's customer service is awful, i can see why so many people don't bother to obtain this software legitimately!!!

anyhow, tomtom 5.2 works just great.. - if you slide the keyboard out, the screen does not change to landscape, and the keyboard works for some letters, but some letters appear as numbers, so I'll ignore the slide out keyboard for this application, it works just great they way i used to use it on the C600...

will probably do a new windows mobile 6 version next now that my SPV E650 has turned up rolleyes.gif

just got my E650, installed our exchange server certificate,
went to sync everything, but the "mail format" option is greyed out, and i only get text based email sad.gif
i thought wm6 was supposed to support nice HTML mail - any ideas how to turn this option on, do you have to have exchange 20007 rather than 2003????

found somebody doing a smartphone podcast application:

http://www.equin.co.uk/ipoddersp/

very "alpha" at the moment (crashed a couple of times) - but this has loads of potential..

mentioned here: http://www.msmobiles.com/news.php/3486.html

Ok, I have read nearly every post in here and am very close to buying TTM for my C500 but I have a question that I don't believe has been answered (apologies if it has)!

In early posts it stats that the TTM will only work with the TT BT receiver and later a work around was made by renaming your gps receiver to the same as the TT one would be called.

My question is, will the TT BT receiver work with other gps software, like CoPilot or Mapoplis?

Also, which version of the TT BT receiver comes with TTM?  I have seen TT receivers 1/2 & 3 on eBay and don't know the difference?  Are they all compatible with C500?

Oh and one more thing, our of the main GPS sofware systems, which is the better for navigation on foot, i.e, around the streets of london etc.?

Thanks
Mark

got my tomtom mobile today for my SPV C500....

BT receiver is: "Model TomTom Wireless GPS (9821x )"
(SiRF XTrac chipset)

i tried it today with mapopolis - works fine when set to Com7 4800baud....

ok, now i've got my SPV c500 and a large mini-SD card i'd like to find some podcasting software - is any available for the smartphone?

If not, my usuall RSS reader will auto-download enclosures and put them in a folder and generate a playlist of my choice, but still need some software that will auto-copy the mp3's to the Smartphone when Activesync runs??????

If you pull apart your cradle for E100/200/SPV you will see that is actually a mini usb plugged into a circuit board to convert it to serial. Sadly, I threw mine away before I realised this

hmmm, just tried this on your advice and my PC re-set!! (you sure the pin-out is the same? the affect i saw would suggest i just pulled down the 5v (probably to ground!))

When I start it (in advanced mode, to see wether Cell ID changes or not), the cell id is on 0. Even after about half an hour it doesn't change.
Unfortunately people at mobilOK support couldn't help me so far. 1.01 and 1.02 worked until I registered them. 1.03 fails even there.

since a couple of days ago, it's been playing up again (since i changed my "silent" profile a little) - still waiting to hear back from mobilok at the moment :-(
This software all worked fine until I payed for it

mine stopped working when i upgraded from 1.01 to 1.02 and registered at the same time...
the fault seemed to be that the Cell ID's were not updating properly.
doing a uninstall - reboot - install of v1.03 fixes :-)

i see that the tool is interesting you just as much as me - good to see ;-)

what i hate is the fact that it has the same problems in switching profile like every try before had: once you lock the keys it can't fully switch and stays stucked in profile selection. same experience like i had with xbar and the makros to switch profile and the smart watcher. i don't believe there is a workaround for it but who knows.

cheers, lutz

It's fixed - handango and smartphone.net now have version 1.01 which changes profile when the handset is locked biggrin.gif
