It would be a bummer to see the emulation scene fade out. I don't think I'm the only nostalgic person who can't program out there. I am very appreciative to the programmers who had, for years, given us a way to enjoy the games we grew up with. As years pass, the games of nostalgia will be the newer games of today. Hopefully, there will still be those who will keep all the games of yesteryear alive. It will probably find its way commercially. It might be cheaper to keep a copy of Windows XP around as a dual boot system than to find newer emulation programs. Still, it's nice to have these games on my phone to occupy time while my wife shops.

It has been five years since MameCE has last been updated and 1 1/2 years since PocketCultMame has last been updated. Being an owner of a Palm device as well, I have noticed a more recent update to a portable version of MAME called PalmMame. It is based on MameCE and a source code is available to anyone who wishes to port it back to the Windows Mobile platform. While I do not own a Smart Phone, I noticed that the Smart Phone crowd on these forums seem to enjoy games and post quite a bit on emulation. I have no programming talent whatsoever, but wondered if anyone with such talent and love for nostalgia would be interested in porting this back to WM. PalmMame works with sound and functions better than MameCE or PocketCultMame (no intended disrespect to the authors). Vilmos, who works on this project, has given the green light for anyone to port this back.

Just in case anyone is interested: http://www.pocketdimension.com/PalmMAME.html

If anyone does work on this, hopefully you might include a non-Smartphone WM5/6 PPC version too. Those who love classic gaming would be eternally grateful.

If memory serves correctly, both SNES and Gameboy had Monopoly. Just a thought. Hope I'm not breaking any rules by saying so.

<br />Thanks for your feedback.<br /><br />I briefly looked at Super GameBoy support and it didn't seem to offer much. How many games support it and is it something useful that I should add?<br /><br />Thanks,<br />L.B.<br /><br />
<br /><br /><br />

Way back in February, I asked a question and just realized that I didn't respond to your response. I don't know other features Super GameBoy had to offer, but for the Game and Watch Gallery (1st one), it made the games in color whereas without it, the games are in black in white. Further, the games have a frame that makes it look like the original Game and Watch games. I actually remember when those games came out and for nothing more than sentimentality, would like to see those games in color and maybe with the frames (which would unfortunately make the game screen a little smaller). I don't know how much more effort it would be to implement this feature or if it has any other feature that would make it worth your effort. I know that the GameBoy module for MorphGear has it though the program is a little unstable on my phone.

<br />For my own spending habits, I feel that $10 for a Desktop PC + Pocket PC + SmartPhone version with unlimited upgrades is pretty fair. Does anyone think the low price cheapens the product? Is there anyone on the fence about buying it and would make the plunge if it cost less?<br /><br />Thanks,<br />L.B.<br />
<br /><br /><br />

I think it depends on what you can get for that price. $10 for software won't break anyone's back since anyone who is interested has a device (computer or PDA phone) that had a higher cost. Considering your target consumer (probably uses PDA phones and computers more than the casual user) is probable aware of freeware alternatives for some of the systems emulated by SmartGear, the question is whether you can effectively communicate that your product has an advantage (aside from being an all-in-one emulator) over these alternatives. For myself, I'm looking for a SNES emulator and a MAME emulator that will run well on my 8125. Yes, there are freeware alternatives, but they do not seem to run well even with overclocking to 273 MHz. I'll be keeping an eye on this program and a review from Menneisyys. By the way, does your Gameboy Color support SuperGameboy with its color emulation and frames? Thanks.

Best to you in your efforts on this program.

I actually spoke too soon. I followed all the steps and the app still will not run a ROM. File&gt;Open ROM and the app closes. Any ideas?

I have an 8125 as well and I'm running into the same problem you are as well. As a matter of fact, a number of these programs are either starting up and has a weird screen before the app closes or the screen will grow black and freeze. All these programs are written for the smart phone. Does this mean that it won't work on a WM5 PPC? Perhaps I'm installing them incorrectly. There doesn't seem to be an installation process, so I'm dumping the program into my storage card and running them there. I thought the storage card was the issue, but I wasn't able to get it running installed on the device. PocketNester 0.7 is working fairly well right now. Is there a way to get these programs on this forum working on an 8125? Thanks.

Thanks for this program. It works on the HTC 8125 as well. I have it linked to my Bluetooth so when I say "Time", it will give me the time.

I was wondering if it was possible to have the program funnel the time through the Bluetooth headset? I tried to toggle the Bluetooth headset to remain on while I use this program, but the headset will toggle off the Bluetooth when I use the Voice Speed Dial to access the SpeakingClock program.

This would be a nice feature for crowded areas where one can't hear the speaker from a distance or a crowded room where discretion is needed.

Thanks again.
