thought that was gonna work, but comes up with an error; "critical comunication services failed to start try resetting the device and then connect again." i got that msg when i turned off my firewall, i tried to ublock that file but didnothing so totally "dropped my pants" and i got that message???!!!

I suspect async has not added the requisite info to your firewall. This happened on one of my laptops. Three of the .exe files were added but not the fourth. Just set your firewall to allow everything for every .exe file in program files/microsoft activesync. I think it was ceAppMgr.exe that was missing in mine. Weird, cos it worked fine on my other laptop which runs the same AVS.

Can you be more specific? Have you just upgraded your version of activesync for instance?

How is everyone's battery life? Mine seems pretty poor. 36 hours and it needs a charge, after maybe checking emails twice, and sending 10 or so texts...

At night, and most of the day in fact whilst at work, it is in standby mode, with the clamshell closed.

Orange's website claims a standby time of 10 Days! Also a talk time of 5 days, anyone got anywhere close with this?

I don't have wireless enabled, but do have bluettoth on..

Any other tips to improve battery life? I would hope Bluetooth doesnt affect things that much.

I know, but my Tomtom software is on SD (genuine), I'm assuming there are legal issues in copying it to a mini-SD.  Although it sounds like I should be considering this phone further, in general it sounds better suited to my needs.

WOW my Pocket PC is fast! I just bumped into an old registry tweak that I have yet to use o_n Windows Mobile 2003. A foreign site todopocketpc had mentioned this and I was surprised I had not used it o_n my new install. o_nce I applied this reg tweak I immediately saw a difference in how fast my Windows Mobile Pocket PC responded. Today plugins load faster my Games folder loads faster. Its just an overall better experience. I would highly suggest backing up your Pocket PC before you try this as playing with your registry can cause problems if you do not know what you are doing. Protect your Pocket PC BACKUP!

If you need a registry editor, you can find a free o_ne at http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/regeditce.shtml

1. Open your registry editor o_n your Pocket PC
2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\GDI\GLYPHCACHE\
3. Change the value of 'limit' from 8192 to 32768
4. Close registry editor and soft reset.

I've just received my M2000 this morning and am so far really liking it, I have a couple of question that I hope somebody here will be able to help me with.

1) How can I change the battery without it loosing all the data, and then having to allign the screen, and reset the time and date.

2) Can I set a mp3 as a ring tone. The not so helpfull Orange manual says copy the file into the directory windows\rings, I've donethis but the it doesn't show up when you scroll through all the different ringtones.

Well as the saying goes, u cant have your cake and eat it.. so either easy writing with ? instead of ' to receipient, or manual deleting of the ' when the appear...lol..

Sometimes when i sent an sms, the message sent envelope stays there till a soft reset.
Any idea why??

I agree with you on this actually - it's annoying. I think something like you find on MP3 players would be good...a "hold" switch, so that you can put it into standby and then flick the switch, and it disables the keys....would be useful.

I often put my hand into my pocket and accidentally press the button, and then the calendar or contact button gets pressed, and then the call button and I end up making calls to people I didn't mean to call!
