I went ahead and disassembled my phone again and reseated the connections and now it works! The connection that wasn't pushed in quite far enough was the one that connects the LCD to the phone, just under the RF board. Now I have a phone that can not only receive calls but make them too!

I bought my screen for $49.75 from seller superpc168 on ebay for those looking.

I found a patch over at xda-developers and it's all sorted now smile.gif
Needed a new sms_providers.dll file as well as a sdkcerts patch (both in CAB form)

Cheers for the help.

having not got a suitable cable

is it possible to get my m5000 to do the same?

have both disappeared from the phone app
on my M5000

I have no idea when as I did not notice til
I needed them

I'm with orange and at last hard reset killed the
extended ROM by soft resetting - is this likely to be
the cause?

I hadn't even entertained using the video calling til
orange told me I would have 1gb pm of data foc
for three months

but the smartdialler is essential - I used to use
intellidialler on my M2000, but am loathe to install
it til I've found out what happened to smartdialler!

anyone know where to look?

cheers

well - I plumped for the M5000 seeing as
orange retentions only wanted £14.99 for it!

still ironing out some problems (wifi, smart dialling)

but so far I love it - especially the build quality!
I don't mind the size or weight because it feels
so well made! puts the M2000 to shame

keyboard is so ergonomic
camera is superb
voice command over bluetooth rocks!

overall v. happy

tho I wish I could sort these few probs out

cheers all

hello

managed to get a M5000 from Orange as an upgrade
despite recent shortages - delivered next day - wow
and for £14.99 from retentions!

have been having much fun setting it up
including getting voice command to work through
bluetooth - at last the reason to have a PPC!

a few troubles tho

1. have placed my custom ringtones in wav, mp3 and wma format
in both \windows and \windows\rings but none cannot be seen in
sounds and notifications! those that are there (fantasy, mystic, gig etc)
are listed twice.

2. the smartdialler has stopped working and the smartdial option in menu
is not either

3. cannot connect wi-fi. IP address assigned nicely by my router but when I
start pIE etc I get offered the settings page. Hitchhiker finds the connection
then crashes.

4. the top right corner is not consistent with my "theme" which is guava bubbles
( have tried to make my own theme as I did successfully on my M2000 but
cannot get it to work yet ) in either portrait or landscape. vBar options do not
alter this

I have the following progs loaded:

MS voice command
sprite beta backup
hitchhiker
skype
PHM reg edit
.NET CF 2.0
PPCProfilesPro
vBar (Vieka)
SBSH Pocketbreeze demo
SBSH iLauncher demo

+ some games

would appreciate some help

thanks
