I wonder if anyone can help me with this... I bought a pair of HP Bluetooth Headphones for my XDA2i, and so far (using the modified Broadcomm patch,) I have managed to pair them with the High Quality Audio Profile and listen to music fine. The problem is that the player function buttons (play/pause, next, and previous) don't work. I have an increasing suspiction that it is because WMP10 doesn't recognise these commands, as the headphones function buttons apparently work fine on the XDA2s, which has WMP9. So can anyone either make a patch to fix this, or give me advice on how to solve it myself? Any help much appreciated. HaZarD |

I am wondering if there is anyone out their who knows how to map the buttons on the HP Bluetooth Headset so that they operate WMP10 controls? It works on WMP9, and I have no idea where to even start looking for this. Is there anyone out there who can help me with this? Any hints on how to do it myself would also be much appreciated. It just adds High Quality Audio and Bluetooth Keyboard Profiles so the headset can be paired. Icy |

Ok, so this isn't strictly a Magician question, as I have an XDA2i, but I think the software is very similar. Bascily, I already have these headphones, (HP Stereo Bluetooth,) I installed the modified Broadcom patch and I can hear perfect quality sound through them. The problem is that the player function buttons, (play, next and previous,) don't work. I can only change the volume of the headset. I know there are people who have got the headset to work along with function buttons on the Blue Angel. The only thing I can see that is stopping the buttons from working is a possible incompatability with WMP10. (?) Obviously the Blue Angel doesn't have this, but the Magician does. This is why I was wondering if any magician owners have tried it. So can any of you guys help me? Thanks in advance. HaZarD |

I have the Writeshield C2 but I couldn't find a way to put it on without getting a load of bubbles in the middle of the screen. How did you guys do it? HaZarD |

I've had no probems with the bluetooth as such with the 2i, it seems to connect instantly to all my old devices. WLAN is the same. Yes the camera is dodgy, but only in low light or very bright light areas. Many people think its a software problem rather than anything else, so it should be fixed with a ROM update. Personally I don't really see any advantage the 2s has over the 2i, unless you really really want a keyboard. I certainly don't want one, which is really why I went for the 2i, cos it makes the device massive, heavy, and gives it that one extra thing to go wrong. HaZarD |

I have an XDA IIi and I'm very happy with it, but your question seems aimed only at people who have both devices. (?) HaZarD |

NB. I expect the camera is a software fault, to be amended with a ROM update. Does anyone else here have a 2i and can commend on this? |

It a shame, apart from the camera its a fantastic device with none of the problems the XDA IIs had as far as I can see. |

I've heard of some pieces of software for the XDA IIs/i that allow you to browse through files in your home network. Can any one suggest some to me, or tell me where to get them? Thanks in advance HaZarD |

This is just a question to the moderators, but are you going to make a forum for the HTC Alpine (XDA 2i) any time soon now that it had been released? HaZarD |

Personally I wouldn't bother with the keyboard. The IIi has more than enough to compensate for this loss in my opinion. 520mHz processor 1.3 MP camera Windows media player 10 Bluetooth 1.2 I think you will be able to get a VGA backpack for it too, which is a great plus. Also, the keyboard maybe good, but its just that one extra external thing that can break or go wrong. And if I bought one, knowing my luck, it probably would. Up to you, go for the one with the keyboard, or the one with the stuff in the list above. I'm just voicing my (clearly) biased opinion. HaZarD |

QUOTE(fraser @ Jan 5 2005, 16:33) Thanks Paul, but I'm not quite sure if that's correct. A google for that project name only threw back XDA II, HTC QTEK 2020 and i-Mate Phone Edition references. Seems to be a previous model. I'm pretty sure the XDA IIi is the HTC Alpine, and most sites referring to "XDA III" tend to be talking about the XDA IIs, HTC Blue Angel or M2000. (You really think they could come up with slightly more creative names wouldn't you, maybe to prevent all this cryptic name confusion.) HaZarD |

The Orange staff were completely inflexable with me, they kept asking for £299.99, (upgrade fee + handset) and wouldn't budge even when I asked for my PAC code and got put through to disconnections.
I actually did end my contract after trying a few times, but I put my number on some random Tesco pay as you go card, and then I'll take up a new contract with Orange and use the PAC code from Tesco. I end up having to pay about £119.99 on a £25 a month contract, but hey beats £300 eh? |

Have you tried using Pocket DivX Encoder and Betaplayer? I used to use TmpgEn and PocketTv, but found these 2 programs to be a lot better.
Its a lot easier to define the properties of the video you're encoding, it's simply a case of moving sliders around. |

I mean GPS (Global Positioning System). I've read that people have had problems getting this to work. What is an Access Point name anyway? And is GPS dependant on you having an O2 contract?
And do O2 pay and go simcards work without unlocking the XDA? |

I am thinking of getting an XDA II/Qtek 2020/I-mate but there are a couple of things I want to know before getting one:
Does GPS work out of the box? If not what do you need to get to make it work? What is the average battery life with/without expansion? The emulators that have been ported to mobile devices, particularly pocket SNES, how well does this run on the device with its higher processor speed and ram? Also, is it possible to unlock an O2 XDA II without actually activating the O2 simcard? If you buy an XDA which is locked to O2, can it use pay as you go O2 simcards out of the box? Cheers |
