T-Mobile provide the backbone to Virgin IIRC, hence why the network display is showing that.

Strange the SMS aren't getting delivered tho, definitely sounds like a network issue. Have you spoken to Virgin about it?

P

Thanks for the reply Paul. I'm popping into town tomorrow so I will ask at the store and see if they can help in me out in any way.

Hang on, this is soooooo spooky...I have just received a text while answering your reply to say that a text I sent to my friend today has been received. Finally, exactly one week later I think the problem is over! How weird is that! Must be your magic touch! Or something else! Who knows! biggrin.gif

Cheers Paul. I am happy now.

Hi all

I take pix on my s710 all the time. The problem I am having is when I go to My Pictures to view a pic after a couple of seconds the screen changes back to my homescreen and then times out. What do I have to do to make the screen stay on the photos when I am looking at them. When I show someone a pic I pass my phone over and the pic has gone and they see only the homescreen.

Thanks

JS

EDIT: I think I have kind of sorted it. Messed around with the Power Management settings and the homescreen timeout and the pictures are staying on view for longer now. smile.gif

Hi,

I am on Virgin and seem to be experiencing difficulty sending texts to the orange network. Even tho I am with Virgin my Vox shows T Mobile UK on the homescreen. I can send texts to other virgin users and T Mobile users but I am not able to send to orange. The texts says its been delivered but then I get a system administrator message saying it couldnt be delivered. Just wondered if anyone else was having this problem.

Many thanks

The red/green/blue screen is the bootloader. If this comes up either the software is corrupt or a key is stuck down on the side of the phone ( usually the camera button IIRC).

Try 'lifting' all the side buttons with your finger, put the battery in and see what that does?

M.S

Nope, no buttons are stuck down MS. I am not seeing the red/green/blue screen anymore. That was happening just before I got my new phone and put the Lobster away for a couple of weeks. Its just a white screen and nothing more. I just connected it to my laptop again but its not detecting the phone at all. It wont switch off by the on/off button at the top so I have to pull the battery out and then restart it which only shows the white screen again. Once I know how to open it up without damaging it I will take a look inside. Thanks for your reply. smile.gif

Hi Mysterious Stranger

I did connect the mobile to my laptop yesterday but the sync wouldnt recognise/connect to the phone. Originally, the phone did start acting strange a couple of times, it would be ok then would then just show red/blue/green lines on the screen. When this happened I would have to reboot and it would start ok again. Yesterday when I got the phone out it started ok but then the screen flickered and went white. I could only turn it off by removing the battery and when starting it up again there is nothing except a white screen. So, I will see if I can manage to take it apart and take a look to see if I can see any loose ribbons or anything. smile.gif

EDIT: Um, I am having trouble getting the phone apart. I undone the four funny little screws on the back but then after that was done I actually used brute force and all I can see is the front of the board which is attached by a ribbon. Luckily, I have tried this out on my totally broken one first but I know its not a wise move to now go ahead and do the same with the one I want to try to fix. Is there by any chance a step by step guide anywhere to show me how to take it apart?

Many thanks

I dunno awarner..maybe getting in touch with HTC would be the next step. I'm just a bit peeved that I may now have to pay out goodness knows how much just to get a few photos off my Lobster and the pics might disappear during repair anyway, if they haven't already. Thing is I did buy another Lobby off eBay a while back for about £16 as a backup so I am not without a Lobster. Plus, I have a spare one to smash apart if need be as I broke my very first one accidently. I think this has made me realise just how important it is that I should always back up my pics and stuff....just incase of unexpected problems like this ..... rolleyes.gif

How odd to see you have written exactly what I was about to write awarner. My Lobster got put away a few weeks back when I got an HTC S710 but today I just got the Lobster back out because I wanted to take off the photos which I had stored on it. Booted it up and it did start but then zippppp nothing but a white screen. Changed the battery as I had a spare...nothing. All there is is a white screen. i thought I was safe leaving the pictures on there until I could sync them over to my laptop but........now what? I do have a spare Lobster that I could take apart but I aint that good with phones!!! mellow.gif

Stoopid white screen! I'm a little upset...can you tell? cool.gif

hiya, not so long ago I read somewhere how to do a screen capture on the s710/vox...for example, if you want to show someone your homescreen you can do something to copy the homescreen and then it saves as a picture which you can then send to someone. What is it that I have to do to be able to do this...can someone please help me on this one? I did it once but have now forgotten what I did.

Many thanks :-)

Hi there,

When I send an sms I use the Delivery Notification to let me know that my sms has been received. When I receive the sms it says System Administrator but I want to know the actual number that Virgin uses. Hope someone can help.

EDIT: All sorted. I emailed Virgin and they helped me out.

Many thanks :-)

I'm really pleased to have found that by saving a text to the drafts folder and then moving it to the outbox will make the text send but does anyone have the solution to how to get the send button to send yet? :-)

not wanting to be beaten over this I tried taking my sim out and reinserting it. What good that was going to do I do not know but last night something strange happened. It worked. Only thing was I didnt have my sim in it was our sim we use on another phone. So, I took that out and then had the same problem with my sim. It wouldnt find it. So, after 200 attempts of taking it out and putting it back in and switching it on...guess what...I just got it working. So, the contact pins must be a bit dodgy. I dont know if I open the phone up to look at the pins if I will be able to kind of straighten them or something otherwise i am never going to be able to turn my phone off ever again! Maybe I should just leave it switched on........ :-)

EDIT: Its all sorted. I think. I just wont ever remove the sim again. And I wont be trying out dual sims ever again! :-)

Thanks for your replies. I asked around at a few places where I live today. No one could help. The bloke I spoke to in Carphone Warehouse said it would have to go away for a month and said I should go and talk to the people in Orange as they deal with the SPV E650 but I didnt get time. From what I have heard today I believe I have wrecked the contacts inside where the sim sits. Looking at the pictures of the HTC s710 inside it looks like the sim holder sits on a board which would have to be replaced. I can only give myself an award for 'wrecking a phone in the fastest amount of time' - three days! I guess I've learnt my lesson the hard way. mellow.gif Can anyone recommend anywhere HTC s710's can get fixed for a reasonable price?

Hi all,
I'm new to this place so sorry if I have posted in wrong area. I got a new HTC S710 a couple of days ago. Today I received a dual sim card and excitedly put the holder in without reading the instruction or adding any cut up sims just to make sure the holder did fit. Well, it did fit but I couldnt get the thing back out again as something was getting caught. I had to pull it out using tweezers and now the dual sim is all broken (oh well) but now when I put my Virgin sim card in it is saying 'no sim'. Have I shorted something or have I actually broken something inside the sim holder? I dont know what to do. Just thought I would ask for help before I start looking for somewhere to send my phone off to! :-(
