If its a long mp3 and you get an sms will any key press stop the tone playing and if not is there a setting or program to add to E650 which will stop the ringtone playing when sms is received and a key is pressed.

Thanks.

Look in this thread for an answer. Btw it's much more convenient to post a question just 1x...

Cheers

[...] if you press any key will the tone stop playing?

As far as I know and have experienced: the sms tone will not stop. And indeed - that's stupid.

[...] Then I copied the file to \\Windows\Rings
but when I try to choose it as a SMS ringtone, it doesn't show [...]

Afaik the sms ringtones and the normal phone ringtones are in different folders.
My sms ringtone is a wave file and i put it in a folder \Application Data\Sounds

Give it a try.

Thanks Disco Stu. I managed to reassociate them by unassociating them in GSPlayer.

But I don't see the logic in the association of ringing and alarm tones with WMP. I give the exact path to the audio file...so both alarm and ringing player should be able to play them. On a desktop computer it is no problem to associate mp3s with e.g. winamp and all other programs can still work with these files.
But I think WM6 is no XP or Vista...even if some people tune their smartphones so they look like Vista phones ;-)

Hi there,

a few days ago I installed GSPlayer on my s710. The program works fine. Then I found the option for file association and thought: GSPlayer is my audio player...so let him play all audio formats. I did the association and the next day I was wondering why I have some missed calls but didn't hear the phone ringing. It seems that the audio file association for wma-files prevents the phone from using wma-files as ringing tones.
The same for my alarm program Chronos Alarm: the program can use mp3's, ogg, wav etc. but after the association of sound files with GSPlayer no alarm is sounding.
Could it be that ringing tones and phone alarms use the Windows Media Player in the background and since the audio files are no longer associated with it, it just refuses to play them? But when I pick a mp3 directly with the media player it still is able to play it.
I thought file association is just for making the phone sure with what application a file is to be opened in the first place...

Does anyone had the same experience?

Greetings from Cologne/Germany

there is an awesome new feature in the new ROM
[...] you will have a popup of alphabets. [...]

Hi prajith,
that's not a new feature.
It is there at least since WM 2003. Perhaps you never kept the down arrow key pressed long enough... :-)
Anyway: it's a nice feature and perhaps some people don't know about it yet.

So let's keep pressing the down arrow key!

I can't seem to get AvantGo to install on my E650, it just sits on the spinning-disk-sand-timer thing indefinitely. Anyone know if AvantGo actually runs on WM6? I can't see anything about it on the AvantGo website. It's a real shame because I use it all the time on my C600 and M2000.

AvantGo works excellent on my s710. Just download the smartphone version of the program from the avantgo-site.
