Hi all,

I remember the time where I owned an E200, and I always downloaded my homescreens from this one guy - I think he called himself kwdrl or something similar. I've tried google - but to no avail.

Do you remember his name specifically?

Thank you in advance.

You'll be referring to "Kleinweder", aka "kl1wdr" who had some amazing home screen designs for Windows SmartPhone (think a few ended up on my E200 too smile.gif). His web site is http://www.kleinweder.ch/index.php?lang=en, where he's still developing home screens smile.gif

HTH....

Cheers,

Mark.

If you're using Exchange 2003 (w/SP2), then you don't have such "granular" control as you do with Exchange 2007; the Exchange ActiveSync policy is better on E2K7 and allows you to disable various components, as well as forcing encryption of email attachments on the storage card etc. (it even gives you the ability to restrict Exchange access to known devices only - by setting up MAC address access lists).

Search around on Jason Langridge's blog, as he's posted some useful articles/links to various device setup/provisioning tasks......not that this site doesn't have a good deal of information wink.gif

This link - http://www.microsoft.com/technet/solutiona...fpdepguide.mspx - is a good starting point for a new deployment (assuming you are using E2K3 SP2!)......

Cheers,

Mark.

I went through the notification noises that are curently setup (e.g. noises for sms, email etc) and I *think* it sounded like the voicemail one... but why at 4am!?

Tell you what it might have been....

My phone (TyTN II) sometimes fails to get the QuickGPS update (Start | Programs | QuickGPS to see when it was last updated, that might give you a clue) and throws out a "reminder-like" sound. More often than not, the default action of "Try again in five minutes" will sort it, it just seems to fail (randomly) on the first attempt. Oh, and it puts an icon in the top bar that looks like a satellite dish.....

Hope that helps,

Mark.

How scary is that ohmy.gif

I installed v1.4 on my Vista machine this morning, tried it (to push my Resco Explorer 7.01 update across smile.gif), got the same error as everyone else and thought....."Hmm, must have a search on MoDaCo for a Vista compatible version...."

Nope.... it wasn't a typo.

I'm going to lie down in a darkened room for a week.

Humble apologies. huh.gif

biggrin.gif

You'd be suprised how many people make that mistake.....the usual one is "STMP".....maybe it's something to do with the fact that the human eye sees only the first and last letters of a word clearly and "invents" the bit in the middle.....or, you could just chalk it up to the fact that your phone can't handle your speed typing and jumbled the letters on purpose wink.gif

In any event, glad it's sorted!!

After flashing another rom from Dutty this morning, I was wondering about the possability of a program where should you have a big enough sd card ( mine is 8gb so I think I have plenty!) and you need to hard reset/flash a new custom rom, that you just run a cab, it looks to a directory on the sd card for cab files of all the programs you want, and runs them concurrently.
...
...

There is a utility on XDA-Devs that has been developed for just this purpose - it's called UC SDconfig Builder. It's started to be adopted by ROM chefs, who have begun to cook it into their ROMs so that whenever you flash their ROM, the SDconfig application runs as part of the ROM customisation process and installs all your favourite apps. and CABs from the Storage Card....read this post for all the gory details!!! AFAIK, some of Dutty's ROM's are "UC compatible", so you might be in with a fighting chance!!!

Friend of mine showed me his snazzy setup on his Dash and he had made the start button act just like a PC would: it popped up the list and even had drop down menus. How did he do this? I am not really a fan of how WM6 goes to a list of programs.

The program you're looking for is called QuickMenu - search for it over on xda-devs, or on Google wink.gif There's also a program called WkTask, which puts the currently running programs as icons across the title bar (a la Windows taskbar...) - you can get that from this page

Hope this helps,

There have been a couple of utilities posted over on xda-devs that will help you in your cause - both called "Group SMS" strangely enough!!

One can be found >HERE< and the other is mentioned a little further down the same thread and links to >HERE<.

Check them out and see if either fits your needs

Are there any good free Windows Mobile 6 theme editors? I want to see what you can do without non-freeware skinning programs.

There's ThemeGenCE, which you can get from this link - the site's in French, but there's an English download link and also a link to a product tutorial in English, which is well worth a read wink.gif

Hope this is what you were after, it seems to be quite popular (and regularly updated, which is also a bonus for freeware ohmy.gif)

Paul, you misread the members name...

I offered up resco, as the OP now has a PPC with a touchscreen and a keyboard - so its really easy to edit the registry on the device.

......which he didn't want to do biggrin.gif

What the OP needs is CERegEditor, which can be found right here - it's free, it does registry backup/restore, it does registry compares, it's free (oops, already mentioned that blush.gif)

Anyone else? Open a message (any type) and it opens at the bottom of the message, so that I can't see the message or who it's from without scrolling up. It's annoying mad.gif

Also, if I use the D-pad to scroll through the messages, each message opens up in the same manner - at the bottom.

Is there a fix for this?

This is/was a common problem on the Hermes / TyTn I - but only if you'd installed a "tweak" utility like HTweakC or PimpMyBlack. There is a registry key (see below) that needs to be set to a value of 1 in order to prevent the auto-scroll-to-end in messages etc. The only downside to setting it to 1 is that you can't then scroll around pages in PIE using the D-Pad, you've got to use the stylus.

CODE
\HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Navigation\4-Way Nav = 1

If you've got the stock ROM on your TyTn II, then this may be the default setting; if you've flashed or installed tweaks, then this behaviour may be the result of that.......

QUOTE(Mysterious Stranger @ Oct 9 2007, 16:25) *
And was Buzz's method based on your work? If so, how, since you did the unlocks by post?

Your quote was ALL the unlockers come from you! Read again what you typed.

Perhaps they have come FIRST from you, but to claim credit for every single unlocking software out there is frankly ridiculus....

M.S

edit - way to go with the proofs. Now prove Buzz's work is based on yours ergo all windows mobile unlcokers come from you please...

I used Buzz's *free* unlocker to unlock my Universal (Orange M5000) as I was not prepared to post my device off to imei-check; I actually donated to Buzz roughly the same amount as imei were charging, so I feel that I paid "what was right" for the unlocking process......

Historically, imei-check have been the "first to market" with device unlocking and that is where they've made their money; more recently, the gap between imei-check's unlock service and the first freebie to hit the net has narrowed somewhat and naturally imei's income stream has suffered as a result.

I also firmly believe that people will take the route they feel most comfortable with; if they are not terribly technically-minded, then they will not want to be hard-resetting, flashing radio ROM's, patching bootloaders....yadda yadda yadda........they will pay their money and make their choice, knowing that the end result will be the same.

I am saddened by the fact that imei-check will not be offering the public unlock for the Kaiser/TyTn II - there are gonna be some technophobes who will no longer be able to call on their services.....

I hope Florin changes his mind, if only to prevent this "farce" becoming the beginning of the end for imei-check - at least for "mere mortals"...... smile.gif

Just my $0.02 wink.gif

My TMob MDA compact III randomly puts the phone into vibrate mode only, even though I put it back to ring only. This is leading to missed calls as the phone isn't always in my pocket/ on a hard surface.
There doesn't seem to be a pattern to it unfortunately.

The phone was an upgrade that I loaded with WM6 B & B 3.7 as soon as it came out of the box, so I have no idea if it was an issue under WM5.
Any tweaks I should dp?
I've searched through XDA developers but found no clue as to what is going on.

Nick

I'm not familiar with the "B&B 3.7" ROM - everyone and his dog has released a WM6 ROM over at Xda-devs recently and I can't keep up rolleyes.gif !!

Anyway, that aside, I have this question for you. Does the ROM include the HTC home plugin and are you using it??

The reason I ask is that the "5-button" version exhibits this random "switch to vibrate" bug, which I believe is related to calendar appointments (adding/changing/moving etc.). There is a later verson of the the HTC home plugin with six buttons that no longer has the vibrate issue....

Obviously, if you don't have, or are not using, the HTC home plugin pretty much everything I've just written is irrelevent ohmy.gif

Hi

I found the Orange Homescreen (attatched) on the xda-dev ftp site. I also found what you were looking for: Instructions for changing Splashscreen, see the second attachment. You will however need to aquire a .bmp of the splashscreen you want and a program referred to in the instructions as mtty.exe to upload the splashscreen to the phone.

Hope this helps.

Tim

Changing the splash screen is a little less painful (IMHO) than getting involved with mTTY.exe - once you've found the bitmap you want (you need two in actual fact, one @ 240x240 and one @ 320x240 - portrait and landscape respectively), just follow the guide written by MrVanx HERE.

I can't help with the splashscreen bitmap, I'm afraid - you might be lucky enough to locate one via Google?

Cheers,

Mark.

What a fantastic idea Paul - that'll save me having to open truckloads (currently 22) browser windows each day ohmy.gif to see if the various apps that I use on my M3100 have been updated!!!

BTW, would you mind if I leeched your post and posted on XDA-Devs and 4WinMobile?? There's a heck of a lot of development work goes on in both those places......or would you rather be selective as to who got involved with the project (given MoDaCo's position on "dodgy gear" wink.gif )???

I'm looking forward to seeing how this develops - your "NoData" program is very well received by people with minimal data packages who want to restrict their browsing to WiFi only - hopefully "MoDaCo Updater" (we must have a poll for a snappy name for it wink.gif ) will go the same way.

Cheers,

I was too lazy to count the number of characters in the LNK code so I just used 00. tongue.gif

I think it indicates the number of characters in the LNK code. For instance, there are 64 characters in this code, thus '64#'. Count from the first " up to the last " including spaces.
CODE
64#"\Storage Card\Program Files\XnView Smartphone\XnSmartphone.exe"

Another example:

So I WAS right tongue.gif - the characters before the "#" represent the total length of the command string, including any quotation marks....

Thanks for the clarification - and for owning up biggrin.gif
