Garmin Mobile XT is the only Garmin application that you can use on your Blackjack II. Once you have Garmin Mobile XT installed on your phone, you can connect it to your computer and use Garmin City Navigator NA NT 2008 to manage the map data that is available on your phone. It will show you a map of the states available, and you simply click on the areas/states you want installed. I wound up putting only the eastern states on my phone from FL to Maine. Just remember you must have valid activation codes on both your phone and computer. If you install all the maps for all of North America including Alaska, Hawaii, Canada and Puerto Rico it takes 1GB. A 2GB card on sale is $9.95. I would recommend installing everything. SeanH |

Mind sharing the portion of the xml code to make 2 columns (to display both calendar and tasks side by side)? I'm assuming that's not using the Facade View plugin, rather the standard Facade schedule/task plugins? FS I forgot to mention that I use the orange plug-in with façade to do the columns. The calendar and task view are separated with orange that lets you use columns. I tweaked the xml code to get it all to fit. The clock in the corner uses columns also to get both the clock on the phone info on the same line. If you are interested I will post the xml code. SeanH |

And if you DONT click on "edit senders message" doesn't it attach the senders message as an actual Attachment? That is correct. Every time I forward or reply to a message I click on "edit senders message" so the person gets the message in the body of the email and not an attachment. Does anyone know of a registry entry that would always include the original message in the body of the email with out having to click "edit senders message". SeanH |

I do not understand why Microsoft would screw this up. On an older 8525 running WM5 the implantation was perfect. You can configure your GPS using a tool like this and all the apps worked prefect. On WM6 Smartphone edition there different implementations on different devices. It does not make sense. SeanH |

There is a DLL on the Q9h called LCAService.dll.... Thanks, I did not know that. I wish I could get my BJ II to work with MS Pocket Streets 2006 (build 13.0.15.2900). It does not have an option to config a com port. When you click on Start GPS I believe it does not look for a GPS on a com port it looks for a Bluetooth device that might have a GPS. If anyone has info on making this work it would be greatly appreciated. SeanH |

Everything is working great except the icon. On my BJII I added the info to the reg and did not get anything. What else is in HKLM\Services\LCAService any other entries? Thanks, SeanH |

I have both an 8525 and a BJ II. Someday soon I will sell the 8525 and pick up a Tilt. On the 8525 I also use iGuidance, and after trying many GPS apps over the years I found it to be the best out there. I leave the Bluetooth GPS in car powered on all the time so it’s always locked and there are no delays. I read that Garmin Mobile XT is one of the best apps for a WM6 Smartphone edition. The Blackjacks II GPS has a few limitations. It seems to take forever to lock on three satellites and it drains the battery fast. I also found that when you stop using the GPS it still drains the battery fast. You have to reset the device to fully disable the GPS. SeanH |

It's not as satisfying as a true remap You can call it real or fake. It replaces the two default apps that the buttons use with tiny sub 1KB apps that stay in memory. When you press one of the buttons it launches a different app that you specify in the config file. My goal was when I press the first button it launches IE and the second button launches the calendar app. After using this fix it works perfect for me. If you are not happy with the app don’t use it, but don’t bash it by calling it not a true remap. On my BJ II those keys are now remapped to other apps, it works. SeanH |

Awesome. I'm almost set on upgrading today. Just a few more questions: Is there a way to turn off the data connection? It's not always transmitting 24/7, is it? And is there a data meter where you can see how much you've used? Thanks again! I am not sure how you disable the data connection. With every phone I have ever used I have needed it. I would imagine if you never use internet explorer, email or any other app that needs internet access you will never use any data. There are apps to monitor data usage. You can also dial a code to ATT and they will show data usage for the month on your phone. It also shows data usage on the ATT web site when you login. Most people have unlimited data and do not worry about it. SeanH |

I see how the data cable and charger go through the same port, but does the BJII charge when plugged into a PC? Also, for those who put the BJI or BJII in their pocket, how well does the screen keep out dust, if at all? Yes the BJ II does charge when Plugged into a PC in all three modes, Sync, Modem, USB Drive. No the phone does not get dusty in your pocket. It does get a lot of smudges when its pressed against your face when talking. SeanH |

I tried it. All it does is make the phone vibrate. I am shocked that Samsung and AT&T would released a phone with out this feature. Sean |

Did you ask them why the LED only blinks Magenta for 2 sec if you miss a call or get a message? It should blink forever. SeanH |

Everytime mine has "lit up", I've found there was a reason for it doing so, such as a message coming in or a reminder going off. Mine lights up for things like that also. There are times were it lights up for no reason at all. It bugs me a lot because I stare at it waiting for something to happen, like in incoming call or email. SeanH |

Picked up the BJ2 and overall like it compared to BJ1.. However, it appear that at random times the screen just lights up! I know I've seen a post somewhere concerning this but can't find it to say my life.. Anyone else experience this or have a suggestions? I read the same thing in another forum. Mine does it all the time. Its 100% random. Sometimes it will do it 5 times in an hour other times it will not do it for hours. The undocumented LED changes different colors every time it switches from GSM to 3G. That has nothing to do with the phone turning on randomly SeanH |
