Hello, I recently applied the T mobile wm6 upgrade to the compact III. This seems to have broken the smart2go navigation software from Nokia which while will it starts up displays some odd behaviour like, not showing menu keys. I have used both google maps and windows live for naviagation and windows live has the edge but its display options (no 3D view, map dosent follow direction of travel) make it a bit tricky. What do others use? Is this a case that paying for co-pilot or Tom Tom is the best option for a usable in car navigation system? Are there other free systems? Your experience would be much appreciated. all the best Mark Mark, I've only ever used TT, never tried anything else because - and this is a matter of personal choice - it does the job I need it to do. I can definitely recommend TT. Regards, |

I'm thinking of upgrading my O2 XDA Orbit to WM6 but I have a few questions. I bought my device off ebay as a brand new unlocked device and am using it pretty successfully with a T-Mobile PAYG card. My only issues are that the phone crashes now and then (maybe 3 times a week but some of it could be due to pressure on the power button when it's in my pocket) and it is a bit sluggish. I heard that WM6 is noticably quicker than WM5 and I would hope that some bug fixes would possibly increase stability hence my desire to upgrade. My big question is, if I download the official O2 upgrade, will that then re-introduce an O2 network lock code into the device so that I need to go out and find someone to unlock it again? I don't particularly want the O2 branding so, especially if the O2 download will re-lock the device, then have any O2 XDA Orbit owners successfully updated their device using a generic HTC 3300 WM6 download? If so then which one? As part of the ROM update process, does ActiveSync (I am running 4.5) offer to save the previous ROM image first so that it is reasonably easy to roll my device back to its current state if I hit problems? - Julian @JulianL, did you ever get satisfactory replies to these questions? |
