Mine arrived this morning!

Few points to note -

fancy day night background ... not on the one that comes from expansys. neither is the skype app or skype voucher . . not that i brought it for either of those things, but i know some of you might be! I guess the ebay item paul brought was a different bundle.

Good little phone - I wanted to downsize my MDA to something small, with potential of complex function, but not a compromise between PDA and phone. This is my first candy bar smartphone since my C550 approx 2 years ago. The better battery, thin and light design make this a smartphone you could really live with .. . and the wifi is a nice touch.

To think I almost brought a thin nokia!

Hi, sorry its a You tube link - but its animated.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVslmO-AnnA

If I could get some feed back that would be great. I plan to adjust the Location of Home screen Info . . messages, calender etc etc.
The expand function on the start menu will show everything you'd expect from the start menu, plus all programs. Theres not much on there atm. But the top row of items will be the most frequently used, and once the start menu is expanded all the remaining icons will appear in order of frequently used.

Ignore the mouse cursor, its just becuase its running on my PC at the moment.

I've cancelled my contract for various reasons and making do with 02 Pay and go . . . problem is every time I send out a Text Message it insists on telling me my remaining credit balance, the problem with that is regardles if the sound is turn off, or the phone is on vibrate it makes and alert sound, nothing I do turns this off.

Does anyone know how to do this - its driving me crazy!

Hi, I'm afraid its been a while since I last looked around these parts, but I'm hopeing the community will help me out a tad.

I need to do some interface research for a development project I'm doing for my Uni Dissertation. Its only short and really quite basic, its to get an idea of interface problems. Basically born from the fact that i've owned 4 smartphones now and I've never used them for what they were intended for becuase i'd get frustraited with them. If some of you could answer some / all of these questions i'd be really greatful. All entries will be given first refusal at trying anything new I develop.

Its a bit generic as its been posted on non smartphone forums!

Mobile Devce Type;
i.e Blackberry, Windows , palm, regular phone - please include make / model

Usage;

i.e Main Device; Secondary Device ;

Usage Type;
i.e. Phone, Organiser, both, games, etc.

Most useful Apps?

Operation Type

Conventional Button
Touch sensitive button (ipod style)
Touch Screen

Data Input Method
Stylus
Keypad
Keyboard
External add-on

When you brought your phone were the organisational / office features important? i.e. did you think I could use that for work / college?

If yes - how did it turn out in reality?

I.e. does it sit on your desk looking all shiny and wonderful but really its easier to use a pencil to take that note

Do you often make mistakes when entering Data?

I.e. Writing a message / note
If yes - why do these mistakes occour

If yes / sometimes - are these mistakes easily corrected?
i.e is there a simple correction method, or is it just more hassle?

If no - no ones is perfect, but you seem to be . . . where do you think us lesser beings are going wrong? - Nothing rude here please!

Have you ever been confident with your device’s operation only to be shown by someone else you’re in fact doing it all the long way round?

Free for all space! - What bugs you about the general operation of your device?

I am looking to develop monitoring software for Pocket PC and Smartphone, for a project i've been given - though i'm a programmer i've never developed for this platform. Was wondering if anyone had some starting points they could offer.

I figured i could start on my project by first recording when messages were sent etc etc, was wondering whether there is a way of monitoring the process scheduler and simply recording when the process ID for SMS send came in . . . though thats a very linuxy way of doing things . Any Ideas for Win mobile?

Looking to develop for WM5

Cheers

Yeah, the ROM is corrupted on their end. I had a long chat with tech support and now they are aware of the problem. They said it would take a few days to fix, probably till next Monday (11th December '06).

Cheers for the info smile.gif

Trying to install the Update downloaded from T-mobile, but it won't let me, after unpacking the files it claims to be corrupt. This happened on both of my machines.

The file came from Tmobile site - its 49.5 Mb (as the site claims) I watch it all download . . . and its happening on all my machines . . .

First - anyone have any ideas?
Or - anyone have a copy of the ROM known to be working?
Or - anyone know who to contact from tmobile ? prefrably someone who works with the MDA ROMS - i'm not on a T-mobile contract so i can't call them, and i can't see any useful email address on the website.

cheers

I figure that putting this here might get more attention - plus i wasn't too sure which development section to put it in so appologies . . . .

Right my final year project for Uni im gonna try do something pretty cool, i won't post the exact details here but im contactable if you're interested.

Basically I want to do something remotly with bluetooth from a SPV c500, but before i propose this assignment to my tutors i need to know if im capable of writing an app for the smartphone which uses the bluetooth, so I am appealing to the developers out there who have experience with bluetooth where I should start looking to get started, and if there is anything open source that i can look at - of course i started googleing but theres too much to look at, and Im off to the library now.

So if anyone knows anything at all, or knows a person, who has a friend, who once met a clown, who buys his shoes from a man who's son is a software developer . . . let me know wink.gif

Oh and im also interested in solenoid control from a computer . . . but thats a little way off yet.

Regards

I did wonder and already tried . . . and i know the signal indicator is only a guide BUT when the phone just sits there displaying searching where Orange used to be its obviously not just in a low signal . . . . it must be hardware, though me thinks i will set the phone again.

As always with my smartphone experience i begin by saying how wonderful something is then i come back and scream.

My building was somehow blocking signal from orange so i brought an external ariel for it which sticks in the window and plugs in the back of the phone . . . anyway it works fine, brilliant and fualtless except for now i can hardly get any signal anywhere else. Its not totally bad, just that most of the time i have one bar or none, though rarely in clear / high areas i get full signal.

so here it is, ariel works great for a few months, then one day you won't be able to get signal in places you previously could.

if anyone knows what i can do about this let me know, anyone considering an ariel take heed.

By alittle slow i mean, reboot phone, reboot PC then connet and start using it straight away. the mouse pointer moves fine but it seems to take 30 seconds or so before the phone settles down, if you click before it has settled down the command seems to get lost or just executed slowly . . though to be honest its not a major problem, just if the software aims to improve productivity it maybe a little annoying.

**edit ***

my mistake - it seems to become more of a problem when SMS create is open and then connect phone and try typeing straight away. It became slightly confused when i wanted to copy and paste almost immideately
