I have an issue with GPS also.. Just not sure where it lies... I am running TLR's latest ROM; GPSGate, CameraAware (for Navizon points collecting only) and CoPilot 7. I don't seem to be able to get CameraAware & Co Pilot to co exist happily... If i start CameraAware first - which seems the logical way of doing stuff, i can't get CoPilot to get a fix. If i start CoPilot 1st its a nightmare to get back to the today screen to find CameraAware, which then takes ages to get a fix.... On their own they both work fine. Anyone else finding anything similar ? Cheers SF |

Oddness - Anyone else seeing this? I find that both TLR apps (ie the ROM and Updates) are quite flakey in terms of being picked up by App2Date. Sometimes they register - sometimes they don't (timeout?) The other App2Date apps i have are App2Date CameraAware NoData Which all seem "more robust" I don't get App2Date errors though.... edit : cos my browser doesn't like Modaco Quotes\Replies.... |

I cant find any free ways of getting this phone unlocked so am going to pay Orange for the code (£20). Once its unlocked and sim free, if I then flash it with a rom like dr gonzo's will it stay unlocked?

Hi - I got my e650 unlocked at http://www.imei-check.co.uk/ cost about the same as Orange Charged.. and have flashed with Dr Gonzo's ROM... no problems! Just take a look on XDA-Developers for an updated radio though - the one that came with my phone was very old..! SF |

I have read in multiple places that the new Windows Mobile 6.1 does not work with SKYPE? Is this true? If so anyway to work around the issue? If not should I downgrade my OS right away when I get the TyTN II? Does the front camera work for video calling with SKYPE? If not what does it work with? Does the GPS work no matter what country I am in? Anything else I should do to my phone right away to prpare it for lots of international skype usage. Thanks CC Hi... I am running winmo 6.1 on my TMobile Kaiser - i can't run Skype on it... i guess it depends on where you get your phone from - as to if it will have WinMo 6.1 installed on it.... If it doesn't then it will have WinMo 6 installed and you will be cool ... What were you going to use to connect to Skype? Unless you are are connecting via Wifi you might find that the data charges are more than the the cost of the phone call ;-) When i roam i pay £7 per Mb.... which aint cheap (So don't forget to get a copy of NoData.. See Here) Cheers SF |

I've just had my tytnII replaced by Orange today, and am keen to load one of the new ROMs onto it. I have two newbie-ish questions which I'd greatly appreciate answers for:1. How do I choose between TLR's ROM and the official ROM? What factors should I take into consideration? Official is Official - not that that will make any difference when you blitz your Orange - its the HTC official - not the Orange official - so they won't support it... TLR's is based on the "Official" (i think); but has some added applications and appto date support - check the 1st post to see what you get above the official ROM.. You will also (probably) get more community support here with TLR's ROM, and XDA Dev's for the official ROM - although this seems to be used as a base for other cooked ROM's rather than just installing the base ROM.... QUOTE 2. Will either, or both, work on my Orange-branded Kaiser? Sorry if these have been asked before, it's just that it seems that every time to ask a question on here it gets a different answer, so I'm keen to hear what peoples' thoughts are! I have a T-Mobile Vario III (TMo Kaiser) - Works fine for me - if you do flash your phone - just make sure you follow the instructions so you don't brick your phone! SF |

I use a Village Hotels gym a few times a week and they have a free WF for which they provide the username and password to members/guests. But when I try to use it I get a connection with no data transfer. Never get prompted for user/pass. Do I need to turn something on or is there a setting to tweak. Any help appreciated You have probably tried this - but sometimes when connecting to a wifi network for the 1st time, my Vario III doesn't connect properly. Delete the original connection and do a rescan - this should now prompt you for a password when you connect. Cheers SF |

Iv'e just found that on the previous rom the settings -personal - buttons- Lock tab is missing. Is it there on this release as I'm getting annoyed to find I'm about to dial or voice dial after its been off in my pocket? Just checked and I have the lock button on my TLR ROM. But the easiest way to lock your phone is to just hold the red "end calls" button.SF |

Thanks, it's really frustrating - Orange are no use whatsover. This morning I was told by tech support, to take the battery out of the phone whilst it was still turned on - apparently this solves most email problems! If you google orange smtp server and unreliable/problems it's not too hard to find many others with similar problems. However the woman at tech support claims this is the first time she's ever had anyone phone up and complain about the smtp server - apparently all my problems are because of maintenance work, if I bear with them for a few days, she's sure it'll all be sorted! From what I've read about AOL, I can only use the AOL smtp server with an AOL email address - not an option for me. I've discovered last night/today, that if I set the phone to GSM only when I've only got 1-2 bars of 3G reception, that I have more success sending. Can anyone suggest anything? I'd happily take any form of improvement. cheers Steve Hi Stevo; I use AuthSMTP (http://www.authsmtp.com/) and don't have any issues... you can set it up so that the reply address & the from addresses are whatever you want. might be a solution. Cheers SF |

Anyone know how to turn it off? Also, anyone know how to delete one message in a conversation (or, more to the point, all but one)? Seems you can only delete a single conversation. And lastly, how can you forward a text message from somebody? There are some CABS available to turn off the threaded SMS do a search on TLR's original Rom thread.... Forwarding a message.... yeah that is a real PITA. I did it once - but haven't been able to figure it out again.. my workaround was to copy and paste the txt and send it on..... Anyone got a better answer...? SF |

Does anyone have a link to an idiots guide to obtaining/using HardSPL? It's been a fair while since I did ROM flashes and my mind is blank. (I'm assuming I need to run HardSPL to flash a Vario III with this) Try This HTC Kaiser Hard-SPL v1 - CID Unlock & Flash any ROM to your device (4 free) SF |

Paul - Have you reflashed your Vario III with this ROM? And if so - are you going to keep it or go back to TLR's 6.1 build? Cheers SF |

I'm waiting for HTC to finally ship that ROM they're sitting on Is there any interest in a retro-fit apptodate package so that when the new ROM DOES come out, you can just download it straight to your device OTA (or get the notification, then come here and grab it)? Yes +1 |

Incase anyone else was wondering... So - i went ahead and got the phone unlocked by www.imei-check.co.uk. Having done that i have done a couple of hard resets and so far so good - the phone is still unlocked. So now my plan is to dump the Orange e650 ROM as a backup if i have to return - and then flash Dr Gonzos.... will let you know the outcome! SF |

I have a question actually...Relating to what Shadowfixeruk said, is there some awesome application that allows you to see your text messages on your PC and respond to them? So if you're around your PC you can send and receive on your PC without having to get the phone out of your pocket? (the joys of bluetooth!) Technically I could use this thing, and may just do that.. but.. just text messages would be more elegant. I use to use Floats Mobile Agent for my Sony Ericsson, doubt that works for Windows Mobile. Lozzd - give mymobiler a go. it does pretty much what you want. you can use a mouse to select the pin to log in - then select your application, then use the PC keyboard to write your text... all via bluetooth :-)hth SF |
