ok i'm sorry if i frustrate anyone but i've been searching, well it seems like forever, on instructions on how to have the clockontop in 12-hr format for WM6. i tried downloading it from the smartphone-freeware site and also allshadow.com, but each installation still does the 24-hr format. my shadow came stock with WM6. can anyone please please let me know the instructions on how to get the clockontop in 12-hr format? THANKS in advance! if you want the 12-hour format, you will need to replace the ClockOnTop.lnk in the Windows > Startup folder with the one in the ClockOnTop ZIP file. Make sure the ClockOnTop.lnk file is in that folder before placing the replacement lnk file in there. |

I get this same issue too, Everytime without fail i find that some app is still running, if you notice this check your task manager and clear all, should fix it up for you. I usually come across it with the media player, PIE, and the camera. hope that helps Yeah this problem happens to me on occasion too. Sometimes manually locking the phone fixes it, but more often it's as Jedi said and an app is still running. I'm usually really good at using task manager but every once in awhile forget. The screen not turning off problem has bit me in the ass once before since it completely drained my full battery in no time. |

Is there a way to show your IE favorites in alphabetical order? It's really a pain to find things, and it seems like such a simple solution but I can't seem to find where to change it. Am I just blind? Or is this something I need to edit the registry for? |

I was abbreviating HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE to HKLM, hoped that was obvious. To enable the clock: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\CHome go to the "CClock" key "Disabled" value should be 0 "DisablePageCounter" value should be 0 If you already have MyFaves then you shouldn't have to change anything to show it. But just in case, the values from it are the following: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\CHome go to the "CHome" key "DisablePageCounter" value should be 1 go to the "CMyFaves" key "Disabled" value should be 0 "DisablePageCounter" value should be 1 If you want to hide MyFaves, then just do the opposite. |

you probably didnt put the right IMEI in. im assuming the update is IMEI specific do to the NCK values on the phones. I didn't put the right IMEI number in and my update worked just fine (I followed the directions for the download that said to get your IMEI off the phone, not from behind the battery. So I was using a 17 digit number instead of the 15 digit one they wanted. I just ended up leaving off the last two numbers. Didn't seem to matter though). |

The clock screen shows if you don't have myfaves. If you do have myfaves, then that shows instead. You can edit the registry however to show both, or just one or the other. To hide myfaves: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\CHome inside go to CMyFaves- find value Disable Change from 0 to 1 Next: in same place HKLM\Software\Microsoft\CHome go to CHome inside is value Disable page change value from 1 to 0 Enable clock: in same place HKLM\Software\Microsoft\CHome go to CClock change value disable from 1 to 0 and value disable page from 1 to 0 Soft reset. |

I think the keylock is implemented in a dll called the tpcutil.dll and quickapp.exe is the one who knows how to access it. Given that, it might be a little difficult to find a "one key press" to lock the phone. However, I can suggest a two key press hack...not hold, but press....I guess with practice you will get fast with it! 1) Change "Contacts" on the home screen to point to \windows\quickapp.exe In HKLM\Software\Microsoft\CHome\CClock : SK2TEXT = "Quick List" and SK2URL = "\windows\quickapp.exe" 2) In HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\QuickApp, interchange the values of the keys named "1" and "3". 1 is the Power-off and 3 is the Lock. Now, on the home screen you press Right Soft Key followed by Center Key...that will lock the phone. I know its not elegant, but probably will get it done faster!! Hmm, I'll have to try that out! Two key presses is just fine, I'm used to two to unlock. Although I like having contacts there so I might just try doing it using the shortcut key. Holding down the * key is great if you happen to already have the slider open. But because of that requirement it's not quite as useful. |

Yeah, shame there isn't a better solution. Quick List is far too many extra steps to get to something so important. |

If by subfolders, you mean categories, then yes the Shadow does handle contacts within categories just fine. I don't know about with tasks since I haven't put mine into separate categories, but I'd assume they'd be fine as well. I'll test it out and post again later. Notes however are another story. WinMo standard does NOT sync notes with outlook. You'd have to get a separate program such as Smartphone Notes to handle that (and it works with categories just fine as well). |

I'm looking for an easier way to lock as well. I've been holding down the home key to get to the quick list then scroll to lock, which is FAR more complicated than necessary. |

Clock+MyFaves Home Screen: I think a soft reset is needed after the change with NeoOrder but even then it does not work reliably. That is, myfaves (if you have that function) does not always start or starts and displays the "myfaves is off" message. In fact I can never tell when both myfaves and the clock will both run after a soft reset but it does run sometimes as is evident in this screen shot. MyFaves is 3rd menu item from the top on the home screen. I have both the clock and myfaves and have yet to have any problems. However, I made the registry edit to enable the clock first, so it was already at the top of the list and did not need to be moved using neoOrder. I installed neoOrder much later to switch the notifications with myfaves (which makes my 1st three items the same as yours in the neo menu order). I did not have to do a soft reset after using neoOrder, just switching homescreens as stated in the directions did the trick for me. I have soft reset my device multiple times since then for unrelated reasons, and the menu order has still been reliable. |

That article just shows his own personal distaste for windows mobile. A few of the items are true (the gripe about the task manager for instance) but many others are just personal preference. And often many of them can be changed through the many hacks and registry modifications you can find on these forums, as well as software. It really comes down to how you use the device and what your own needs are. |

I wish the Shadow had 6.1. No phone out right now (commercially) has it that I know of. There's a ton of stuff in the current version that annoys the hell out of me and 6.1 should fix a lot of those issues according to the reviews/screenshots I've seen on it. But there's no telling if the Shadow will get an upgrade to it. I believe I did see a rumor that at least one HTC phone would be though. We'll just have to wait and see. |

I have the same issue where the backlight is at half brightness and the screen is still active. One thing I'm going to try is to set the Backlight timeout and the Display timeout to be the same. That was the first thing I'd tried when the problem showed up for me. It didn't help any. No changes in the power settings did. |

Awesome, thanks! Just one more thing... I'm completely new to the Windows Mobile platform in general (coming from a Palm) and I don't know what the best program is to use to edit the registry (or if you even need a program to do it?). Any freeware suggestions if so? Also, I'm assuming removing it from the homescreen won't effect MyFaves elsewhere. There's a MyFaves icon in the start menu that allows contacts to be associated and edited so I figure that calls made to MyFaves contacts will be processed under the plan even without the goofy homescreen? Not that it matters too much, I wouldn't use up all my minutes regardless. Just curious if anyone knew. |

Hi. New user here. I've had my T-Mobile Shadow for a week now. Today my new plan went into effect, and since it's MyFaves it automatically switched my homescreen to the hideous MyFaves one. I liked the regular homescreen with the clock much better, and was wondering if anyone knew how to toggle that setting. Thanks. |
