QUOTE Are you saying that I couldn't have Garmin running in the 'background' while I place/receive a call, so that when the call is done, I see the Garmin screen? Actually, I did mean that it would run in the background while you took the call. but when you end the call...typically your going to be taken back to your homescreen, not the last running program (at least that has been my experience), you would need to open the task manager and open the program back up (or click the icon in your MRU plugin, if your homescreen has one) and that would bring the program back tothe front. Thanks for both answers! One more question: do you know if AT&T requires you to carry a data plan, in order to get the BJII? If they don't, can I access the 'data network' on an as-needed basis? I'm able to do that today with the Audiovox SMT5600, meaning, that I don't have a data plan, but can get out as needed, and pay a per-unit-of-data fee. No, it is not required to have one if you have the Blackjack, but sometimes it is required to get the rebate. Course after you get the rebate you can drop the data plan. And yes, you can get one at the exhorbatant rate they charge for pay per use, IMO, if you use it at all...your better off with the plan. |

Hello! I'm considering buying a Blackjack II, primarily for the built-in GPS radio. I plan to also buy and use Garmin XT. Two questions (1) Is it easy to receive/make calls while using the Garmin XT application? Any feedback on your experience with this point would be greatly appreciated (2) Is it possible to transfer all the Garmin software from the Garmin-provided micro-SD, onto a larger capacity SD card, so I don't have to keep changing cards back and forth, when I want to listen to music etc? Many thanks for your help! 1) not sure, I've not received a call while using it, how sad is that, lol. I don't think it's an issue, after you end the call you would just need to re-open the program. 2) Yes, it is possible, my garmin application and maps are all on my 8GB sd card, there are instructions on how to do it here somewhere. One thing to keep in mind...the gps burns up the battery pretty quickly, so it is recommended to have (and use it) with a car charger. |

Remove the 300KB limit on Ringtones # Go into HKEY_Current User → ControlPanel → Sounds # Delete the key of FileSizeLimit (Thanks: ATT Boards: CaptainAmerica) i did this i get an error saying the file size is to big needs to be 0 kb Your not supposed to delete the key, your supposed to delete the value of the key. When you delete the key itself you get just what you got, a 0KB filesize limit. You need to go back to HKEY_Current User → ControlPanel → Sounds Create a new DWORD Value Value Name = FileSizeLimit Value Data = 10307200 (this is how I do this hack, simply add a 10 at the beginning of the value data.) |

I am also in need of an answer to this question. I don't see settings anywhere under Inbox. This would be so handy. Thanks also. Maybe this will help. I use Mobile Registry Editor for my regedits, so your editor may look a bit different. 1) Navigate to: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Inbox ![]() 2) Create a new key “Settings” Without the quotes ![]() 3) Create a new DWORD value “SMSNoSentMsg” and set the value to 1 (in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings) ![]() ![]() ![]() 4) Restart your phone. |

I would agree, I have played with the GPSID settings a few times only to find it has stuffed the GPS driver...nothing works as a consequence. Hard reset is the only solution. My main objective at the moment is to figure out (now that i have no control over the baud rate due to removing the GPSID GUI) how to actually control the rate of data coming in from 7-8 satellites. Basically I want to know wether or not the baud rate will make any difference to the map update on Garmin XT. The half second delay when the map updates is somewhat annoying....not that bad but still compared to my AT&T 8525 it cant compete in terms of smooth map panning in three dimesional mode..The AT&T 8525 has an ATI graphics chip on board so maybe this is why it's a lot better....maybe the Blackjack II has some physical hurdles that control this issue.... Can anyone shed some light on this? I don't know, I run several performance enhancing tweaks on my blackjack II; overclocking, system cache moved to sd card, sped up data transfer from the sd card and I get the delay. It's workable, but it is annoying, When I have used the GPS function in google maps, there was no turn by turn but the gps was dead on accurate where I was at all times, provided the map wasn't reloading. If you get it figured out, I'd love to here about it. I wonder if people using garmin BT receivers with this program have the same delay? |

I have the same problem on my Garmin 4.10.40ws wih Blackjack 2. When I start the program it just "scans attached" and then switches to "scans bluetooth" with no results. I left my device outside under clear sky for about 20 minutes. I tried with and without the modaco gps activator patch, hard reseting between tries. I have the sw.unl file in my garmin folder. I will look forawrd to a solution on this one - Try aquiring a satellite lock with GPSTest.exe first, once it locks start the garmin program, without stopping GPSTest.exe. |

GPS Breaking News! Certain Applications Break It! Yes, that's right. Using certain GPS applications on your Blackjack II will cause the GPS to stop functioning properly, or, in some cases, stop functioning at all. Why? I haven't the slightest clue! But I've tested it, and it's true. Certain applications, for whatever reason, once executed, seem to cause the GPS to stop functioning. The ones that do not cause it to stop functioning result in a slowed GPS load time system-wide. Windows Live Search is my prime example. After a hard reset, I had Garmin capable of obtaining a signal in less than 30 seconds! Then I tried WLS, and it started taking as long as 5 minutes. So I hard reset again, and was back to under 30 seconds! I tried this a couple times (with hard reset in each interval) and it turns out it's true. Now, the ones that cause the GPS to fail have also been tested a couple times. These, once installed, will cause, at a maximum, an inability to obtain a signal using any application. Tested applications which will likely result in a non-functional GPS unit: Microsoft GPSID Configuration Utility Nav4All Tested applications which will likely result in a damaged GPS unit: Windows Live Search UNTESTED applications which MAY result in a damaged GPS unit: Google Maps How to solve it? If you have executed the above applications and have noted that it is taking longer than 2 minutes to obtain a signal outside on a clear day, then you likely have a damaged GPS. If your GPS is not working, then you have a damaged GPS. THE ONLY SOLUTION IS A HARD RESET Unfortunately, you'll have to backup and of your precious data, turn off the device, press and hold the UP key, then turn the device on. Once the on-screen instructions appear, release both keys and follow them (1 to continue, y to confirm). ALL DATA WILL BE LOST AND YOUR SYSTEM WILL BE RESTORED TO ITS DEFAULT SETTINGS! Now I have a list of applications which have not resulted in problems: Garmin Mobile XT Modaco GPS Hack (not to be confused with the Microsoft one) Route66 for Smartphones (NOTE: I couldn't get the navigation to calculate a route, but the GPS does work, and it does not cause problems) I'm still waiting for AmazeGPS...no idea when, or if, they'll ever get that one out, but I'll test it when it's out and post the results. If you have any other applications you can confirm do or do not cause problems, post! I'm curious on a couple of points. 1) How are you starting your GPS? Are you simply using the programs to start them, or are you jumpstarting them with another application? For example, I use the builtin GPSTest.exe utility (in the windows folder of your blackjack II) to get a satellite lock, then launch whichever GPS application I want to use, like google maps or Garmin XT. I've never gotten Garmin to lock by itself (although in all fairness, I've never tried more than a minute or two and have only had it loaded and working on my phone since yesterday morning). 2) If it really does damage (or render it non functional) how does a hard reset fix it? My point here is it's got to be a software/driver issue if the reset fixes it, and if so, won't restoring your information via a back up just put the problem right back in place? |

Is there an SW.UNL file in the Garmin folder on your SD card? You need to unlock the device. FWIW, I have to kickstart Garmin with GPSTest.exe (located in the windows folder of your BlackJack II) Once GPSTest has locked on I start Garmin and it works just fine, the GPS chip needs to be running for Garmin t0 find it. |

I have been trying to find a cure to my problem for a couple days now and I have had absolutely no luck. I have my Blackjack set up to receive email from two gmail accounts, pop3. It receives and sends just fine but the problem arises when I read the emails. After reading an email it removes the email from my phone and I can't view it anymore. Is there any way to get the phone to stop deleting my emails permanently after i read them? They don't even show up in the deleted folder. Thanks in advance for any help. In your gmail settings on your phone, under messaging... under username add "recent:" without the quotes like recent:youremailladdy@gmail.com Gmail will leave your email in your phone then. |

I know one of you crazy fools has figured out a solid way to do this, or knows someone on xda who has, or something... I used OmapClock + OmapClockPlus back on my Blackjack 1 and was only moderately pleased with it. My understanding is that as soon as the phone goes into standby, it reverts to its standard clock. The fact that OmapClock was written for WM2003 also makes it a rather "inconvenient" choice as far as usability goes. The other app I've seen floating around out there is BatteryStatus, which I hear will step-up the clock once you wake your phone. Very nifty indeed. The problem with BatteryStatus is that it was written for the PocketPC version of Windows Mobile, and I can't get it to work on Windows Mobile Standard. Sadness. So I'm curious if anyone else has figured out a way to make OmapClock work decently (without having to re-activate it all the time), has gotten BatteryStatus to run on WM6 Standard, or has just found another good overclocking app that works well. Omapclock works just fine if you will create a shortcut to omapclockplus in your windows/startup folder. Edit it to set your clock at whatever you like. Mine is set "-clock276" |
