QUOTE(quksilver @ Jan 11 2008, 16:47) *
Thought I'd add a clarification on this tip based on some of my own tweaking. The value to delete will be called "Dll". If you delete that value, then the video is replaced with a default graphic logo. Annoyingly, during Startup the logo is displayed for a rather long time so getting rid of the video doesn't do much for you. However, if instead of deleting the Startup "Dll" value, you edit the Startup "Dll" value and delete the Value data, then no logo is displayed and the phone starts up much more quickly. The Windows Mobile graphic continues to display.

Note, that only applies to the Startup registry key. In the Shutdown key, if you delete the Value data from the "Dll" value, it causes a bit of funky behavior. Notably, there is no indication whatsoever (not even the Windows Mobile graphic) that the phone is powering off. It appears as if the phone locked up and is unresponsive, but if you wait it does shut down just fine. No lasting harm occurs; if it bothers you, then you can always go back and delete the "Dll" value entirely.

So, to get the best of both worlds, here's what I would recommend:
1. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>>System>>Startup>>1
2. View the Values (Note: I use RegEditSTG, for other Registry editors this may not be necessary)
3. Edit the "Dll" Value and clear the "Value data" field
4. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>>System>>Shutdown>>1
5. View the Values (see note on Step 2.)
6. Delete the "Dll" value entirely

Cheers,

Thanks! I got this to work.

Now I'm just working on the shutter sound for the camera. I still can't copy the file into \windows\

The error message I receive:

"Cannot copy 'camera.shutter_1':Access is denied.

Be certain that there is enough free storage memory, that the destination is not write-protected and that the file is not currently in use."

Remove the startup and shutdown sounds & Silence the camera shutter tone ... both do not work for me. I copy the file to the phone and then go to file explorer to copy and paste in windows. Am I doing it wrong? The instructions seem as though they should be copied from the folder I saved it in, directly to the \windows folder from the PC. If that's the case, I'm unable to see the \windows folder from my PC.... HELP!!!!

I finally got this badboy working... I didn't really test out what made it work as I installed three different unlockers (including the modaco one) and then installed Gmaps & WLS. Both work for me. w00t. Funny thing is that I have one more free of Telenav and I haven't tried to use it. Even dumber, I have a Garmin Nuvi 350. Why did it matter if I got GPS? Lol.

Yay!

Ehm, mine works fine and it's black. It takes a while to get a signal, but as far as I can tell, that's normal...

Did you unlock for GPS?

Smartphone = Windows Mobile device with the Smartphone (aka "Standard") version
Smart Phone = A phone with "advanced capabilities"

If I recall correctly, it was a Smartphone plan. That is, if you want to get technical...and apparently, ATT does.

Technically... a smartphone can be a PDA device.

Well... AT&T's definition of a PDA is any device that has a QWERTY keyboard and has an HTML browser. The 3125 does not and is classified as a Smartphone.

This is actually correct and incorrect, meaning, "To each his/her own" ....

A smartphone is a mobile phone offering advanced capabilities beyond a typical mobile phone, often with personal computer like functionality. There is no industry standard definition of a smartphone. For some, a smartphone is a phone which runs complete operating system software providing a standardized interface and platform for application developers. For others, a smartphone is simply a phone with advanced features.

Personal digital assistants (PDAs) are handheld computers, but have become much more versatile over the years. PDAs are also known as pocket computers or palmtop computers. PDAs have many uses: calculation, use as a clock and calendar, accessing the Internet, sending and receiving E-mails, video recording, typewriting and word processing, use as an address book, making and writing on spreadsheets, scanning bar codes, use as a radio or stereo, playing computer games, recording survey responses, and Global Positioning System (GPS). Newer PDAs also have both color screens and audio capabilities, enabling them to be used as mobile phones (smartphones), web browsers, or portable media players. Many PDAs can access the Internet, intranets or extranets via Wi-Fi, or Wireless Wide-Area Networks (WWANs). Many PDA's employ touch screen technology.

Of the ones that don't need the unlock their phone for the GPS programs to work, how many own a wine BJ II and how many own a black BJ II? I work for AT&T and I've asked some of my representatives to poll customer calls and everyone that stated their GPS working fine were all of the wine colored BJ IIs.

This might be very stupid, however; the first time I tried to make one I forgot to save it as whatever.xml.

Trust me, it's not stupid, I work for AT&T and see stupid things all the time... "Maam is the phone on?" and she replies, "Oh you're right, that was the problem."

Yeah, I save it with the same extension and that's the main reason I also copied the one that was in my BJ, to ensure it wasn't just me. The Windows simple that I copied, doesn't show up either.

Help!

P.S. I like it the way Windows Basic is, without the lines going across.

I would like the Date to be on the left side and time on the right, in smaller font.

The AT&T, if possible to say: Jayden 6.20.6

Thanks again.

Maybe it's me, but I am unable to find the homescreens I create in the list... If I didn't do certain things like attributes correctly, would that stop it? Below is what I have... I tried the tutorial up there and failed, so I tried to copy windows simple and add to it... Can someone help me put it together and leave a spot for me to add the backround image:

I want the following items : Time & Date, same spot that windows simple has it, except, I would like instead of numbers to have the words (January 1st, 2008)

then...

Calls Missed (I would like it to disappear when there aren't any)
SMS & MMS
Calendar Appointment
Profile

All of this, I would like going down the left side with a blue & white theme...
Also the font, I would prefer to be Sylfaen, if possible or the cloest to it.

Please anyone, w4lly???

Thanks in advance,
S.

Unlocking phone = enabling it to be used with foreign sim cards... (foreign meaning, any carrier that the phone was not locked to.)

Software unlocking = enabling certain programs that didn't get the "okay" from microsoft to run.
